Visited on 08/20/11 If "waterfront dining" lured you here you wont find sand or palm trees. The view is more about boat storage and industrial facilities and water has a sheen of diesel fuel and motor oil. We ordered the broiled dolphin and the peel & eat steamed shrimp. The dolphin arrived looking rather spartan...the filet of fish, steamed veggies, slice of lemon and packet of tarter sauce. The plate wasnt dressed at all with any garni...but I wont deduct points for that. However, the slice of lemon was wafer thin and basically unusable and the tarter sauce was an individual boxed serving of Kraft Tarter Sauce. The (warm from the plate) commercially packaged tarter sauce looked way out of place on my plate and was immediately discarded. The veggies were a bit over steamed and came in all sizes from tiny little slices of carrots to giant flowers of broccoli. The dolphin was also a bit overcooked, a small, value sized filet lightly seasoned and tasted pretty fresh. Peel & eat shrimp should be firm with a crunchy shell that removes easily in large pieces. These shrimp seemed more boiled than steamed. They were quite mushy with soft shells that came off in tiny fragments. The Old Bay seasoning was prominent but at the end the plate was a lake of water from the drowned shrimp. The service was ok....the waitress seemed overwhelmed and distracted by a large party at another table of hers. I suppose Southport Raw Bar is fine for a beer and a few sliders as well as that all too familiar Floridian, unshaven, I might be an alcoholic in a Hawaiian shirt, hitting on women too young for themselves, rude to the staff because hey!, Im a regular here...ambiance. If your looking for "waterfront dining", you best be moving on...

I HAD THE WORSE SERVER EVER. I DONT KNOW IF HE NEVER WAITED ON BLACK BEFORE BUT HE WAS MORE HAPPY TO SERVE THE TABLE FULL OF WHITES. I WENT THERE TODAY THINKING THE OYSTERS WOULD BE THE BEST. I ASKED FOR STEAMED OYSTERS AND WHEN THEY CAME BACK OUT SOME WERE COLD RAW OR WARM ON THE OUTSIDE AND COLD IN THE INSIDE. HE NEVER GAVE US WIPES OR EVEN CAME TO CHECK ON MY TABLE. HE WAS ALSO A SMART ASS WHEN I ASKED HIM WHAT TYPE OF CHEESE WAS ON THE BURGER. THE FAT WHITE MANAGER THAT WAS SEATING PEOPLE OUTSIDE DIDNT EVEN COME AND CHECK ON ANY TABLES NOR DID HE SEEM TO CARE ABOUT MY COMPLAINT. THE WHITE BLONDE AT THE COUNTER THAT DEALS WITH THE CHECKS WAS VERY RUDE WHEN I NEEDED ASSISTANT. SHE NEEDS BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE ALONG WITH THE WHITE WAITER. I WAS SO UPSET WHEN MY FOOD CAME I GOT A BOX TO GO AND HE DIDNT EVEN GIVE US A BAG. THESE PEOPLE THAT WORKED TODAY CAME OFF VERY RUDE AND RACIST. THESE ARE THE WORSE OYSTERS I HAVE EVER HAD AND THEY WERE NOT CLEANED THE CORRECT WAY. I RATHER SPEND MY MONEY AT OCEAN 101.

I went there a few weeks ago and ended up leaving before even being sat down. We went to the bar to get my clients/friends a few drinks. Young male bartender with hat was completely unprofessional. He was on his phone checking text messages, talking on the phone... He then said, "he would be right with us." Probably sat at the bar for 10-15 minutes after as he continued to serve other customers as they came up. So we mentioned to him we were still waiting for service. Then he continued to make comments or excuses back at us like "well if your going to get mad about it...", "you moved" and others I cant post. So we immediately left. Called the manager and complained. She seemed extremely professional and nice. Ensured us a fantastic experience if we were to come back. If I ever go back it will be because of her. As of now my clients and I have no intentions of visiting. --J

Dont let its no frills look fool you, the food is good and the service is exceptional! We boated up to this classic marina restaurant with a group of 8. Service was prompt, genuine, not overbearing but attentive. Staff were particularly sweet to dogs who visit (including two of our own), which made a lasting impression on the entire group. The food was quick, fresh, and was fairly priced. We had old bay peel and eat shrimp, raw oysters, mahi mahi with rice, and fried shrimp. All dishes were prepared nicely, had good portions, came quickly and were appropriately hot or cold. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I wanted to have oysters - Called this place, herb answered the phone, was very up very up beat and nice but when we got there it was a diffrent story.. We ordered oysters and my waitress name was Dominic.. I mentioned they where black and extreamly small her answer was "what do you expect for 14.99" ---- really not the answer I was expected. We just came from orlando went to New Orleans kitchen- Ate there for four days in a row, same price hello, fried oysters where nothing but breading...do not waist your money in this place.

Maybe we hit this place on a bad night. We waited about an hour to be seated and they were out of the specials we tried to order. We put in an order for regular menu items but the waitress came back to tell us they were out of some of those items also. The food we did have was nothing amazing and I felt for the price the fish tacos could have come with a side. The waitress was really busy so we didnt get drink refills. Maybe it was just way to busy but I got the feeling that was normal around there so it was a disappointing experience.

Oysters were really good size and a fair price. Unfortunately the service was terrible and extremely slow. We we were told to move 3 different times outside, because they forgot certain tables were reserved. Ordered the conch fritters which came out completely burnt and when I replaced it with an order of oysters it took forever. My friend then ordered a dessert, which our server told us got stolen so we had to wait another 30min. From start to finish we were there for 2 hours and 15 min. At least we had a nice view of the water.

Amazingly we found a parking spot in the tiny parking lot out front. Even mid afternoon the restaurant is fairly busy. We choose to eat inside instead of wait. I had the dolphin (mahi mahi) broiled sandwich which was awesome, my wife had the raw plate. She loved the Oysters and shrimp but didnt care for the clams. We had some key lime pie to finish it up and it was good, but not quite tangy enough for us.. 6/10 on the pie. Great place with live music. Check it out if you havent. Prices were reasonable too.

I went your restaurant on Jan. 11 2012. I have been a captian for over forty years. Ive been comming to your place since 1978. Although not for the last few years. What wonderful suprise to find it like left it. I was most impressed jeff at the raw bar. He made sure while the bar was packed with great service, one fabulous attitude and spent enough time with each patron talking like you were the only costomer he had. He did it in way no one would ever know you were slammed. Capt Michael Brucker
