First time we ever went to the Opera House it was extremely good! We ended up going a second time and was HIGHLY disappointed. Service was good, but they was out of ALL steaks except the T-Bone which is not what me nor the wife was wanting. Next we ordered an appetizer they decided to let us know when our MAIN COURSE come that they was out of (jalapeño poppers) and that we could substitute it. They did offer any of the appetizers for free as a replacement but we already had our main course so decided against it. The place use to be always packed but not so much anymore. This visit was on a Saturday at approximately 5-5:30 pm.

Probably the best on tap beer selections in town, service is usually subpar though whether sitting at the rail or in the dining area I dont know if they are under staffed, dont train properly, or if their servers just dont care but I am yet to have prompt service at this place regardless of how busy it is or is not. When the food is prepared properly its pretty good but it is often not prepared well, again I dont know if that is a staffing issue or if the cooks just dont care. Its generally a 50/50 shot if the food will be good. I have recently discovered the Tin PLATE in town and I prefer to go there now.

Great beer on tap! Not a huuuuge selection but GREAT selection for bein such a small town! Very nice staff. Always on your order/next beer, yet not up your ass about it. Very friendly and great food! I only ordered cheese balls and beer all night but I saw a few other entries go out and they looked fantastic!

Fried green tomatoes, a seasonal appetizer, were good as was the fried zucchini. Ghost [pepper] steak nachos were quite disappointing as they were served almost cold and the steak was unseasoned and bland. Beer selection is the best in town by a long shot. Decor is antiquey and welcoming. Service is good.

Second visit to this restaurant I can say the food is rather lacking subsistence or overcooked First visit was a nacho supreme that was all chips Second visit was a tenderloin that was so overcooked that it was hard At least, they killed it with a steak knife Very disappointed

Just moved to Elwood. Today we discovered Opera House Pub! Food was great! 20 brews on tap. We were given a private tour of the upstairs and all the amazing history that is our new home! Well be back, The Kellys
