I have never left bad review in my life! But this time I was absolutely disappointed with the service at this place! My family has beeen coming to this place since opening. But within last year we noticed that the quality of the food and service has changed and not in a good way. Having entered the restaurant at the late afternoon on Sunday, we found place very quiet . The greeting person was eating at the near by table and without greeting us she just grabbed the menu and asked what table we want. After placing an order for sushi, we had to wait about 15-20 minutes , which would be fine if the place was busy but not at this time. Our order was done and was waiting for us at the sushi bar but waiters was nowhere to found. Finally, she brought our order and without saying a single word dropped the plate and left. Well... I understand that most of the stuff do not speak good English but still.. this type of attitude ruined my whole experience. I had to ask few more things during our dunning and waiters was not around so I kept asking cleaning crew. The food was ok but I didnt enjoy it due to a poor customer service. When we were leaving greeting person just looked at us without saying thank you or anything like that.... The good restaurant comes not only with a good food but a Welcoming , friendly atmosphere . I hope my review will help management make some changes. Although, I am not sure we are coming back to this place to spend my money !

I go here all the time (I would say once every one-two weeks) and while the food has been outstanding, the service is always lacking. I usually never get my water refilled, my table is often ignored for a long time, the host to seat tables disappears for nearly 15-20 minutes at a time, and a majority of the servers forget extras (like a side of spicy mayo, appetizer orders to come out before the entree/sushi, or extra lemons for water). I think some of them like to play like they dont understand what youre saying because they are all from Japan, but I dont buy the game. I have had a server nearly fight with me on what I wanted to pick for lunch (even though what I wanted would have been more expensive) and in the end I just went with something else I wasnt too excited about. If you want to eat some of the best sushi on the Northside or experience a fun Hibachi grill, this is the place to go. If you want to be treated with actual customer service, go somewhere else.

The wait staff was good and did what they could to make our night pleasant. We had one major problem with our experience at Izakaya. One person in our party had a sizable piece of glass in her rice. We contacted our waitress and she ask if we wanted to have her rice removed, We said yes and had everyone else rice removed. The gentlemen cooking continued cooking and trying to put food on our plates with the possible rice with glass in it. We asked for the manger and he did nothing. He did not even come over to make sure everything was OK. At the end of the meal, nothing was taken off our bill for the glass being in the rice. I asked the wait staff to ask the manager to comp us on some of the meal. The manager took $1.30 off everyone meal and never came to the table to apologize. I would not recommend going to this restaurant with the management that is there now. Get rid of the manager there now and maybe we will come back.

Absolutely awful experience. Made reservations, were held in the waiting room for 15 minutes past our reservation time. After we were seated we waited 30 minutes to get our drink order in, another 30 to get our appetizers. The chef then came out to prepare our meals which were not placed correctly. He then discovered the grill had been off the entire time we were waiting. Many other diners came in and were seated, and fed before us. Awful experience, and the staff was less than helpful or sympathetic about our terrible service. Take it from me, and choose another restaurant.

We were quickly seated and served. We ordered the lunch special of two rolls with soup or salad.The miso soup was delicious and my wife really enjoyed the salad and dressing. The rolls we ordered were okay overall, with one being outstanding (the sweet potato and avocado had great texture and flavor) and another disappointing (the spicy tuna had almost no flavor, let alone spice). The other two rolls were fried rolls and were not disappointing but didnt have much of a distinguishing flavor. Id come back to try more unique rolls in a dinner hour.

We went with a large group. About 10 people total. We were served quickly when we sat down and our cook was very friendly and easy to work with. The cook moves rarely go out of style. My favorite is when he makes the huge flame and you have to lean back in your seat. I tried the chicken and it was so tender and juicy. I would like to go back and try other proteins. It was my friends birthday so they played the drum and sang for her while she did the traditional birthday dance. haha great experience and i was stuffed!

Been coming here for several years. The staff is great and they know our faces when we come back. Its an experience on the Hibachi side of the restaurant and there is sometimes a wait to be seated and then a wait for the Hibachi Chef to arrive at your table. Its worth the wait! It youre in a hurry sit on the other side of the restaurant. You can still order Habachi as well as the rest of the menu. Food is great either way!

Horrible sushi, not fresh and all room temperature. They wouldnt slice the tuna as we requested either. We told the server who asked how our meal was, we told her we were disappointed, she didnt respond and walked away. We then talked to the manager and he wanted to argue with us about the quality. He gave us 10% off our bill. Not enough to make me not write this review. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Great Hibachi and excellent sushi. I have been a Japanese cuisine devotee for quite some time and at Izakaya the food is fresh, well prepared and delicious. The staff are friendly and seem genuinely happy to see you. Service is great and has been so consistently exceptional each time I have dined at this establishment. I would definitely recommend this to any person who enjoys excellent Japanese cuisine!

Takeout order at lunchtime on a Monday. Place is not particularly busy. Called in the order so it would be ready when I got there. When I placed the order, he never took a name or number- just told me 15 minutes. I arrive and pay the check. 20 mins later I receive my food. If you arent going to cook my food until I arrive to pay, tell me that on the phone or dont offer takeout. Food was average at best.

My experience was horrible and disappointing. My brother tried to order to off the Kids menu and the waitress totally put her self care in front of my families. She immediately assumed he was over 10 years old. I told her he wasnt and she told me i was lying. The food is very over priced. I believe the quote, "The customer is always right." They definitely dont believe in this quote here.
