Three stars in life, but probably four for the area. Its one of only a few places in the area for a bit after a jaunt in one of the many Cook County Forest Preserve areas nearby. They accommodated our large group, pushing several tables together. Service was sort of bizarre but fine. They took orders randomly, and half the table got its food (but not all at once) before the other half had even ordered because the one server was taking orders and bringing the food as soon as it was ready, alternating between taking orders and bringing out orders, but all to our table. This led to a bit of annoyance and a disjointed meal. Still, the food obviously came quickly and was made fresh, and was solid diner food. The staff was nice enough, but not effusive or anything. People liked the omelets and pancakes. The patty melt was very good, although the rye bread didnt have much rye flavor. The French onion soup also lacked flavor, but wasnt unpleasant. The fries were average medium thickness diner fries, but were nice and crispy. They also gave us each a separate check, which was very much appreciated. $10 minimum for credit cards. They have a small but just-adequate parking lot outside, although Im sure parking on the streets wouldnt have been a problem.

Just ok, I wish it was better, the chef stares out the window of the kitchen making you uncomfortable when your at the counter, he looks like he wants to come through the window at you, the corner booth by the kitchen is occupied by the cooks wife and baby, and she seems just as friendly, the waitress seemed nice and attentive, but for the price they are at, you would think the back of the house would be nicer, hopefully they improve the quality of their food, and put a smile on their face, or they will not last

The potato soup was fantastic!!! My wife had the Pork Chop & Egg Breakfast, the Pork Chop was as Large as a Porter House & the Best she (we) ever had!!!! I had the Bisquits & Gravy which was Fantastic!!! Our waitress was Monica & what a Lovely Lady. We are most certainly going to make regular visits!!! I highly recommend it. Kevin M.Myron Chicago

GREAT little place. I usually stop here for lunch after a morning riding the mountain bike trails at the nearby Forest Preserve. Service is friendly, food tasty and coffee is quite decent (not a given anywhere!). Nice big windows so sunny and cheerful.

Denver omelette was delicious, BF LOVED his orange juice and eggs with bacon and buttered bread. My pancakes with FRESH Blueberries were on point! Only item we both agreed could be better are the hash browns. Service was good too

This place is awesome. The soup tastes homemade with big chunks of broccoli. The service is so friendly and it has a bright welcoming atmosphere with sunlight coming in from every direction. My wife loved her French toast.

I had to skirt steak and eggs they asked me if I wanted any steak sauce or catch up it didnt need it it is perfect and it would have been an insult to put anything else on it because its tasty and the way they make it

On our holiday in Chicago this was the only place we went to twice. Good food and plenty for a really good price. Penny is really nice and keeps an eye out for you. Would definitely go back!
