The owner of Pub 56 used to own the Country Cafe in Big Rock, IL (my hometown) and that was (and still is) a great local restaurant. Hearing that he started Pub 56, I was interested to see what it was like. I really like the interior, most importantly the seating layout. The tables and booths are spread far enough apart and evenly. Always nice to be able to have a conversation with the people at your table and not hear others overlap. Lighting was sufficient, although admittedly it was on the darker side. Service was fantastic, and I even saw the owner at the bar overseeing everything (just like how he used to at the country cafe). Waitress was outgoing and got our orders right and quick. Beer selection was impressive. And most importantly, my food was great! I got a burger, and this thing was HUGE. I think next time I order one, Ill eat half of it. I ordered their special wavy/shaved fries with it and they were pretty good and certainly different from the usual. Great experience overall and Ill be back.

Great staff in all areas, host is courteous and accommodating, wait staff listens well and are attentive, even the bus service guy is all over getting those dirty dishes out of the way. The great flavor of their smoked meats are understated. Definitely a destination based on this alone. Broad but simple menu. The beer selection has a nice mix of local and national brands. The environment is comfortable with an even mix of booths, chairs, high top tables. Decent lighting. Game nights can be noisy as there is little noise abatement. I have their food once per week. Wish I could order online.

Our server was okay, not the best. But the food was really good, my 4 year old loved his pizza. I got the crispy chipotle chicken with buffalo sauce and his dad got a cheese burger, both of which were great. The only thing was that my fries were cold, but the server got busy and I didnt bother complaining. The tables near the bar were well lit, while the family seating was very dark. Overall I would recommend coming here. Especially before they start getting busy later at night.

Cant wait to come back! We stopped here because we were shopping at the Outlet Shops -- wasnt expecting much. This place was fantastic! Its a really nice looking pub and the food was outstanding. The basic cheeseburger was to die for. You have to try the crispy pan fried Brussels sprouts -- youll love them. Service was great and waitress was super nice and music was good.

The food has been really good each time, decent portions at fair prices. Decent beer selection although the servers are not very knowledgeable on the beer. You may need to ask the bartender(s) any questions you have on the drinks.

Good atmosphere. I ordered the fried chicken and it was okay, the breading used for the chicken was very salty which I think they did intentionally to make you order more drinks. The side winder fries were good as well.
