My wife and I joined my sister and her husband for dinner here on a Saturday night, per their recommendation. My sister has lived in Marengo for 2 months and claims this is the best restaurant in town. When we got there It wasnt crowded, so we sat in the best booth in the place. The owner and waitress were both very friendly and attentive. Three of us ordered entrees (2 chicken parmasian and 1 ordered ribs) and the 4th ordered a chicken sandwich. All of us thought the food was excellent! The entrees came with soup, which was delicious, and dessert. Overall, great value for the amount of food served and very tasty! Looking forward to visiting here again...I hear their breakfasts are terrific as well!!

My husband and I have been staying at the KOA campground for a month and a half. We ventured out and found this unique restaurant operated by Steve and Cindy...fell in love with breakfast on the weekends! !! Awesome food and the staff is amazing! We pick up a handful of menus for the office park to hand out each weekend to short and long term campers. We were excited to hear that many guest visit the dinner! Truly the best food and service!

Overall pretty good place. The food was pretty good at a reasonable price. The staff was very friendly, including taking down a poster so I could see what was happening at the festival. Our glasses were never empty and they picked up dishes right away. Aside from the jerk customer shouting and swearing at the owner because he didnt get enough coffee, it was a good experience.

Its a small but comfy restaurant with generous portion sizes and a decent selection of menu items. Their soup was very good, despite the fact Im not really a soup person. The meal itself was good, though not particularly noteworthy. If you like casual dining in an intimate atmosphere, this place is definitely worth a try. Overall grade: B+

everytime i have ever gone here it is SLAMMED busy. but given the quality of service and food im ALL FOR waiting. this place has cured my hangover from a few nights out in marengo plenty of times. BEST ORANGE JUICE EVER and ALWAYS good food. even tho they are busy, believe me, its WORTH THE WAIT!

Stopped here on my way back to Chicago. It is exactly what you should expect in a small town diner: great and affordable food, family owned, attentive staff, good coffee. Dont forget breakfast anytime! If it wasnt so far from me I would come here all the time.

If you like Applebees or Chilis do NOT go to this restaurant. Marengo cafe gives small town American food a bad name. It makes Applebees seem like a gourmet meal. Terrible, terrible, terrible
