Horrible service!!! I have loved this restaurant for years. My fiancé and I always come atleast twice a month sometimes, often bringing our friends with us. The food is always really good and Ive never been sick even though Ive heard lots of people mention they have. Today my fiancé and I came in with our roomate and ate like we usually do. As we were eating our server brought a shrimp tray to put on the dinner buffet counter that had just started at that moment. A customer started to put the shrimp on her plate and the server started yelling at them "dinner, for dinner." The customer said yes, I paid for a dinner buffet. Again the server yells "dinner" points at the checkout counter and says "pay." The man at the counter said "she paid for dinner." And then the server rolls her eyes, scoffs and walks away. 10 minutes go by and we are talking and eating as usual, everything has gone back to normal. Our server brings out the check which my fiancé handled while I was conversing with our friend. Now I usually handle the tip with cash since he pays for the food, but before I realized that the check was out and being paid for (I was still talking with my friend) the server grabs the check with my fiancés card, points at the tip section that he filled in with $1, yells "tip?" And he said "yes" and I kid you not she yells "one dollar tip?!" At my fiancé and then scoffs and crosses out his 1$ tip. Now at this point Im furious, I didnt even get the chance to pull my wallet out and give her a cash tip. After that performance she isnt getting any tip from me and we will not be going there ever again. The audacity and rude attitude of this woman cannot go unnoticed and a company that allows her to treat customers this way is not one I will support. Ive read several reviews from people being forced to tip or tip shamed at this location. Its not right. I understand some people under tip but she didnt even wait to see if we were going to leave cash as a tip, which I always do!

Really crowded during Sunday lunch hour, but the food was delicious. All you can eat sushi with spicy mayo, ginger, wasabi, and tartar sauce. Their fried-breaded sushi is great. From the Hibachi grill, I had fried noodles and veggies with shrimp and an egg. The white bean-sprouts are yummy but the green bean-pods still taste a bit raw after frying. You can choose the sauce flavor: Teriyaki, Mongolian, Hibachi (sweet & savory), Soy. Be sure to bring a few extra bills to tip the chef. I tried the tilapia and fried fish as suggested by other reviewers, but found them too salty to finnish. Other personal favorites from the buffet: - Stuffed button mushrooms - spicy curly fries - sweet cream-cheese wontons - green tea ice-cream Our waitress was nice and professional. No complaints on the staff. Near the end of your meal you get fortune cookies. Crush them in the wrapping for a sweet and crunchy ice-cream topping. Would highly recommend to families/groups looking for a reasonably-priced lunch option.

Update: since visiting all the Asian buffets in Gainesville, Ive dubbed Ocean as the best one in Gainesville from the categories of freshness, cleanness, assortment wise, and atmospheric environment. The location is also ideal as it is surrounded with other local shops and business to visit before and or after consuming at Ocean. Just like any other chinese buffet you would go to. Myself and another went got there around 8:00 pm and they pretty much slowed down in refilling the food items to a crawl, especially the oysters. When I got there were only 2 shells left on the ice tray and it looked like someone took the oysters and left the shells. The waitresses began cleaning shop around 8:30 pm well at least you know theyre pretty clean. At about 45 mins into my meal the waitress automatically came over with my check..... overall it was an ok experience minus the screaming kid that needed a spanking.

Moldy Chopsticks!!! Yes they were covered in MOLD!! When I brought it to their attention discretely so I didnt alert other costumers. The waiters just took them and acted like nothing happened and gave me another pair (from the same bucket) then she took my plat and said "go get more food." I told her I lost my apatite and she insisted I still had to pay even though I didnt even eat 1 plate. She told me "we dont have nothing to do with chopsticks sew chopstick company." After arguing with the management I finally just paid for my meal and left. As a chef and graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College, I was horrified at their lack of care for this food safety violation. Upon leaving I went back to the bucket of chopsticks (that was still not removed) and found another handful of chopsticks covered in mold. Good thing in this generation smart phones and cameras are always at our finger tips.

Finally a good Chinese Buffet. Came in and all the food was steaming. Never saw that before! Dishes were good. Did not all taste alike. Good variety. Even had a roast beef. Sushi looked good, I dont eat it. The person who recommended this place said it was excellent. Again it looked good, but I dont eat it. There is also a selection of raw foods that you can have fast cooked on a grill table for you. I liked the tea. Dont understand some of the comments about service, all waitresses do is pick up dirty plates. There were a lot of people on a Sunday afternoon which helps with food turnover on the steam tables. Mens room needed attention. It smelled bad as well. This was the only negative for me. Price was reasonable. I am not a local. In the area for the winter. From Pennsylvania.

I have not seen such ill mannered and rude people running restaurant ever in this country! They should learn some minimum mannerism and culture where they are allowed to do business! This is no China! If you are open till 9:30 pm and inviting customer in for dinner, you cannot force them out at 9:45 pm, saying we are closed, just after you received the payment with tips! Even our two kids, one 5 and the other 3 year old, could not finish half of their food and they forced us to leave and denied to carry out the half eaten food of the 3 year old! I wonder what kind of people those are and what kind of a culture they come from!!!! We will never go there again and everyone be aware of those people!

They have NO prices listed you have to ask before you eat, rude customer service, extremely OVER-PRICED, they tried to charge us for 3 adult meals and a kids plate + milk Do not waste your time with these non English speaking idiots at the ocean buffet. Not to menchin their extremely rude young manager. FYI they also dont carry cottage cheese or anything for kids to eat If you havent eaten here before they assume that you are aware of their prices, we got this AFTER we had already eaten. Complete waste of hard earned money and time We wont be returning either, lost my whole familys buisness. Plus my running mouth is going to spreading that this is a bad business at ocean buffet.
