I went here on a Sunday with some friends and we all had a great experience here! It was pretty busy, but we didnt have to wait too long for a table. The service was a tad slow, but like I said, it was pretty busy so I cant blame them. The food was absolutely delicious though. I got the biscuits and gravy with fried eggs on top and it was to DIE FOR. So good, I would most definitely recommend it to anyone who like biscuits and gravy. My friends got cottage cheese blueberry pancakes, eggs with bacon, and bagel with lox respectively, and all said theirs were fantastic. This place inches on the expensive side, my meal with no drink was $10, and the bagel with lox was $14 I think, but its so delicious its hard to argue. If youre looking for a really nice sit-down cafe to bring your family to for Sunday brunch, this place is perfect. Delicious, warm, good atmosphere, and just expensive enough to impress your visiting parents.

Would give it a 4.5 if possible! Good food and good service! My friend and I went here for Sunday brunch. It was packed, but we easily got a table for two. The waiter also managed to see us quickly and our food was ready quickly, even with the crowd. I ordered home fries and the jalapeño cheddar grits with the creme brûlée French toast. My friend ordered a bacon omelette with a side of sausage. She couldnt finish her omelette and the sausage with the large portions. I took home at least half of my food, except the grits which we mowed down together. Creme brûlée French toast was good, home fries were ok, but grits were great! My friend liked her food, and even said there was too much bacon!! The food was good, and was really well priced for a place in town. Place is also classy, but not too classy, so young and old can enjoy.

Absolutely awful service, two of us waited over 30 minutes for a table after being told there would be a 20 minute wait only to then see two other people walk into the restaurant and get seated right away. The manager even had the audacity to walk over and tell another family with his back completely turned to us how sorry he was that he couldnt get them their table together sooner since they had a large party, then walked away without even asking if we had been helped. Was so unpleased we got up and left. Dont waste your time here.

Ive been going here for a little over a year. About a year ago, I would have given this 4 stars; not 5 due to the erratic quality of service in the bar area and the somewhat aloof behavior of the hotesses. But, the food a year ago was very close to 5 stars. Over the last few months, I have noticed a degradation of food quality. However, the hostesses seem friendlier, now. The service in the bar area is still erratic. The remaining staff have always been outstanding.

Very nice and pleasant. We visited on our 16th anniversary and was very pleased. Nice, quiet, very nice restaurant with excellent food. The New York Strip was awesome. Louisiana Hot Pepper Chicken was good as well that my wife had. Pricing was normal for this type of place. Nice crowd, not a young yuppy place we thought it might be being in a college town. Service was good and prompt. We would definitely visit again when we come back. Doug

It was ok. It is listed as a cajun restaurant, but I would consider it very loosely based on a cajun restaurant. It was a little fancy for what it was. My husband is from Louisiana, and we visit there at least twice a year. The food here did not even compare! I ordered a cajun meatloaf sandwich, and it just tasted like straight up meatloaf. And they charged me a dollar to add onions. They do have REALLY good jalapeno cheese grits!

We walked in for lunch and were seated immediately. Server was very friendly. I ordered the Louisiana Hot Pepper chicken dish. My daughter ordered the Polenta ala Puttanesca. The chicken was okay. The sauce is poured over the chicken making it soggy. The polenta was overwhelmed by the goat cheese and it was fairly soggy. Overall the meal was okay but not something I would order again. Beautiful restaurant with good staff.

I had the potato omelet. It was average at best. Nowhere on my menu did it say the omelet came with mushrooms, I just took them out but if someone had an allergy and they bit into that omelet that would have been a disaster. My mimosa was pretty good though. I also ordered a Caffè Latté and that was pretty good as well and it was a decent size. Staff was polite and the place was clean. Overall it was an average experience.

I completely understand what the owner is trying to achieve by having an upscale interior and very professional staff, but the quality of the food does not match the price tag on the menu. For being described as cajun/creole, the offerings under this variety are slim. You would be better off taking the $40+ you would spend on brunch here, buying the ingredients yourself, and exploring your own culinary talent.

I had to schedule a last minute staff luncheon for 23 people. I called Uptown Cafe and Ashley got everything arranged. I was greeted by Victor and taken very good care of. Ceasar was absolutely amazing. He took great care of the staff. The food was delicious and the service was amazing! I would highly recommend The Uptown Cafe for business or personal dining. They are definitely "Uptown"

Got breakfast here when my family was in town. Great eggs Benedict options. The vegetarian Benedict is really good. Uptown is always a solid choice for dinner or breakfast. TIP: If its busy for breakfast, seating in the bar area (including the surrounding tables) is first come first serve. There has always been a table open in the bar area with on wait even when normal area has a wait.

Not with the cost. The filet was 1/4 inch thick, ordered medium rare got medium well. Tasted more like petite sirloin. Crab cake was good. Fried calamari and rock shrimp 12 dollars, decent but small serving not worth the amount spent. Kids meals were huge but twice the cost of most places. Service was good but had to wait for check as the server was watching tv in bar during dinner rush.

My favorite "nice" restaurant in Bloomington, edging out Malibu and Grazie. The steaks here are cooked well, the atmosphere is nice, and the prices are actually on par with what you get. The mac and cheese and the steak fries are my personal favorite sides, but I havent had anything bad here. Uptown Cafe probably comes the closest to the big city steakhouse feel in Bloomington.

used to love it-two of us had recent breakfast and menu changed. Favorite creole sauce, which was speciality, now gone-almost all omelettes had meat and all omeletes w veg had mushrooms. Since 2 of us cant eat mushrooms and they dont allow deletions or substitutions- we couldnt get any veg omeletes. They were great but dont cater to customer anymore.

My experience was not very good. Server was not good, rude. We ordered drinks first which came so late. He even came to take order for entree after appetizers and still drinka were not there. Did not ask us what side we would like with our dish and seemed so much in hurry. Food was just fine not excellent. I liked shrimp creole among all we ordered.
