I got very sick within 15 minutes of eating at this place. Severe headache, vomiting and diarrhea. Felt so bad I called "Ask-a-nurse" from my insurance company. Because of the headache they insisted I go to the emergency room immediately. I felt so bad I was scared that it was something more serious, so I went to emergency room. They did a lot of testing to rule out brain or heart problems. Passed tests no problem. They said it was more than likely the food. I had no doubt because of how fast it happened. I was sick for two days and missed work both days. I contacted the deli several times...most times manager/owner not there so I left my number. No call back. I did finally reach the manager/owner and he was skeptical. All I was asking for was my $125 insurance co-pay and 1 days pay. Since he seemed skeptical I suggested he think about it and get back to me. He never did. I have tried to reach him...left my number and went into the deli. No response from him. Im going to try one more time. If no resolution I will contact my attorney and since I actually lost 2 days of work the amount Im seeking will be higher plus the attorneys fees. I cant believe this business owner is handling a rather small thing so poorly. Of course, it wont be so small if I have to get my attorney involved. Anyway, I ate the Italian chicken breast and a salad. Im guessing it was the chicken.

Today was my first visit and will definitely be my last!. I went with a group of co-workers who had eaten there before. I ordered a Fried Shrimp Po Boy with tartar sauce. It was advertised as coated with cornmeal and fried but when it came the shrimp were not coated in anything and looked like grilled shrimp. Everyone at my table agreed and suggested I take it back. The tartar sauce looked like wet mustard potato salad. When I spoke with the young lady that took my order she said, "That is fried" and walked away. I went to the counter and spoke with the owner and he too said it was fried. He went further to say that it had be dredged in flour and cornmeal yet there was not a spec of either. He said it was New Orleans style and apparently I dont know how its made in New Orleans. Not only have I had a New Orleans Po Boy, I know what flour and cornmeal look like. He was very rude about the situation. He offered a replacement in a way he did not truly mean and then asked if I wanted a refund. He slammed a $10 bill on the counter and said, "Will that work!? I cannot believe this is the way to run a business. I dont care if every other item in the place is delicious, I will never know because I will never return!

Very happy we tried this sandwich place! Had the turkey sandwich on wheat and the Italian sausage and cheese sandwich. Both were great but the Italian sausage and cheese was amazing! Great thick bread and quality Italian sausage with grilled peppers/onions and provolone cheese. We will definitely be returning. The service(I think it was the owner) was awesome and it has a a very cool old fashioned sandwich shop atmosphere. Reminded me of a sandwich shop up north actually. Great place!

I visited Mott & Hester Deli today for the first time. Its a nice little establishment off the beaten path. I ordered the Little Italy and it was outstanding! I had great flavor with the right amount of spice. It was very reasonably priced compared to mainstream sandwich shops. I will definitely be returning as a repeat customer and trying the various sandwiches and pastas.

Another Tampa classic - youll always see the same people coming in here. The food is great, try the philly cheese steak sandwich. Pasta dishes are also delicious, pasta is made in house. Try the macaroni and cheese - they offer a super interesting take on that dish!

We couldnt even eat there. There was an awful smell which was very of putting and made my pregnant sister nauseous. The sides in the counter looked old and was coloring, which is normally due to not being cold enough.

Absolutely amazing food! I recommend either the Cuban or Reuben sandwich. The recent remodel made an already great establishment even better.

A nice, quality deli that focuses on good sandwiches. With a recent remodel inside this local fixture is always a great bet for lunch.
