Went to visit Breakneck Tavern today with my friend Donna. She has been there multiple times, I was a newbie, and will be returning. Breakneck Tavern prides itself on offering sustainably crafted beer, food and cocktails. I am a cocktail fan, and chose the Allegheny Mule, which features Boyd & Blair vodka as well as Natrona Bottling Companys ginger beer. This was a pretty darned tasty cocktail; however, it could have been stronger, IMHO. We chose the roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer, as well as two flatbreads (one a menu feature and one the flatbread of the day). The sprouts were well cooked, crispy and not bland. The flatbreads were crisp and tasty; the wild mushroom flatbread featured local goat cheese, as well as in-season wild mushrooms and charred onions. The Flatbread OTD was my favorite -- Brussels sprouts, local cheddar, glazed pork belly, and caramelized onions. For dessert, I chose the chocolate mint pots de creme and was not unhappy with it; however, I found that the homemade tuiles were thick, albeit still extremely tasty. All items are made in house; there is nothing pre-packaged from any of the numerous food service distributors. I will return, many many times, I think. Thank you for a great dining experience!

Awful quality for the price and service To be honest, the quality is not horrible, its just way too expensive considering the lack of quality and location! If your going to charge $22- $50 a plate in a BAR/TAVERN, you better be close to perfect every night...$15 for a sandwich? The owner must have forgotten his location which is across the street from a TRUCK STOP and not on MT Washington. Our Pastrami Burger was SALTY...Now I love salt but this was beyond consumption...Like take a bite, Im going to get sick, spit it out salty..Absolutely no reason to serve old a burgher like that, for $15, we could have gone to the best place in in the area! You cant keep ground meat that was sitting in spices and salt too long and if your trying to pass this off to your customers, what else are you passing along? Throw it away and prep another batch. Also, the Sesame & Chia Seed Seared Tuna was average...On the dry side and freezer burned tasting. Not worth eating at $27!...The service was also fair..We had to ask repeatedly for more table water and our waiter was seldom visible. Quite frankly, I left with the feeling the reviews Ive read of this place are tainted. BEWARE. I told you so!

My family and I had drinks and lunch here last Sunday, practically on a whim and it was nothing less than spectacular! The atmosphere is fresh, clean and comfortable. It is every bit a "vintage industrial restaurant with hints of railroad decor" as described. A must see inside - love it! All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our server Christine was awesome. Shes totally knowledgable and very attentive and took time to answer all our questions. The food was incredibly memorable. Every, and I mean EVERY ingredient was FRESH and prepared perfectly. I had a house salad with a lemon truffle vinaigrette and a grilled salmon BLT. We also tried the baby spinach salad, a fried crawfish po boy and a sweet n smokey pig flatbread…seriously, you cant go wrong here. Everything was delicious! Without a doubt, we will be coming back asap -- Keep up the great work, yall!

I cannot speak for the food and drink as of yet because both times Ive been there, they werent open. But I saw some old faces and the owner introduced himself and spoke like he was right on my level, despite the fact that I was there well before opening just to see what they did with the place and wasnt dressed for such an occasion. (T-shirt and sweats after doing newspapers all day). He won major points for preserving the corner booth from Uncle Bobs that was always the staple for my friends and I every time we went there. Jason has some great ideas that I think are going to make that place shine. Rocky starts are to be expected when in the process of opening. I would make sure you give any and all feedback to Owners of Management before writing a scathing review. People make mistakes, give them a chance to fix them. Review of Food, Service, and Drinks coming soon!

"Tavern" may be a slight misnomer; this spot easily competes with the best restaurants in Pittsburgh... Meal began with Pinot and ended with Port, and in between an assortment of straightforward, damn good food that doesnt try too hard. The flatbreads and soups are incredible. Lamb is perfection! The right amount of sauce, on awesome potato pancakes and brussels. She had the trout and loved it. Finishing off with Beignets, brownie parfait and gelato (they have so many good flavors!). Server Ileana guided us through the meal very professionally. Almost forgot to mention, the tons of awesome booze on tap; good bar scene too. This is a place I can eat at many times a week; there is so much to try and like. Great setting that has excellent food without the fufu pretentiousness of some other joints. Well done, Jason (owner) and Chef Martin!

First and only time at this restaurant was on a Sunday evening 8/23. The server was HORRIBLE. She didnt smile EVER, was stressed out and basically complained to us, her customers, about how much of a hassle separate checks are. One of my friends wanted to put my SECOND appetizer on his check and she refused - because it was too complicated to do! So she not only charged me for that appetizer but also charged me $4.00 for a side salad that I didnt order - or receive. The restaurant wasnt even busy. She had one other table besides us during the entire 2 hours we were there. Most servers would be happy with a party of 9. We spent quite a bit on food and drinks. I regret tipping her as much as I did. If I ever go back there I will make sure I dont sit in her section. I would also like to be compensated for being overcharged.

Horrible we went for the fathers day buffet. We were told we would be in the bar section but tables were the same. They shoved 6 people into 2 small tables put together. Worst yet the carving station for meat if you want to call it that is just meat thrown in serving trays and some was cold. Meanwhile they had some breakfast items some seafood and no side dishes except some carrots and broccoli. Our service was horrible waiter barely came by and we basically had to phase them to get service. Deserts might as well have been given out in the box from a grocery store cause it was obvious none were made on site. Coffee tasted old and when we asked for coffee the server was aggravated. Bottom line avoid this place horrible service and way over priced.

I have visited twice. Both times the beer is not cold enough and the food just did not taste good. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was not cooked properly the noodles were hard, and there was very little seafood on it. Additionally it had very little taste. For $14...the portion was way too small. On my first visit I ordered off the first happy hour menu. I ordered the mussels. They were so small it felt like I was eating peas. There were a whopping 7 peices in the assortment. Lots of work to do if these guys are going to make it.
