What a beautiful experience! I had went to another location(San Marcos) about a year ago when I first moved to Jacksonville(had seen it on D,D & D) It was fast paced and the service was pleasant. The food was not as tasty as I had hoped for, seemed very bland, maybe we went at a bad time, not sure. Was not planning on returning but a friend suggested that we stop in to eat today 4/20/14 at the Jax beach location. I was hesitant but called ahead anyway to be sure they were open since it was the Easter weekend. The person who answered the phone seemed a little flippant and said their hours are as usual on a Sunday(Im sure they didnt realized that we werent familiar with their hours of operation) I went on in anyway since my friends were excited to try the place. I was very surprised at this visit. The wait time was very short. The staff very enthusiastic and eager to help with our selections. It was crowded and busy but everyone seems really nice and happy that we were there. Our waitress(dont remember her name) was very Hospitable and welcoming, I didnt expect such Wonderful service at a busy time like it was, She was awesome! I remembered my first visit at the other location and thought how tasteless the food was but since the waitress was so good at making me feel comfortable I ordered without hesitation. The cook must have been cooking with Love because that was the best Chicken and waffles I have ever had and I have had them all over the USA, you could taste the love ! Seasoned well and the presentation was Superb! The waitress didnt forget to bring any of the condiments that went with them and she served us with a smile. I would call her a Super Waitress because she gave the ultimate service, not what I expected at a dinner. To my surprise even the manager came over to ask how was our meal! Can you imagine a busy place like that and the manager took time from his busy day to come and speak to us and ask about the service! Kudos to Metro Diner @ Jax Beach! They are doing it and doing it right! I will surely be back to that location to try other fair and definetly recomend it to all my friends, family and out of town visitors!

Wow! Ive been wanting to check out this spot for some time after having been to their San Marco location. Woke up early this morning and was in the mood for a great breakfast. This place totally let me down. The service was fantastic but the food left quite a bit to be desired. The "Country Benedict" was an untoasted english muffin topped with the cheapest overcooked generic sausage that you can buy, poached eggs and flavorless cold hollandaise that was probably made from a powdered base. I asked the server if the grits there were good or if they were the usual diner afterthought bland fare. She assured me that they were great! She even recommended that I make them cheese grits and I accepted. They were not great. They had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever and were then topped with very cheap semi melted cheese. A slice of american would have been better. I had one bite and set them aside. It was clear that no one had tasted them and no concern was given to their flavor. Sitting at the counter I was able to watch the staff prepare the rest of the food for the other diners and I can only assume that their food was equally bland and uninteresting. The cooks at no point seasoned anything and tended to treat all of the food in a haphazard uncaring manner. The long an short of it? I wish I could have my twenty dollars back so I could spend five of them at waffle house and get a decent breakfast.

We came here for lunch after reading a newspaper article claiming the on the top ten for burgers in the city. This restaurant is easy to see from 3rd street. It is in the corner of the shopping center. There is outside seating that is also a covered area. The outside is well kept. The inside has all floor space covered with tables. The tables and chairs have minimal wear and tear. The food is a little over priced. The food is made fresh. The plates we ordered was what we expected as far as taste. When we arrived the floor has full. Our server worked hard and succeeded at keeping all her area happy. There was an employee wearing a red bandanna that was yelling and being rude to people toward the back. It was easy to see her and hear her yell from the main floor where we were. Very limited vegetarian options. They do have free wifi. They do have a 10% military discount.

The Metro Diner was a good choice. The sweet tea was suspiciously good and the ads on the placemat helped me understand the needs I didnt know I had. I took the 12" pancake challenge but it needs to be upped to 20" as I walked away feeling full but not fulfilled (or accomplished as hoped.) The pound cake french toast is just as good as the server described it good but the croissant french toast is better. I didnt try the croissant french toast but Ill take her word for it. Next time Im ordering hashbrowns fsho. Be forewarned he parking spots on the side are very steep

Overall, it was ok. Place was slammed on this Saturday morning so I got my order to go. Egg white Veggie omelette with turkey sausage. It could have been so much better if the cook didnt stuff it to death with so many veggies. It watered down the omelette and made it take so bland. I also wanted turkey bacon but that was not a menu option. Really?? Instead the alternative was turkey sausage which I give 2 stars. My wife said it tasted like perfume. Service was great and timely but if your looking for a heathy tasty food options you may want to keep looking....

Came here for breakfast, first time. The service is friendly, did not have to wait long for my order. Eggs over easy were runny, good waffles, bacon and coffee. May I suggest to the owner to honor Mothers Day with a special treat for Moms such as a flower, free coffee or something special. I just moved here and miss my kids. It would have been nice. Of all the staff, three said Happy Mothers Day, Jay, Graham and Kali. Add free WiFi please. Not extremely impressed. Jay was a bit over eager, but sweet. He was the first to greet me and very sweet.

Had the chance to stop into the Jacksonville Beach Metro Diner in May 2014 and really enjoyed it. The waffles were great and the whole family had plenty to eat and were satisfied. I only had one small complaint. I understand youre by the beach in this location and having the doors open in the restaurant is an atmospheric plus. Unfortunately, the morning we visited the humidity inside the restaurant was terrible. Not a big deal really but worth mentioning. Overall though Id definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone.
