I have been here several times, and each time it has been delicious and fun! The place is a Japanese BBQ but they also have a lot of Korean-influenced food, as well. The environment is very exciting, and the decorations and table settings are very thematic of Japan. There is a variety of options for meat, and all are soft, tender, and juicy. However, my favorite meat is the Kobe Style Galbi Short Rib. It was the best Galbi I have ever eaten. Every bite led to a burst of juice and savory flavors. Another favorite of mine is the Spicy Chigae Ramen. For Miami, I would say the quality of the ramen here is very good. Its not too spicy that I cant eat it, and the medley of spices dance in my mouth. However, it isnt consistent. Sometimes it can be really great, and other times it can be okay. For dessert, I had the green tea mille crepe and the smores. The green tea mille crepe was refreshing, not too sweet, and very delicious. The smores were an experience! They let us use the barbecue grill fire to roast the marshmallows like a campfire! The service is much better during dinner hours than lunch hours, for some reason. At night, the staff is very friendly. The manager always comes around and asks everyone if theyre having a good experience and he is always smiling. Great customer service at night! All in all, this is my new favorite Japanese BBQ place and I will definitely be coming back!

First of all, the cheap $6 valet right next to it makes the trip hassle free. The decor is wonderful reminding me of a restaurant in Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan. A modern stylistic take on the traditional Japanese interior. The tables were impeccable as was the grill. The crew greeted us politely and parted ways with an "arigatou onegaishimasu" (Thank you). With that our server was wonderful; he was quick and knew what we wanted. Now on to the food, the best part. It was delicious, from the chef-made sppetisers: my girlfriend and I delighted ourselves with the spicy chigae ramen from a broth that stood besides culinary gods, a slightly above average miso soup and a good but passable best seller volcano tuna. Now, on to the grilling, taking a page from the tapas menu like melting pot, Gyu-Kaku brings the prepared raw meat to you. We took the Kobe cut kalbin beef that melted in our mouths, the beef tongue which was surprisingly good, as well as some passable lamb chops and mushrooms. We were not able to delight ourselves in the mochi as they ran out, but we did try the 1000 green crepe, a twist on the mille feuillle, which my girlfriend loved. I personally felt it was a tad blend. All in all, the ambience was perfect, as was the service. The price may a bit steep but it will feel satisfying. The food will either be delicious orvst the very least, good. I strongly recommend it!

Horrible experience. Went there around 7:45 pm tonight with my friend - spur of the moment decision so did not have reservation. Was told by Maitre D that there will be a 15 minute wait. She said we could get a drink at the bar while we waited - and that sounded good. My friend had traveled all day and was hungry so asked if we could eat at the bar. The Maitre D said its a short wait why not just wait for a table. So we waited And waited. Others came we assume without reservation as they waited a few minutes and and got seated. We saw plenty of customers leave after having dinner. After 20 minutes we asked her how much longer. By this time, restaurant had become quite busy. She tells us "I thought you are eating at the bar". We told her that she is the one who persuaded us to wait for a table. She says give me 10 more minutes to get another table. In the meantime there are empty tables. One guy comes in and says he wants a different table and she accommodates. But never is there an urgency to get us seated. So after 15 minutes when she had not gotten back we pay for the drinks and leave. The one star is for the bartender who was really nice.

Horrible service, wish I could give no stars at all. I made a reservation for 7:45pm and got there at 7:50pm I waited 10 min to get seated after we had a reservation. Table was dirty, greasy. The square seats were sinking us in one of them was unusable, the servers name Andrea was completely non-attentive to our needs I needed regular silverware and napkins, had to get them myself, no opportunity for water refills, the foods had extremely small portions the plates were extremely small and made a mess everywhere. Food was overpriced $140 for a course for 4 people. My bill ended up being $200 for adding a couple beers a couple noodle and rice refills and not to mention, tip was included, 18%, but that is for 6 guests dining, we were 5, so our server put in the system we were more so it automatically adds up on automatic tip charge. Completely unacceptable will never come to this place again. Think twice about coming to gyu kaku brickell.

This restaurant is a must do in Miami! Twice! Its great entertainment cooking your own food in the BBQ pit, but I was also unexpectedly thrilled at how the food, start to finish, was exceptional quality. The Korean dumplings were the best Ive even had, amazing fresh-off-the-farm tasting salad, steak that melts in the mouth, etc. The restaurant is quite new, thus impeccably decorated in contemporary Asian high style and spotlessly clean. The prices are very reasonable, but if youre starving, or want to sample everything, you can still run up a bill. Two beers and stuffing ourselves ran about $40. Service was competent: friendly and reasonably knowledgeable, but as is true with most restaurants these days, its a weird team effort, so you get visits from 5 different people during the meal. Hard to know from whom to order, etc. Hurry, I cant imagine that prices arent going to go up and reservations will be harder to come by.

The food was good and concept of cooking at your individual table is neat. That said, it was a little pricier than we expected for the quality of the food, Unfortunately our experience was soured by the attitudes of the hostess/server. We asked to see a menu before we decided to sit grab an appetizer. When we were ready to sit, the hostess assumed we were leaving. When we decided to order, our server seemed put off by the fact that we just wanted to eat lite and would not be ordering the larger meals she suggested. She was fairly rude and in fact, never came back to our table after we got our food. Our water was never refilled. She eventually brought our check. The owner or manager came by early on and was very nice. It is a neat concept, but we never felt comfortable the way a server should make you feel. She/they just seemed arrogant.
