Great prices, huge selection (except generic light beers), interesting ambience. The unusual decor gives this place a strange, yet welcoming feel. Taxidermy, dragon sculptures, and various trinkets are hanging on the walls. Dimly lit, but welcoming for larger groups looking to have a beer, sit, and chat. Beer selection: overwhelming. Im not necessarily saying that having too many options is bad, but there has to be over 200 options, written on a single spaced "menu." Most surprising, though, is that despite the selection, they do not carry your typical light beers. Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, and other generic go-tos for casual beer drinkers arent available. The bar next door, Valhalla, has a liquor license (no liquor at Heorot), as well as the generic beers, so you can sometimes ask the bartender to go next door and grab you one. I prefer Valhalla since it offers liquor, the same beer selection as Heorot (the bars have the same ownership or are partners), as well as pool tables. Staff is friendly (except for one guy). Usually isnt very busy, but will have a dozen or so people present any given night. For the selection of exotic beers that they offer, the prices are excellent.

Not what it used to be. Went here a lot in college. Hadnt been in about 10 years. Stopped by to relive a little of the college years. The good - still has a great tap list. The bad - ordered an IPA from a brewery I had not tried before. Took a while to decide on it due to the great list. Bartender poured beer and it was dark brown. I gave him a moment to see if he would say anything. Pointed out that this was a very dark IPA. He asked down to the other end of the bar - to what I think must have been his co-worker and/or boss. Found out that the IPA was now a sweet amber beer with habanero peppers. NO offer to exchange it, or suggestion that if I didnt like it to try something else. Nothing. I get that part of the appeal of this place is the no BS wait staff. Still I thought this was a bit much.

This place is amazing for the beer lover! 4 pages of beer to select from and very detailed. The wife and I went a week ago. i really enjoyed the selections on the juke box and its a good place to take a bunch of friends. The only thing that kind of disturbed me was the bathroom. The mens bathroom was a disaster. Looked like it hadnt been cleaned in a while. Otherwise i would have given this a 5 rating. Edit: its been 2 years since Ive been here. Went back today and saw the bathrooms had been remodeled. Now i give it 5 stars. Friendly people and nice social place to go. The brats with sauerkraut were pretty damn good too.

The Heorot does not need a review, but fine, Google. This place appeals to all sorts- as long as youve got a love of beer, or are willing to see if there is a beer you do like. Fantastic selection, great pizza and delicious garlic cheese bread. Forever out of Scotch Eggs, ever since my undergrad. Whenever we are back in town, my wife insists we go, if possible. It has changed a lot in the past few years, but beer remains, as ever, great. And they have root beer on tap, for those who dont want the actual beer.

Had quite a selection of beer, but very limited food menu. They do have an option to purchase a small taster glass, so you can order your own flight from anything on tap, but... When I tried to do so, they said that they only had 2 taster glasses in the entire bar, so I had to order 2, drink them, then take the glasses back to be washed and filled with the next beers to taste. Good in some ways, but not as impressive as I expected.

The beers still great. It should be. It took me 20 minutes to get one tonight. And I had to flag down one of the (at my count) FIVE servers behind the bar to get one. Are you kiddin me? Youre slippin, Heurot. Took me another ten minutes to drink it. Sat my empty cup up at the back of the bar and waited another ten minutes for ANYONE to offer to fill it. No dice. At 11:00 on the nose I bailed. Very disappointed.

The theme is Scandinavian, and the bottle/tap list is DEEP. Its cozy, and an excellent place to relax while trying something from their massive drink menu. Its also a great place to meet up with friends, as there is a healthy stock of board games on tap and plenty of large flat tables. I cant day enough good things about this place, and Id drive hours to go back!

You come to this place and you feel like you belong. In one area there are the college students then you see a group of businessmen over just having a drink, while over on the corner a couple seem to be out celebrating 25 years of marriage. The point is there is no defining group her and that just makes it feel open to anyone who walks in.

A few times a month my wife and I take our friends to the Heorot for a few pints and some good conversation. This is our favorite bar by far to go to in Muncie. The atmosphere and beer list is unmatched, just make sure you dinner eat somewhere else. I recommend the apricot mead for those who are interested in branching out.

If you dislike the typical college bar scene and love beer, this is the place to be. Their beer selection is extremely extensive with incredibly low prices. The food is also surprisingly great considering bar food is usually years old and pickled in a jar. This is the perfect place to relax and grab a drink after work.

While there is always a great beer selection here, it could just really use a good hose down on the entire place. Back in the day the dark, cozy feel in there was inviting. As time has gone on though I feel like theyve used the muted lighting as an excuse to not mop the floors or clean the cobwebs.

I used to love this place...but it slid downhill for years. It might be better now, but last I checked it still was a pale shadow of its former glory. The Fickle Peach around the corner or Savages Ale house would likely be a better choice downtown and for those on campus I would suggest Big Shots.

Best beer selection in Muncie, in my opinion. My husband and I have been here a few times and always get something new and different. The pizza is not bad either considering its a bar first. Its a nice quiet bar and has a really unique atmosphere!

Muncie first beer variety obsessed bar. I dont want to throw out a number but it is more variety of beer than you could imagine. This Viking hall is one of the downtown Muncie gems that must be visited to understand the awesomeness.
