Went there twice in one visit....for the first time and the last time. First of all, the service was so so at best. Everyone there was completely indifferent. The place was busy, but it appeared only because South Main Kitchen and Butcher and Brew were hosting a private party. Our waiter had the personality of a old tire. The appetizers were.......weak. The hummus and vegetables were an embarrassment. The hummus lacked flavor, the carrots were waxy and rubbery and stale, and the celery was brown and had clearly been sitting out quite a while. The pimento crustini was a half good dish. The pimento spread was very good, however it was presented on sliced baguette that was a hard as the table we were sitting at. I was very concerned about breaking a tooth trying to eat this. I thought the server would get a message when he picked up the plate and see the baguette still on it, but his cluelessness was obvious. Later in the meal, I mentioned the diamond like hardness of the baguette to the server and challenged him to ask the chef to eat four pieces and see if he could avoid a dentist trip the next day, but our server again was completely stoic and comatose unresponsive. I mentioned the state of the appetizer in the hopes the restaurant "might do the right thing", but that did not happen either. The burgers were fair, but this was not an enjoyable restaurant experience and therefore the burgers go down for the count as well. The place literally has hundreds of beer choices, but again, our server was as useless as a white crayon when it came to any recommendation that matched my particular tastes. The onion rings were fair, but a bit battery and slightly underdone. This was one meal that quite frankly, I was glad when it was over. If your tastes are strictly beer and burgers, go and enjoy. If looking for anything beyond this, then be sure to look beyond this place.....and you dont have to look far. *** the one star selected was only for the purpose of being able to post the review. It should be zero stars.

If I could could give less then one star I would. Being in the service industry myself the way I was treated honestly made me uncomfortable and fearful! My girlfriend and I were quickly seated by a host who looked like he had just got thrown onto the floor for the first time and repetitively told customer that he didnt know how long their wait would be but they just had to wait till he was ready to seat them. As well as being sat by the front door which wasnt that awful unless you consider being smacked by every passing purse, bag, and baby car seat passing by enjoyable. While looking at the menu a young guy in a teal shirt and white and black snap back quickly bombarded the table and told us he would be serving us, something about him seemed alarmingly off for how wide his eyes were when we was looking around and how hard he was smacking his gum. When asked a couple questions about the items on the menu because we were simply craving a delisous burger, which a couple of people pointed us in this direction, but with observation of the food around us and with a couple of short answers he was reluctant to give we had decided that we wanted to dine at another establishment. We apologized for the mark in rotation and thanked him for his time but then he became aggressive and I honestly was to scared to stand up from the table and leave till he had left our table. He was agrresive from the beginning and I wish I could tell you his name but he never introduced himself or was polite in any way! He then turned around and told us to just go to McDonalds if their burgers werent good enough. Honestly I wanted to try hop allyss food, maybe a later date because I was truly curious about it but after this I can say I wont be going back and I am going to have to warn people to do the same unless they are ready for the kind of harassment we endured... I will say the best part of being at this restraunt was saying hello to an old friend as we ran out the door in fear that this guy would turn around and do something crazy if we didnt...

Let me start by saying I used to love this place. It was my husbands and my go to place when we wanted good food and beer. However, Hop Alley has gone downhill the last few months. The food is not as fresh as it used to be and front house and kitchen service is pretty bad. We went to Hop Alley today for lunch. We waited up front for 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. When we were seated, our service was incredibly slow. Our server was nice, but it took us almost 2 hours to get our entrees. We had our kids with us (ages 5 and 2), so they got restless waiting that long for their lunch. The burger I ordered looked and tasted like preformed frozen patties. Plus, it was overcooked and burned on one side (I ordered medium rare). We spent a total of 2.5 hours there. What a waste of our day. The only things that made the experience better was that there was live music outside from the neighboring festival and our server cut our bill in half for the long wait. Im very sad that our last 4 experiences here have been progressively worse each time. Todays visit was our final visit. I refuse to pay money to be disappointed. Their beer is still great, but its just not worth the headache to go there.

We love downtown Alpharetta and love the restaurants there - except this one. We will not be going back to Hop Alley. I suppose if all you care about is the beer, maybe its worth going there. If you want good food, go somewhere else. My husband had two beers. They were ok, but we arent beer connoisseurs. We ordered the hummus appetizer. This hummus had no flavor and the vegetables were a joke. I cant believe anyone would send vegetables like that out of their kitchen. The carrots were so dry and the celery was brown. Seriously. We also had the pimento cheese crostini. The pimento cheese was outstanding, however, the bread was stale. Hard. Impossible to chew. Who sends food like this out of their kitchen? We also ordered burgers. They werent bad, but not worth going back for. The Gouda mac n cheese was awful. Flavorless. The onion rings are not awful, but not good either. Again, if you want good food, go somewhere else. For a beer and a burger, I guess this place would be ok.

Enjoyed the house-made beers. They also have a dizzying amount of Belgian, German, and Trappist beers both on tap and in bottles. Its also they only place Ive been to that has a number of Flemish sours to try. Its a little on the expensive side, but for the rarity and quality of what youre getting, its probably worth it. The service and food were also good. We enjoyed the burgers and homemade pork rinds. We were excited to try the mac and cheese too, but it was cold when it was served and kind of killed it. All of their entrees are made from locally-sourced ingredients so you can always feel good about getting high quality food while supporting the community at the same time. Get a side of the cheese sauce - its amazing.
