HORRIBLE SERVICE FROM SERVER/OWNER Kris! I went to Oak Street today with some friends from church for lunch and as I was looking at a menu I nicely asked the waitress whose name I believe was Kris if they have any Gluten Free options. I asked her because at the bottom of there menu it says to ask your server about Gluten Free options in small print. It also says to let your server know if you have any allergies including Gluten. (I have a severe Gluten allergy.) She immediately raised her voice and angrily said "I have never heard of that and I dont have that problem so how do you expect me to know!" She made me feel like I had a horrible disease or was wrong for asking a very simple question. She was so angry and rude for no reason that I didnt know what to say. I was in disbelief she was so miserable for no reason. My wife and friends were in disbelief that she treated me that bad for asking a simple question. I felt like a huge burden for having a Gluten allergy. I have never been treated this bad in any restaurant in the 16 countries I have traveled to around the world. My wife and friends felt the same way. The friends that brought us felt really bad because she was completely rude to all of us. They said she has been rude everytime they have had her as a server. I never write reviews but I was treated so bad that I feel like she has to be stopped even if she is one of the owners. She should not serve people or own a business if she doesnt like customer service.. I am a financial advisor and have worked in customer service for over 13 years and I would never treat anyone like this in any setting. The sad part is that the food was pretty good but all we all thought about and talked about was the service from Kris (hope that is the right womens name) being so bad. Having an allergy to Gluten I was nervous the whole time I ate my food. The other staff seemed really friendly and kind. Before I ordered I got up and asked another male server about gluten free options and he was very nice. It is sad that one person will ruin this business if not now in the very near future. DO NOT GO TO THIS Restaurant unless you ask for a different server. I will never go back. The good food is not worth the horrible service from Kris!

I love this place. Always great food and excellent service. Everyone is always friendly and smiling. I would have given 5 stars but today one of the associates left a bad taste in my mouth. But the food was and always is awesome. The associate (Chris W.) Was absolutely rude. I walk in as usual to order my food to go and was not greeted with a hello and a smile but her sort of snarling and asking flat out "What do you want?!" with a nasty eye roll. I was completely disgusted. I just shrugged it off not thinking any thing of it. But she really got snappy when I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and wanted to personalize it the way I wanted. She rolled her eyes and said "So you just want to change the whole sandwich?" with such a nasty attitude. I come here all the time and I have never been treated this way because I like my food a certain way. I only asked for no jalapeños (I have really bad heartburn) and to add arugula, tomato and onion. Simple request. Any way, I continue to shrug it off. Then while I am waiting for my food she stomps toward me saying " They said you usually like the garlic mayo on your sandwich. Do you still want it?" I said yes, I only did not want jalapeño. She then rolls her eyes again and says "Well you are the one that wanted to change everything on the sandwich." Then she rudely storms off. I have never experienced this here. I have been coming for quite some time. And sometimes everyday. But in all there is usually great service and always great food. Thumbs up to the associates that I usually interact with. P.S. Love the meatball sandwich! My favorite!

The food is good but don’t go on a busy night. The staff cannot handle stress. We waited 20 minutes but it did not seem anyone was going to take our order. When we flagged someone down to inquire about getting having our order taken we were snapped at by the waiter who kept walking. When someone finally came to our table he was abrupt and rude. We later found out he was one of the people in charge. After asking politely for our check twice (10 minutes apart) we were once again snapped at by one of the waiters. We did not have a dedicated waiter just several people that we would flag down when we need something. We had theater tickets but had allowed an hour and a half for dinner. We were half hour late to the theater. The restaurant charges $0.75 if you want to split an item on the menu. To me that is like the airlines charging $15 per bag when flying. It should be part of regular business and not an extra fee. This was not our first visit. We visit often and have found that when they are not busy the food is wonderful and the service is friendly but when they are busy they cannot cope. They have plenty of staff available it is just that the staff is mismanaged and lost. One lady simply wandered around aimlessly looking busy while patrons waited for help.

The worst dining experience we’ve ever had. We went in just before 7pm with a 4 year old. As we were being seated, we let them know our little one was hungry, and we needed to order promptly. The waitress came and asked us what we’d like to drink, and we told her we were ready to order. She huffed, as if it were a problem. My wife ordered a burger with everything on it except mustard. When it came, there was no tomato or onion. When we asked the waitress about it, she said “Oh, that’s extra. Do you want it?” We couldn’t believe that we paid $11.50 for a burger and were charged extra for tomato and onion. She was incredibly short with us during our entire meal. When we finished our entrée, she asked if we needed anything else. We had to ask her if they served dessert. She begrudgingly rattled off a few items. On our check we left note that the waitress was unfriendly and if we hadn’t been so hungry, we’d have gone elsewhere. As we were getting in our car, the waitress came chasing after us, yelling that she was not unfriendly with us and to “never come back to our restaurant again.” We called back to speak with a manager or owner, and the waitress answered the phone, was further rude with us and then told us she was one of the owners.

My husband and I eat here quite often, and are known by name by everyone there. They know their regulars but treat everyone well. The staff work as a team with every table to make sure they are taken care of. The food is really good, they change their menu to feature seasonal offerings, with some standards remaining constant. The key is they start with quality ingrediants, then let them shine. Brunch on Sunday is also really good, they are the only resturant in town that Ive found both offers stone ground grits AND cooks them well. Its sadly hard to find good grits ...not here. Creamy and al dente, they are amazing. When I have family or friends to take to dinner and want to make sure its a good experiance, I go here.
