Hugely disappointing service. In spite of being the only two people at the deli counter we were treated as one-size-fits-all McCustomers. And yes, NP has always had a certain flair in the service department, that was part of the original charm. Asked for the smallest size of salads and they were overstuffed into the containers. Were given full sandwiches when asked for half. The total bill came to more than double what was ordered. Wish I could say the food was worth it, but it wasnt. Salads went beyond subtle into bland. Orzo was improperly prepared. At first we thought the tomato on the sandwiches was mushy cucumber placed by mistake. Chicken rice and tomato soups were inedible. Would have been happier at Panera Bread and we hate even walking into the mall. On the upside, the desserts were fantastic and will likely make the drive again just for those.

The Coralville New Pioneer is without question the finest grocery store I have ever had the pleasure to shop in, and I come from a foodie wonderland. They have wide aisles, excellent products (including best-in-class olive oils I have never seen outside of Chicago), really fantastic sales, and the friendliest staff youre ever likely to find in a grocery store. Weirdly, their prices arent as high as you would expect them to be: comparison-shopping comparable products here and in HyVee we found that New Pi often matched or even beat HyVees prices. (Granted, these are prices for the organic whatsits and natural whosamawidgets we tend to shop for.) Plus, it should be said that the new member coupon book includes so many coupons for awesome free foods that youre likely to recoup your $60 pretty quickly.

Wonderful store. I drift between here and the downtown IC location depending on where Im at for the day, although I have a slight preference for this store due to size. I enjoy the classroom space upstairs as well! Id love to attend one someday. I adress the complaints of high prices once more: This grocery store reflects the true price of food. You have been lied to your entire life from corporate giants about what food should cost. They drove down the price with factory farms and gmos. If you shop smart and eat well, you wont be paying much more monthly eating organic vs conventional.

Expensive. They need to carry what their sister store carries. More importantly, they need to pay more attention to HEALTHY FOODS. Especially gluten-free foods both at the deli and within the store. Less sugar more true food. The Coralville location is clean and bright, but the original location is more homey. Overall glad to have a health food store in the area.

Good people that work here that actually consume some of the food to give excellent recommendations when asked. Its small for a supermarket, the one in Cedar Rapids is far better in terms of selection. I think it wouldnt be uncalled for to charge a yearly membership fee to use some money to buy/lease a bigger location in Coralville.

This store has more options than the downtown Iowa City location. It is a great store with great quality products. They are very mindful of what is in the food options they offer. Fresh baked breads, desserts and pastries. Fresh deli foods like pasta salads and similar things. I ❤ this store

The meat and deli counter at NewPi have organic and free range options that are nearly impossible to find at the big box stores nearby. They also have unique vitamin and alcohol selections. This NewPi is way bigger than the one in downtown but just as friendly. Try the local produce!

Best vegan muffin ever and truly fresh-squeezed OJ. Since its unpasteurized it comes with a warning - adding a little danger to breakfast, which is always exciting. Would be nice if they had sliced lemon to make twists for espresso.
