The food (mostly meat) at City BBQ is very good, but not the most consistent. Dining area is cramped and order taking area/process is not intuitive and often clogs-up like Rockville Road at 4PM on a Friday...this combined with it being a work-a-raunt, I have to give them a 0 for service. We usually get the Deluxe City Sampler, which has enough variety and quantity for about 3-4 people. Sometimes the brisket is very good, moist and tender. Sometimes the brisket is dry or under cooked (tough & rubbery). Sometimes you get a good portion of ribs, other times you get a rack of dry, over-cooked shiners (that is,ribs with little meat, where the bone shines though) . The pulled pork is usually good, as is the smoked chicken, however an extra 1/4 chicken (ala cart) costs a CRAZY $5. One of out favorites is the smoked Turkey! One time the brisket gave me some intestinal discomfort, which I believe stemmed from poor cleanliness of the meat cutting table and/or Citys holding temperature & method of cooked briskets...but I have been back since, w/o any trouble. Oh yea...the corn bread and the grilled rolls are VERY good too. Once we got some BBQ beans that had lots of brisket in the beans. That must have been a mistake, as all other times since, the beans have had very little brisket in the sauce. Overall we like City BBQ, but hope they were more constant and maintained a higher level of quality with regard to the ribs. Recent Price Increase --> Some menu items went up 10% to 15% in Sep. 2012.

First time ever visited, was at Avon location, today, 7-29-17. Just a Little confusing as to placing order, being seated etc.. but turned out fine. Smelled great before we ever went in which is usually a good sign! "Order taker" was very friendly & professional and repeated our order back to us. (also a good sign) The food arrived QUICKLY, hot & obviously fresh. Everything tasted great! Weve had "fast food" style barbque in the past & were disappointed. City Barbque did NOT disappoint in the least! The staff even stopped by our table making sure everything was fine, and even offered up free samples of anything we thought we might like to try. Never got an offer like that before, ANYWHERE! Great food & great service at the Avon location.. we WILL be back!

Recently, called this place to make sure they had ribs, the lady on the phone said they had plenty. We arrive 20 minutes later to place our order, and was told ribs would be 30 minutes. Asked the manager if she was the one I talked to and she said no. As a matter of fact , no one admitted even talking to me. I called the number again, that was in my phone and the manager answered. It was the same person I talked with the first time. I dont appreciate being lied to. When we arrived, the place was dead, maybe 3 tables. This place always runs out of ribs and unfortunately we will not be back. The ribs are not cheap and usually we purchase 3 full rack dinners which is well over $65.00. You should never lie to customers.

I have eaten at this City BBQ many times and cant say enough good about it. Always plenty to eat. Reasonable prices, good condiments, etc. But the best part is the service. They have had a couple of different managers and they all run a top notch place. Very friendly, fast, efficient service. If something isnt right, they fix it and then some. The City Sampler is awesome, and the smoked turkey is perhaps the best youll ever have. Can you tell I like the place ? You will too.

I just wanted to write to say how impressed I was with City BBQ always, but especially today. I had an awful day. My oven caught on fire and I spent all afternoon cleaning up the mess. We went to City BBQ for obvious reasons. The woman who took my order(long blonde hair, I didnt catch her name) was very sweet and it completely turned my day around. People like her truly make a difference in the world, even by just a small act of kindness.

I LOVE City BBQ! The staff was attentive as I lingered for awhile following my meal, multiple staff members who were cleaning up in the restaurant asked me if I needed anything else. As I walked to the parking lot, some of the kitchen staff were on break and told me Thank You for stopping in -- I appreciated that kind comment and I told them that the food was delicious, as always!

If you like smoked meats, you will love City Barbeque. Their brisket is really tender, and quite flavorful. Their fries are great, the baked beans have little pieces of brisket included, and the mac and cheese is creamy. Dont leave without getting some Texas style peach cobbler, youll thank me for that.

Unbelievably good. This is the best bbq place Ive ever found. I just wish I had this back home. But at least I have tennesses bbq as a close 2nd place. Between the huge amounts of pulled pork and pulled chicken, beans and cornbread, I dont yet have the room to try the peach cobbler. I will take it to go.

Great food & friendly service. Met at the door with a smile & free samples which helped us each decide what to order. Couldnt have asked for a better place to eat lunch. The restaurant is clean, bright, family-friendly, and smells wonderful! Got a piece of chocolate cake to go...& wow! Delicious!!!

Not great. The food was cold. The condiments were all out, but none of the staff seemed concerned to restock. All out of pickles, lemons and 2 sauces. When we went and asked, they brought only pickles. We have had much better here, but for a Friday night, there may be a reason it was not busy.

The food was great! We were there for a fundraiser, which they donated 25% to a local group! That was a very generous portion of theyre sales for the night! Love it! The prices were a little on the steep side, but any place that serves good quality meat has to charge more! Totally worth it!

Unfortunately, I cant rate the food because, after being on hold trying to call in an order for 15 minutes, we gave up and went decided to go somewhere else. If you cant be bothered to answer a phone within 15 minutes, how can I expect you to know what youre doing with my food? No thanks.

The rave reviews were well founded... Had a chance to try all the meats; yummy! Pulled pork was a bit too salty for me but their swine wine was a great addition. This is one of only a few places that can do turkey right! Would like a bit more smoky flavor; but very good none the less.

City Barbecue catered my event. Getting the food was, by far, the easiest part of organizing this whole event. The food was great, the set up was quick, professional, and efficient. I highly recommend them for dinner, or for catering your next event - you will not be disappointed!

Great, great food. I had the ribs with fries and baked beans. My wife had the pulled pork with fries,and Mac & cheese and a huge piece of triple chocolate cake that was off the chain. Our only dislike was that they only offered vinegar coleslaw which neither one of us likes
