If I could give this place 0/5 stars I would. This place is HORRIBLE from the food quality to the customer service. My family and decided to try this place (been in EP for years and never heard of it) but figured something new might work. We placed an order for about 60$ worth of food. Our food came 2 hours after the order was placed (mind you it was a Tuesday). Our food was very cold. The sesame seed chicken was chewy while covered in a thick, heavy layer of sauce. The so called "egg rolls", are actually thin spring rolls, had no filling and were very greasy. We ordered a thing of mixed veggies, they were very soggy. They sat in a yellow colored mixture of oil, water, salt, and whatever else. But it gets worst, our shrimp fried rice had a ball of BLACK, STRAIGHT HAIR. At this point we were so disgusted. Of course, we called the Resturant and asked for a refund; however, they completely refused. I had to go in person and fight for my money back as they called me every name in the book. Very racist, sexist staff and management... If youre going to have ignorant staff at least have edible food!

Seriously, I hav been in Chicago almost 2 year, this is the first restaurant that triggers my nostalgia. As an international student from Taiwan, Its kinda hard to find a really authentic Taiwanese restaurant in town. But I have to admit, besides the China town, a place that serves Chinese food in general, Lotus has the taste that we truly familiar with. If you want to try something more "Taiwan" oriented, this is the right place you should visit. Theres a list of specific Taiwanese food in the last page of the menu. I would highly recommend Taiwanese beef noodle soup, Taiwanese sausage with glutinous rice and, last but not least, Taiwanese fried chicken, which has a unique flavor that distinguish itself from other fried chicken. In short, the place takes approximately 20mins drive from downtown, and I would definitely give Lotus a big thumbs up.

Great! We had our Christmas Day meal at Lotus and we were not disappointed. All four of us ordered from the authentic Taiwanese menu; each dish was very good and had its own distinct flavors. (Are you tired of going to Asian restaurants and most of the dishes taste nearly the same?) Portion size was just right and the price point on each item was of very good value The Crab Rangoon is the best Ive ever had! The employees were very respectful and observant! (A big plus) They were even very nice and totally accommodating to some customers that were just too about themselves if you know what I mean. It was a fifteen minute drive with little traffic, Lotus is our new home for Asian food!

well i decided to order food from there today and i must say that i am very disappointed ..the food got there with in 1,20 min when they said it was going to be here in 40 min. and the food that we order wasnt even good .alot of rice and noodles but not so much of the meat or shrimp...we placed an order chicken with veggies and add shrimp to it ..so they charged us the oposite way around which was more expenisive..and overall i dont recomend this place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you from scale 1-10 i say 1 and i shouldnt be wasting my time writing overe here but i had to say my opinion

This is tough for me... I love the food at Lotus and have been a regular customer for years. In the last couple of weeks, however, the service has been subpar and when called out the host has been extremely rude and short. I really hope that what I considered a "hidden gem" for so long hasn't lost it's touch. Lotus GET IT TOGETHER ASAP. Also, please tell your host to quit talking up me like she's crazy. I just want my order to be right!!!

Terrible service.... Just went for pickup and was charged full price not the lunch menu price.. then the girl on the front counter said they dont have a hot sauce ... what kind of Chinese restaurant is this not offering hot sauce... When later called to speak with the manager she hanged up.. Such a rude customer treat... will never go there again

Seems like authentic Chinese and Japanese options. More upscale and a good place for a quiet lunch with a client or friend. Hot tea is standard with each meal and hits the spot. Had trouble with the credit card machine last time we were there and ended up being double charged. Bank resolved without problem.

I was deceived by the high star rating of this place. Their chicken fried rice had no flavor and the spring roll tasted like grease.

Dont understand the 3.8 rating. We have many options and Lotus is best in the area hands down. Try the red pepper flake oil.
