I have only been during the weekday lunch service but was extremely impressed. The restaurant is of decent size, with tables nicely placed. You are seated and served water immediately, with white linen and silverware already placed. The buffet was well stocked with commonly found Indian offerings, all of which looked well prepared and hot. The naan was probably the best I have had from local Indian eateries. The remaining items really hit the spot but felt restrained on the spice side. When I have Indian food, I expect spice and pungency, and this felt tailored to a milder American palate. All in all, this is a must have Downtown eatery, especially with lunch only being $8.50. You cant hardly get a hamburger for that price anymore.

Just visited the lunch buffet yesterday. It was ok. It will satisfy a fix for Indian food, but it is not great. My biggest complaint was that the food was very bland. I have been spoiled to have India Sizzling just a couple minutes from my house, so Im used to dishes full of spice and flavor. The dishes at India Garden tasted bland and lack luster. It also seemed like the ingredients were cheaper or poorly prepared. Maybe I caught it on a bad day? Like I said, it was ok and I certainly filled up on some decent food, but I was left wanting more.

Always glad to see a good Indian restaurant in the U.S. Honest opinion - Chicken tikka masala pretty good. Vindaloo - Not good at all. I hate to offend but the first taste was like drinking from a bottle of worchester sauce. Completely over powering over loaded with worchester and very little curry Indian flavors. I really hope that this was perhaps an isolated incident but any vindaloo I have ever had has never ever tasted such complete worchester sauce only flavor. Hope this helps for future meals to the chefs.

The owner is jerk. We called before walking over from our hotel to see if I needed reservations to dine in. The guy on the phone said no, come on over. After a one mile walk the owner says they are only taking take out orders. I explain that I called first and he still told me he wouldnt serve me (he actually said it had been a long day ... guess what, for me too). Ironically there were still 45 minutes before close. Maybe he needs to update his google page before making up rules that treat people poorly.

Horrible!!! We stopped in for lunch since we were downtown and there was only a buffet with no option for ordering other meals. The buffet was terrible, even for a buffet. All the food had no flavor or spice, which is odd for Indian food. Also, it wasnt very hot and it seems that we got the remainders of all batches. The spinach and cheese entree didnt have any cheese in it. We dont recommend this place. Not sure about the other reviews....odd, our service was almost obsolete.

Ordered Tandoori Chicken (Half) and Fish Tandoori for a carry-out on 9/17/2010. Found just 4 small pieces of chicken (for $10) and 10 small cubes of stinky fish (for $17). Person on the phone was totally unprofessional. Very poor value and quality for the money spent. Would never recommend anybody to go there. If you would still like to try, be prepared to be exploited. I would rather go to one of my other Indian favourites in town even though they are far from downtown.

I have tried Indian food all over the country and in England. This place has the best Masala ever. The portions are generous and the order always comes out quickly. If you like your food hot, skip the buffet as it is too mild for my taste. I am a coffee junky, and I love their coffee. They need to improve their wine list. I consider this place a best overall value and the best vegetarian friendly restaurant in Indianapolis.

Solid Indian buffet. The food was fairly bland, but it has some good spices in it. The fare is authentic and exactly what I am used to from India, just toned down a little for the American palate. The servers were wonderful and always present when they needed to be, as well as very present to be around. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes Indian food.

I needed to use the restroom and when I walked in. It looked Luke a nice place. I thought of maybe eating there after my appointment I had, but when they were rude about not letting me use the restroom even after telling them I have a health cindition, I thought Ill never eat there. People should treat others how they want to be treated. That guy didnt. :( to him.

Best Indian food I have ever had! I eat here a few times a month and it is one of my favorite places to eat in Indy. I normally dont get the lunch buffet because they dont make it spicy enough for me (Im guessing they make it mild so more people can tolerate the spice). If I go at lunch time, I order a dish for myself that meets the spice level that I want.

India Garden has excellent food and service! We booked the day before New Years Eve for a large party on NYE. We had approximately 20 people and the service and food couldnt have been better. Everyone was delighted with their food and how timely it all came out - with no wrong orders either. Great restaurant! We plan to make it an annual event.

A very nice place, with a wonderful atmosphere. Well appointed decor, and wonderful staff. The food is buffet at lunch, I have not had dinner there, yet. The food is hot, tasty, and always well stocked. Reasonably priced for lunch, and you get a mostly professional crowd, government types, lawyers, and business men at lunch. Nice place to eat.

Decent buffet. Service poor. There is water pitchers on the table, but the server came with his own pitcher and tried to pour me water, except he didnt use pitcher correctly and poured out of the side and the water went everywhere. Didnt really help clean it up either. The decor is nice though place was empty.

Ive been to India Garden several times and find it consistently good. Ive been to dozens of Indian restaurants in Chicago and India Garden is of similar quality as Chicagos best (but with a more restricted menu). Im particularly impressed with their vegetarian dishes, even though I love meat.

I love this place. I usually dont care much for eating at the restaurant, just because the feel of it is too uptight. BUT the food is delicious and I have never had a bad meal there. Both the lamb curry and Mixed vegetable curry are really good. Dont leave without trying the naan!

Right off the bat the service was phenomenal. They paid attention to us but there was no hovering. Perfect balance. The food was absolutely fantastic. The waiters recommendation of wine pairing with the food was spot on. Great prices for your money. Will certainly return again.

Despite saying they are open until 10pm we turned up at 9:15 on a Saturday night to find them cleaning and unwilling to do anything for us other than takeout. Maybe the food is good, Ill never know as am unlikely to return given the attitude to service.
