A Shabby place with just "OKAY" food which is priced too high for what you receive. The waitress didnt explain that when you order an appetizer, you receive only one piece, ONE PIECE! Even though I had two people in my party she didnt mention that I might want to order more than one. So we paid $4 to split one piece of food in a menu item listed in appetizers. The service was quite bad. We entered and werent greeted for 5-10 minutes, the staff barely smiled and were not friendly even though I went out of my way to smile and be friendly to them. They were extremely slow, dont go for lunch while youre working! We hoped the very long delay was that they were making our food fresh, but we couldnt tell. The chicken Kiev tasted frozen and the lula kabobs were super salty. So much so that I couldnt eat it. Though I must say the Israeli salad was delicious. It appeared that some of their "Family" were seated in the room, eating, they said hello as we entered but never bothered to alert staff that customers had arrived, though they took telephone calls and yelled out to the staff about the calls. They also turned on an overhead TV that was exceedingly loud, with a Whitney Houston video loop, luckily after about 5 minutes the waitress came out and turned it down. The cloth silverware wraps on the tables smelled like they werent washed in years. Old & Stale, just like the restaurant itself. I was so looking forward to eating here, it was my birthday, and I was so disappointed. I felt terrible that I had chosen this place and the person bringing me had to pay for such a disappointing meal and experience. Ill never go back and Ill never recommend it.

My husband brought me here for our anniversary. We have lived near this restaurant for many years and have never even thought to try it. It is a hidden in a strip mall next to a Salvation Army, European sausage company, and nail salon. I was nervous to try something this far outside of my comfort zone but I am so glad that I did! I was worried about a cuisine mix from Turkey, Russia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, etc. But thankfully the Shish-Kabobs dominate this international menu. The owner and chef helped us to order a sampler platter of International salads as an appetizer. WOW o WOW! Each salad (which was like a tapas) was amazing. Then, we ordered a feta and mozerella filled puff pastry that was a symphony for the mouth. I dont know where this cheeese is from but surely she didnt buy this from the Jewel/Osco. I had the beef kebob and husband had the lamb. Both were so well seasoned and cooked it melted in our mouths. The homemade fried potatoes were also a must have! I had some kind of an iced tea that was made to order each time. It was phenomenal and one I will be raving about for a while. They are open for lunch and have great lunch specials. The owner is happy to recommend, advise, and work with you on things that are not even on the menu. Everything is made in house and fresh! I know you can get kebobs in the close area, but those dont deserve to stand next to these kebobs in the same category. The lunch menu is more economical and worth a try if you are nervous. Do it! Go! Enjoy it! You wont be sorry.

To preface this let me begin by saying that my fiance and are both on vegan diets so we do not normally dine out since so few restaurants cater to our dietary needs. Now my uncle wanted to host a small family social gathering to celebrate Nowruz the Persian new year (I am Iranian-American) and so we chose Ararat partly for the middle eastern cuisine but mainly because their website advertised an entire vegetarian menu and section. Yet at the restaurant, the server told us that there is no vegetarian menu. When my party insisted, explaining that my fiance and I are vegan, the owner/manager snapped at us. To quote she told my entire family "i dont care about those people i only add a few vegetarian dishes for women who are on dates and dont want to eat meat." Now i am well aware that the vegan diet is outside the norm, so thats precisely why i am not much of a restaurant goer. Because I dont expect restaurants to cater to my particular requirements, which is fine. Rather the false advertising was dishonest, and the rude and inhospitable service was even worse. I would avoid eating in and go for the carry out only.

Just came from this place. We were celebrating my mother-in-laws birthday. I do not usually rate places. But this was a disgrace to restaurants. 1. The owner, was rude and very inattentive. We had 14 people, with couple of kids. She (owner) was rude to the Birthday person, because she wanted to bring her own cake, she said " what I have to wash dishes after your cake? Whats wrong with our cake, I will charge by plate for that". 2. Space, there was no space. The seating was very tight, plates were one on top of each-other. 3. My little girl 5 year old wanted to drink water so I poured water in apparently a wrong glass. She made a big deal out of it, like she didnt have any more glasses to give to guests. 4. Our party got over charged by so much! We got charged over $85 per person for brunch!!! 5. Service, there was non basically. If you want to have disappointment , then go to that place!

I have been here several times now and every single time has been outstanding. The beef kabobs are to die for. We keep trying new menu items and have been pleased each time. For my dads 91st birthday they insisted on giving him a bottle of wine to toast his longevity. How cool is that? The help has always been more than pleasant, even as we struggle with the menu a little. A true hidden gem!

The food was just OK but the place is unclean. I had a Groupon which they didnt accept as they wanted me to order two main courses, which was not a part of the deal. They even called me a cheater, of course they didnt realize that I understand Russian. Horrible service. Anyway, I paid my bill and I am not going back.

I love this place, try to get there everytime i am around that town. Probably one of the best keababs i have tried. My personal favorite are Lamb chops and lyulya kebab. Also they have Israeli salad that is on top of the line! The owners are really nice and always treated us with respect.

Nice local place with friendly and accommodating owners. True to the culture food, they will tune it to your taste if you ask. I love their hachapuri. Love their soups. My son loves their dumplings. By the way, being a respectful guest is a part of the culture.

From out of town and wanted to try Eastern European food. The service was very personable and made you feel like you were in their home. Excellent food and the homemade deserts were outstanding. A must try restaurant!

Great small restaurant. The waitress is sweet and the food is good. If you are looking for a small place full of culture, check it out. It is a great place to ask about any menu items you havent tried before.
