My family and I decided to eat at the pool room yesterday. I have heard many mixed reviews, but mostly that it is not worth the drive. When we entered, there was only a few tables with people and many dirty tables. We had to stand around for a few minutes until the server finally cleaned off a table for us. My sister was raving about the burgers and fries, so I waited patiently. There is a sign in the restaurant that reads, "this is not a fast food restaurant. The food is made to order and worth the wait". I would have gone somewhere else if I had realized that the wait would be an hour to get our food. My little nephew was crying about being hungry after 30 minutes of waiting and all we ordered for him was a cheese sandwich. I was really hoping this place would be a hidden gem, but the food is not worth the wait. The price is okay and it does have pool tables to help pass the time. I am sure some people love the Pool Room, but I have no desire to ever eat there again.

2 out of 5 stars. I dont see what the big deal is. The burgers are "okay," I had two, but they are *way* overpriced considering what you get. I asked the waitress how big the burgers were. She seemed lost in the question so I gave some examples (e.g., 1/4 pound. 1/3 pound, 1/2 pound, etc.). She returned with an answer of 3/4 pound. Fail. The cut fries left A LOT to be desired. There is much more I could say but I will let the inspector catch it and grade them on it. I know this: its not a good idea to see the cook messing with the ceiling tiles and knocking fiberglass insulation chunks/fibers down very near the grill/cooking area. To be fair, he wasnt preparing food (that I could see, seated) at the time. The staff was nice and patient with our ordering.

Its alright its not what it used to be. I think they need to reevaluate where they came from and how they got there and go back to that way. The service is more worried about other things that are happening in the back or out back than the customer. Sad really because we enjoy the place its close to home and the kids love the pool tables. Probably will give it another chance.

I recently went to the Pool Room and there wer roaches EVERYWHERE!!!!! I Had one in my salad and my husband moved to napkin holder only to discover three more underneath. We simply asked the waitress (who was wearing next to nothing) for the check and we left. NEVER will we visit The Pool Room again.

Very good cooked to order food. Best burger, fries, and sweet tea in town. This place is world known for a reason! Pool Room was made famous back in Bill Elliotts racing day and its been the same, good ole burger joint for decades.

Awesome place, unless youre a Yankee carpetbagger. Get a Burger, fried pickles, and sweet tea and youll be in southern heaven (like heaven would be anywhere other than Dixie). No beer or smoking though - Its not a roadhouse.

Still the best burger I have ever had! I had to stop in and order myself a bully burger with cheese today. After being in the Navy and taking a couple trips around the world, there is still nothing like it. Nice to be home!

I have loved this place and the food for years now. I grew up eating here as a great when I was young. Only suggestion I have is to go back to having the decorations that were before and maybe better servers.
