My husband and I first went to Portobellos 11 years ago and we absolutely loved it--the service was great, food was excellent, and the atmosphere was nearly romantic for being on Disney property. Since then we havent gone back due to various reasons-baby, group trips, etc. Though we did not make plans this trip, we were excited that we were able to make reservations 30 minutes before we wanted to have dinner! We were finally going to return to one of our favorite Disney restaurants. It quickly became evident why we were able to make reservations on such short notice. We ordered our drinks--the drinks came out and we ordered our food--salad, entree and dessert. Our son had a problem with his soda not having the syrup so we asked for it to be changed. Before we knew it our entree came out. Notice I didnt mention the salad. We didnt receive the salad until after our entree. We never received the signature bread and roasted garlic until after our salads because according to our waiter the bread wasnt ready yet. When we finally received the coveted bread and roasted garlic the bread was cold and the garlic (which typically spreads like butter) was gooey, dark brown and shriveled in its husks. OH, after my son was nearly finished with his meal, we finally got his drink back! Despite all the blatant screw ups, our waiter never got a manager. The manager wasnt even walking the restaurant floor. He was standing by the exit wishing everyone a great night. The saving grace was that when approached regarding the service we received, he knocked 50% off of our meal. Needless to say, this will be on our short list of Disney restaurants to avoid in the future.

PROS: Good food, friendly staff CONS: Kids menu lacking, adult menu could be expanded We went to downtown Disney expecting to eat at the T-REX Dinosaur restaurant but the wait was insane and my kids were a little unsure about the giant animatronic dinos. We walked down to Portobellos and were seated immediately. At first we were put in a small booth but asked for a window seat. They accommodated us and we had a nice table by the window. Unfortunately our only view was of the ugly taco truck but thats not their fault. I had a the pork shoulder it melted in my mouth and if it wasnt an upper class restaurant I would licked the bowl. The rice balls, though a bit expensive, were awesome and I would go back just for those. The only con was the kids meals, its either spaghetti or pizza, and over priced spaghetti at that. A little chicken parm or something would have been nice for the kids. Our waiter was pleasant and resembled Seth Rogen and even did a little imitation when we mentioned the resemblance. I would recommend this if you are tired of hamburgers, chicken nuggets and pizza (if you eat at the parks or hotels you know what I mean) A little on the expensive side buts its Disney so everything is a bit expensive.

We decided to eat dinner here and I have to say that the dinner service started out great. Our server was great through the night, the problem came with the managers. Another family was seated next to us about 10 minutes after we arrived. This family was definitely a VIP family since the manager and chef came to great them. We ordered our food and dessert before the family next to us, but ours was their children were served before ours. I ordered the salmon as did the father next to me, but there was a big difference between the plates. We paid and then on the way out I spoke with the assistance manager. I asked him about the quality of service and why my orders were brought to the table after the other family and why the difference in quality. He played dumb as if he didnt know what I was talking about even though he was standing with the manager watching the family eat. He would not give me straight answer. I understand that restaurants have VIPs and I have no problem with it. I just dont understand why the assistant manger played dumb.

Ate here today with family and was expecting to have really nice meal for the price. Although most of the food was alright, the prices are absolutely ridiculous for the quality and quantity of food. I got the shrimp fettuccine, which had a total of 3 shrimp. I kept digging through the pasta hoping for more, but was left in sadness. Yes the fettuccine itself was fine, but it was nothing to write home about. I ordered a cannoli for desert and was surprised to be brought back to my childhood when I realized the chocolate on top was actually Hersheys Chocolate Syrup. Not exactly what you expect from a expensive Italian restaurant. As far as positives go, I enjoyed the egg plant fries quite a bit, and they came with a generous number compared to the quantity of everything else we ordered. Also the service was good, and our food was out fairly quickly. Wouldnt recommend, but if you do end up coming, get a pizza. They are delicious, my brother ordered one and I stole a slice, and about half the price of everything else.

We can not say enough about the people and food at Portobellos Orlando. I made reservations for a wedding rehearsal dinner for 32 people from Tucson. Working from long distance always makes me nervous, but Jessica made things easy from pictures of table arrangement to menu and wine list help. Because I am not familiar with the layout of Downtown Disney - getting parked close to the restaurant was a bit challenging but boy was it worth it! We ran a little bit late, but the servers were more than patient with us. Michelle and Jason did a outstanding job making sure our guests were taken care of. The food was way beyond expectations, our menu included steak and the fresh catch of the day. Of course being at Downtown Disney gave all my guests something to do after dinner, great live music just outside the restaurant - just made our visit a pleasure. Thanks so much for everything.

This was by far, the most overpriced Italian meal with very lackluster quality. The spaghetti sauce was worse than Ragu, with its acidic watery consistency. My plate was the only one with any "flavor" apparently. The rest of my group complained that their meals were as bland as ever. We had the staff pass by our table 3 times to douse our meals with parmesan cheese, anything to add some taste. The line is always so long so I made reservations thinking that it would be worth the many times Ive missed eating here....huge disappointment. The only tasty part of the meal was the cheap bottle of Reisling that I ordered. At least the staff was pleasant. But they must know the food stinks because they never came by to ask if everything was OK. Nearly $200 later, Im sad to say that youre better off eating at Olive Garden.
