Ive been here twice before and it was good. Tonight the food was gross tasted old and bland. I ate three bites told the waiter i didnt want it. He got the manager. Sam came over very rude and turned the restaurant into a hostile environment. Said hes cooked the same way for 26 years and its my problem if I didnt like it. Jerked up the plate and left. They brought us a bill I told the waiter that I didnt feel like I should have to pay for my meal that I took 3 bites out of and he turned around and got the manager again. The manager came back over started yelling at me saying the same thing that its my fault I dont like it and that he ate from my plate and the food was good. Never offered me a replacement or apologized. After being harassed and verbally abused for over 30 minutes I called the cops to see what I could do the cops came and tried to talk to him and he got hostile with them and finally after an hour of sitting we finally came to an agreement of paying half the bill. He told me to never come back because I was a stupid problem person. I asked for my plate back so I could take a picture to have proof of exactly how much I ate and he told the police that he ate from it and offered me back the same plate to eat out of that is disgusting. I have never in my life been treated so poorly I would never recommend anybody to go to this place. I wouldnt even give it one star but I had to write this review.

Tried this restaurant based on reviews but a little disappointing. The restaurant decor was nice and staff was friendly, but had to ask for items instead of having it available during service, like drink straws and napkins. Extensive menu like a typical Chinese take out / dim sum. Not sure where to start on the food...The pork ribs was tough, gamey, and has on off smell. The chicken feet was bland and came in varying shades of red. Pork meat buns - the buns itself was soft and perfect, filling was a little suspect as you cant tell if its pork as it was grounded up extremely fine and coated with a thick sauce. Custard cups was in a small side, tasted ok. Sesame balls was on point. Oolong tea was great, especially when washing off the after taste of their dim sum. We ended up getting a braised beef hot pot, took about 20 min, tasty but not a lot of beef, most are filler bok choy, onions and chewy/tough beef ligaments and gristle... The only thing we didnt try is their shabu-shabu, but I doubt it if well ever coming back to try it.

This place used to be amazing, years ago. It used to have nice and friendly staff. We went recently, and we left really disappointed. The food wasnt bad, but the girl that was our waitress acted like we were an inconvenience to her, even tho we were the ONLY customers in the whole restaurant. She never cleared any of the dirty appetizer plates off the table, she just kept letting them pile up. The whole time we were there, she had this face on her like she was miserable! I didnt say anything , but my mother was upset as soon as we left, and its very hard to upset my mother. They really ought to fire her because she is bringing the business down hill! Sadly, we will more than likely never go back because of the piss poor service we received. We have been coming to the restaurant for over a decade, spending lots of money, but I think were done. Its sad, and they will probably go out of business because of the horrible service. Ho Ho used to be packed, and now its just dead. Such a shame.

Went there for sushi because of high reviews, saw they had dim sum so I ordered a few dishes I am familiar with. Sushi was bad. Tiny amounts of fish, a bland cardboard taste and the texture and appearance didnt suggest it was overly fresh. Below average even for this area. What really gets this place into one star territory was the dim sum. The texture and taste was awful and just plain wrong. The shu mai tasted like freezer burned breakfast sausage and the steamed pork buns tasted someone had put dry hamburger meat in a pile of syrup. Didnt take much effort to figure out why- the wrappers were still under the dumplings (complete with brand names), which is apparently bulk frozen Chinese dumplings from Costco or some restaurant supply store. They just reheat in a steamer and give to the customer. Why youd come here when there are places nearby that serve proper dim sum is beyond me. Prices were about average for Chinese food in this area, but the quality is significantly below average.

Simply put, worse than average homemade and expensive, definitely not professionally cooked. Do not ever go there! My family arrived in Tampa early this afternoon and I wanted to find some good Chinese restaurants. Both Ho Ho Choy and Yummy House showed up with fantastic reviews in Google but Yummy House only opens at 5:30, so I went to Ho Ho Choy. I ordered double cooked pork, beef and fish dishes. The double cooked pork are mostly cabbages with green/red pepper and has little meat, they also charged me $2 more because they did not use lean meat! Beef and fish dishes are also mostly veges with little meat and tasted so bad that I went to Yummy House on Hillsborough again! The dishes are really Yummy! Ho Ho Choy fish dish I ordered is 40% more expensive than Yummys ( $13.95 vs.$9.95) but has less fish meat and tasted mush worse! Do not ever go there!

Absolutely LOVE the hot pot at this restaurant! I always get the Chicken Broth and Beef combination hot pot and savor every spoon! The only downside was the slight discrimination encountered from our waiter. The first time I ventured into this restaurant with my best friend, both of us are white and Eastern European, the waiter scoffed at our request for chopsticks; his exact words were "Do you even know HOW to use chopsticks?" We looked at him in surprise and said "Yes, were quite familiar with using chopsticks." He laughed and replied "Oh, well just how you look, I didnt think so." Its unfortunate that every time I return here for the yummy hot pot, I recall this first impression of the staff.

I tried this restaurant on a whim from the comment below and absolutely loved it. I have had Chinese in restaurants all around the United States and this, by far, is the best Ive ever had. They have the largest selection of dim sums I have ever seen and the staff was very personable. There were people constantly available for anything else we needed, without being too annoying. The food came out quite promptly and steaming hot and fresh. I was suprised at the very cheap for the amount of food we got. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I love the food my family and I eat here all the time!!! I have had one bad experience with them when they gave my order to the wrong customer and called them back to the restaurant to bring the food back and tried to give me the food the customer had brought back. They refused to make me some fresh food and when I asked for a refund they said it will take a couple of days to put it back on my card. I actually had to wait 2 months for this to happen!!! I talked to the owner or someone who posed as the owner assured me that this will never again.
