The restaurant is clean and the seating comfortable. The food was fresh and tasted good. The service was far under par. To be served, you order at a counter and the food is brought to you. This is not evident though there are no signs which say seat yourself, or order here. This may be an obvious practice on a busy lunch shift on a weekday, but yesterday, mothers day at 2:30 it was not busy at all. We stood in the doorway for about 4 minutes, with no acknowledgement, no hi, no welcome, no seat yourself, no smile, no pleasantry of any kind. We made our way to a table, I excused myself to go out and meet the rest of our party, no one approached my friend seated at a high top to instruct him or inquire if he wanted anything. When the party got there and went to order, the staff members stood at the counter looking at a cell phone rather than engage in conversation or invite us to place an order. When we left no-one looked up to say goodbye. My son complemented the food, and since no-one looked vested enough to bother expressing my disappointment in the lack of hospitality in a hospitality industry establishment, I bit my tongue and left. I will not go back; I will not recommend the restaurant.

Much larger inside than it looks (you won’t just see the laptop-working crowd in here but actual lunch munchers as well) the layout and look is great with its brick walls, welcoming coffee counter up front and views of the kitchen at the rear. The café fare is simple and natural— each ingredient shines well on its own. I’ve enjoyed the simplicity of the Chicken Ranch Club Sandwich and Sweet Tango Salad. And of course the coffee is great too. I tried the Gingerbread latte (a special at the time) was perfect for the chill outside. That Ginger spice wasn’t overwhelming yet was tasted all the way to the last drop.

This is a wonderful place to go.. if you want a nice, peaceful coffee, snack, meal, wine..whatever. I have tried many menu items, I bring my family there, and we frequently have coffees there and have never had anything below excellent. Dont let the prices deter you (a meal will run about 7-$8, and coffee drinks are comparable to Starbucks in price), the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. The decor is charming and appealing to every age group, and the staff is always very pleasant and on point. could not ask for a better bistro, and I am very happy it is in my city. :)

Ive lived in Lakeland for several years now and Black & Brew was just never my favorite spot. However, this year I popped in there for a meeting and everything seemed to have changed. The whole place had a more cohesive brand, the menu was great - clear design that didnt distract me from making a decision but helped me do so, and great, refreshed decor that made for a wonderful atmosphere. Ive now been several more times and its become a favorite spot of mine for lunch, coffee, a meeting, etc., in Lakeland. Their food is fantastic, as are their drinks and treats!

When is comes to great locally owned businesses in Lakeland, Black and Brew always stands out as a local favorite, but I think its important to note the level of service the Black and Brew team offers for catering and large orders for events. We have been ordering lunches for our Leadercast Unplugged events for the past 5 months and the experience has been top-notch. If you need something delicious for your staff meetings (big or small) or an event youre planning, consider the diverse menu available here! You wont be disappointed!

The food was very good! I read a post that eluded to the price being a little high but I think its a very its a very good value, and lets face it. a burger joint is cheaper but you get what you pay for, I highly recommend Black and Brew. Also the nice people having a meal the afternoon we were there looked like college kids and hey we all remember how broke we were in those days.LOL We loved it, keep up the good work guys, I suggest we buy those collegians a cup of coffee next time we are there.

In town for a family visit and made our first visit. Really good vanilla latte. My wife and I return for lunch and had great sandwiches and a salad. The atmosphere was like a nice little neighborhood coffee shop. There was a group playing bridge at one table, people with their computers studying, having business meetings and others just enjoying lunch and having a nice day in a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it for anyone in Lakeland or anyone coming from out of town.

A fantastic place to get a coffee or snack, the Black & Brew has been a staple of downtown Lakeland for several years. A recent remodel has updated the coffee house to virtually a hipster mecca. The outdoor seating area is flanked by wall-mounted planters and reclaimed wood paneling which looks very classy. The open, brightly-lit main seating area is welcoming and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Prices are a little above average, but the quality is well worth it.

9/2012~~We were on our way from the Ruskin area to SC and then back home to PA. I wanted to see Lakeland and its just beautiful. Love the square. Saw the Black and Brew and wanted to stop but we were pulling our travel trailer and there was no where to park. Sorry we couldnt find a place to park after I saw these reviews. Didnt eat there but I just put all 3s so my comment would be published.

Had the egg, spinach, pesto, and goat cheese breakfast panini. Fabulous. Loved that there was a table of knitters at one end of the restaurant, couples having breakfast in the middle, runners from the morning fun-run 5K outside and young families sitting inside near the door. Its a place that works well for people of all ages and stages. Staff was friendly, helpful, and full of smiles.

be prepared to wait! This place is super popular so around 11 the line is crazy. The food is really good although a little pricey. It reminds me of panera and they do similar you-pick-2 options. Ive had their quinoa salad which im not crazy about and they recently started doing loaded toasts which are pretty good. all their sandwiches are amazing

A unique experience. Black and Brew Coffee House & Bistro serves sandwiches, coffee, brews and sodas. During my visit, the place was busy but I was served quickly. One of the workers even stopped by our table to see how we were doing and picked up our food trays. The inside atmosphere was fun and social.

Very Nice Cafe. Located right in the Downtown Lakeland Area. Views of Munn Park can be seen from the front seating area. Many options for Vegetarians . Salad portions are more than generous, the Mediterranean Salad is what is shown here. A nice stop if you are looking for a bite or a meal.

Black & Brew has a really great selection of coffee as well as wine and beer. Their lunch/dinner menu is really delicious and affordable. My favorite sandwich is the Thai Chicken Panini. Everything about the shop is really unique and very inviting. Highly Recommended.
