Attenpted to go to red star rock bar this evening with a few friends. Ordered a pitcher and was asked for identification, which I completely understand. Presented said identification and was told by the bartender that he would not be able to accept my ID. When asked why, I was told the "edges were off" and that it "seemed off". I promptly presented a credit and debit card with the same name, only to be told I would not be served. I asked if my ID had been scanned, swiped, or examined under a black light, and was told that this wouldnt be necessary, as the bartender who appeared younger than my 26 year old self, felt that my ID was not legitimate. I patronize many restaurants and bars within the same area and can safely say I will not attempt to order an adult beverage at red star rock bar again, unless I am equipped with my passport, FL issued drivers license, debit card, credit card, and health insurance card.

Best new bar in the Old Seminole Heights district of Tampa, which has become the hip new spot to hang out! Red Star has done an excellent job with Atmosphere, Full liquor selection, and of course a great Beer selections as well.. Add to this prompt and knowledgeable bartenders, live music and great food trucks on weekends, and karaoke on Wednesdays! The decor is cool with a classic rock theme, fantastic art work, a large outdoor patio and even small touches the Chics love like plug in stations for your phone, purse hooks under the bar and really cool bathrooms. :-) Go check it out today! Located on N Florida Ave just south of Hillsborough Ave, the area is now home to a nice little strip of eateries, craft beer spots and now Red Star!

The Red Star Rock Bar is an open venue with a stage, seating outside, and an indoor seating area with a full-stocked bar. Local artists have their work hung on the walls, purchasable should one meet your fancy. An indoor jukebox keeps music at the whim of the people. When theres a band, people usually flock to listen. Perhaps to save on money, the indoors do not run air-conditioning so it may be best to grab your drink and head outside. The drinks are a little over-priced, perhaps because the establishment is still small. Come for the liquor, the live band, and the food truck outside if you so desire. But, unlike the other bars on the same street, youll have to be mindful of yourself when starting that tab.

An awful addition to the neighborhood, the live "music" is cranked so loud it can be heard for blocks in every direction. Even when they dont have a group performing the canned music is played loudly on their back patio until 3am. Unfortunately, the owners seem to be completely indifferent to their negative impact on the neighborhood. They also seem to be completely indifferent to the repeated complaints from their neighbors.

This place is for everyone! They have a good mix of craft beers and domestic usual favorites. They have great happy hour specials and they have their own version of a Red Ale! Also Ive noticed that almost everyone there is named Ryan, so just shout Ryan and hope somebody turns around if you dont know anybody at first lol

I could fall in love with this place just for the music memorabilia on the walls. It happens to be a fun little bar too! Watch out for those bartenders though, they will have you talking and laughing all night long. We went in for one drink and had so much fun that we closed the place down. Hahaha! Fun times!

I really enjoyed this bar. It had a great atmosphere and pretty friendly staff. Also an awesome back porch area that they have live music at all the time, with a great food stand right next to it. Only downside is service is a bit slow inside, it looked like they could have used one more bartender.

Drinks are great, its a cool place with a fun atmosphere. My favorite thing is the Blue Comedy at the Red Star (comedy open mic) they have every other Thursday. Its a beautiful venue for comedy and the hosts Becca and CJ are very funny and professional. The best open mic in Tampa!

I met a few friends here and we talked and had tasty libations until it was almost 2:00am! The atmosphere and volume of music was sufficient to allow us to have conversation without straining our voices. The songs we bought never played on the jukebox though!

Red Star Rock Bar in Seminole Heights off Hillsborough Ave is a pretty cool rock bar with a red theme but their terrible dirt parking lot with nails in it gave me flat tire. Unless you like spending hundreds of dollars on new tires, dont go here!

Just went last night, karaoke was a blast. Christy was super nice and makes a mean Kentucky Mule!! Ill definitely be back. Next time Ill check out the Thai food truck in the parking lot.

Great bar on a night out. Fun "gypsy juice" wheel - you spin the wheel twice and whatever it lands on, you mix and shoot! The music is always fun and bumpin, along with the videos.
