My wife went here in lieu of Chick-Fil-A since it was closer to our house. Boy was that a mistake. Even though she was literally the only customer in the dining area, it took 10 minutes to get a server to the table, 30 minutes for our food after ordering, and another 15 minutes to get the check once she asked for it. She was there for over an 1-1/2 hours with a 3-year old and 1-year old at dinner time. The toddler spilled his drink and the 1-year old spit up and the server (or anyone else for that matter) was nowhere to be found. My wife ended up just getting what she needed on her own from the server station. Talk about hell. When asked if could substitute mac-n-cheese for the fries on the kids menu was told we could -- but was up-charged $4 for the mac-n-cheese (and never got fries). When we questioned the up-charge given what we were told by the server, the manager came out and argued with my wife; appeared annoyed instead of apologetic and certainly never recognized the difficulty of a mother eating out with a toddler and 1-year old for almost 2 hours. Also, the burger was over-cooked, the fries were cold, and never got drink refills. They had $4.95 burger night, but only if you ordered a drink -- which was just under $3! So, you ended up saving all of $0.49 with the deal! Talk about shady. Unfortunately, this restaurant will never get another dime of my money. I will likewise inform my friends of our experience. I dont want restaurants with careless customer service in my community.

We came in during a slow time for a late lunch. When we walked in the main entrance, it looked like the place was empty. If it hadnt been for the fact that there were cars in the parking lot, we would have turned around then. In hindsight, we should have. We walked around until we saw people, and then sat in the bar area. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come over and greet us because apparently no business is really distracting. We tried some beer samples, all of which took a while to get, and placed our orders. I was incredibly specific that I wanted absolutely no mayo on my burger. We waited about 30 minutes for food to come out, and sure enough my burger was slathered in mayonnaise. After being here almost an hour and having to wait way too long for everything, I decided not to waste any more time on waiting tone disappointed. I told the waitress not to have them remake it, to which she replied "Ill see if the manager will remove it." Im sorry, the lazy kitchen staff couldnt be bothered to do their job. Theres no way Im paying for something that is not what I ordered and that I didnt get. Adding insult to injury, the manager couldnt be bothered to come by and at least apologize for his/her incredibly ineffective staff.

We absolutely love Varners and it is our go-to neighborhood spot! The beer selection is phenomenal & despite being a "tavern" the food is exceptional! I can only provide feedback on the waitstaff that works at the bar because my fiance and I have only eaten in the dining room once. Aaron, Liz, Matt, and Cody are outstanding and always go above and beyond to make your meal and experience fun. There are a few others that always make us feel at home, but I cant recall their names at the moment. If you are a sports fan you wont have any problems finding your game here because TVs are scattered throughout the entire bar area. You can also have a great time with friends by playing pool or darts. They have a few other games like a jumbo Connect Four game as well. Several reviewers mentioned how smokey the bar area is and I would have to agree to a certain extent. Some nights are certainly worse than others. All in all, I love Varners and would highly recommend giving this establishment a chance to become your neighborhood bar!

I just picked up an order of buffalo wings from Varners. I am SO disappointed.....they are TERRIBLE. If there was a rating below poor, Id use it. Its obvious that they fry their wings in the same oil that they fry fish in because the wings had a very bad "fishy" taste. I am familiar with the restaurant business so I know a lot of places who do the same thing. I ordered medium sauce and there was barely even any on the wings. It was like theyd drizzled a very small amount onto them after they were in the container because only the top layer of wings actually had sauce on them. If youre looking for great buffalo wings, Varners is NOT, NOT, NOT the place to have them. Theres a little "mom & pop" place just up the road on Concord (east) that has GREAT wings for half the price but stay away from Varners. Its also loud, smokey, and the bartenders are terrible too.....unless youre a half-way decent looking male 18-24, dont expect them to keep your glass full or your beer cold.

We were looking for a new bar to hang out at and we came across this one after a few visits there we decided we liked it...apparantly we spoke to soon. After weeks of spending huge amounts of money and tipping our waitress excessively because she did an awesome job and being my friends and I are also servers we decided she deserved it. Last weekend our fourth of fifth time one of the cooks decided to come scream "Last call anyone who doesnt get the f*** out will get raped in the a**hole" instead of firing this moron on the spot the kitchen manager cracked up for a good 5 minutes and walks in to say "Im sorry hes just really drunk" So if you like getting cussed out when your paying to drink beer and eat food prepared by a shwasted face douche this is the place for you. Also from a person who used to work there, I hear the local cops come in and the staff tells them who has been drinking so cops can follow them when they leave. Varners...booooo thats a party foul

The food is mediocre at best, but what really did me in was the service - rather, the lack thereof. Ive been a server myself for years so i try to give ppl a break, but there was just no excuse. Our server kim was completely incompetent and rude on top of it. After her forgetting to ring in items, thus delaying the food coming out, we also sat there without basic things like silverware for a good ten minutes while the food got cold. When a manager finally did drop some off, there was nothing - no apology, no how is everything tonight. The bill was wrong, the drinks were forever in coming (she even admitted shed forgotten the drinks), the non-smoking section was also smoky, and honestly, there was nothing that was done correctly. Honestly, one of the worst service experiences Ive had. If i could give a zero rating i would.
