Bombay Cafe is the ONLY Indian restaurant within the Oakland Park/Wilton Manors area that doesnt require a cross 95 passport to find (that I know of). Weve been here several times over the years, but only for dinner. We saw that they had a lunch buffet and as I was having a craving for all things curry it seemed like a perfect fit. Inside Bombay Cafe is pretty typical for an Indian restaurant, the statue of Ganesha keeps watch over the door and color scheme is cozy and warm. On the day that we visited a majority of the guests were opting for the buffet, in fact it wasnt until we were leaving that I discovered that the full menu is available as well. When we entered we were promptly greeted at the door and escorted to a table. Obviously the lunch buffet is very popular as the usually white table cloth was covered with bistro paper, not a surprising addition considering the volume of business. We were immediately brought a pitcher of water - and that pretty much was the amount of service. no drink order, not greeting, nothing. We followed the cattle to the buffet line and proceed to stuff our faces with traditional Indian fare. Once we both made it through the line, a basket of warm naan was brought to the table accompanied by a platter of tandoori chicken - a nice touch. As far as buffets go, its pretty large. There is a fairly wide variety of options, from curried vegetables and vegetable fritters, to Chicken Tikka Masala and a Goat Curry. For sweeter options there are the typical sweet spiced carrots (which I need to find a recipe for) and coconut rice. Sadly one of my favorites, Saag Paneer was missing. All the items we tasted - which was just about everything - were delicious and curbed my Indian cravings. If you dont care for highly sauced dishes then obviously this wont be your cup of tea, but if you like to sop up every morsel with a hunk of naan, then you will be in heaven. The daily (m-f) lunch buffet is priced at $10.95 which is more than fair for the amount of food offered. There is a dinner buffet on Wednesdays and Sundays for $16.95 that I may have to mosey over and check out. All in all its a keeper. While there was the curious lack of a service at the table, it didnt detract from our experience. Like many a buffet, you follow the masses and look like you know what you are doing.

Truly awful place. Their food is not cheap for a takeout place, yet their service is very poor. There was a 25yo running the place who was very unfriendly and unhelpful. I tried a dish which I did not like and he told me to comeback and try something else next time, but gave me nothing towards getting something else. He took the food I was going to throw in the garbage and took it back to reserve it to another customer. Im truly suprised they pass a food inspection. He then served me Masala Tea which was sitting in a flask of his, not freshly made at all. It was probably sitting around in his flask all day. No wonder they serve lunch for $6.95 they are reserving other peoples meals. The place is filthy and I would avoid it like the plague!

After years of consumed and compared to the choices in NYC, DC, ATL, MIA, Bombay Cafe at Oakland Park is not the best decorated, not the best quality, not the best priced, not the best location, not the best of anything. But, Bombay Cafe serves authentic Indian flavors on the buffet line. It has the best mean average of tastes and priced combination in the middle of no where in Ft Lauderdale Florida. If you like curry goat and fresh baked nan bread, well, this place is for you. Ive tasted the same flavor (curry goat ) in Bombay, India, Jackson Heights Indian Town, and here Oakland Park. Other Indian restaurants have the same dish but not as the way Ive ate in Bombay. Go for it, get a little extra spice in your life.

I eat here religiously once a week for nearly a year now. Have never gotten sick or had any problems at all. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is the best around. Many Indians eat here, including my boss. He said it is the most authentic Indian restaurant in town. Met another Indian here and he said the same thing. I have tried other Indian restaurants and they dont even compare. It may look like a hole in the wall, but it tastes the best and is clean inside. I find it HIGHLY doubtful that they re-served somebodys food as mentioned in a previous review. Sounds to me like a disgruntled patron. Try it and you wont regret it. It really is good!

Waiting staff is not professional, Mild chicken curry tastes overly spicy, and no other flavor. Rice is plain without color or flavor. Bread tastes bitter, as if I can taste the cleaning products on it. Its also burned. Its a bit on the expensive side. It would befit being 25% cheaper. On a positive note: The music is nice on the background, The place is decorated nicely and cosy. I would not say its a bad place, but there definitely are better restaurants to find, with more authentic flavors.

The food was great and I would have given it 5 stars for the food alone. However as I was eating I saw a roach dieing by the buffet table, and if that wasnt bad enough when I got home I had serious abdominal pain and diarrhea for 24 hours. I didnt eat anything else yesterday other than at this resturant. I use to love going to this resturant but after my last experience I will defiantly not be going. Too bad I hope they clean up their act.

After our day long travel, we finalized this restaurant for our dinner. To our surprise it was 9:30 PM and only 1 car was in the parking. We still chose to get-in and ordered the meal. It was last order for the day so it was very quick, though manager was bit more interested in watching TV when we asked for extra napkins. Food was delicious and seating arrangement was also good. Ambiance is kind of dark, seating table mostly have 4 seats.

WHEN I SAW THE BUFFET, THATS WHEN I SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT. THINKING THAT MAYBE ORDERING FROM THE MENU MIGHT BE FRESHER, I WAS TOTALLY WRONG. STALE PAPPADAM TO START, THE VARIOUS CHUTNEYS WERE WATERY AND FLAVORLESS. THE RAITA WAS NOT EDIBLE. THE TANDOORI CHICKEN WAS DRY, AS WAS THE NAAN AND THE RICE. I EXPERIENCED THE UNCOMFORTABLE VIBES FROM THE WAIT STAFF AS WELL. HOPEFULLY THE HEALTH DEPT. WILL COME IN SOON, TOO.

My wife and I went to this location and its surrounded by closed restaurants and stores. The area is dead, we saw 1 customer inside and we looked at the menu. The restaurant was not clean, the floors are dirty and appearances makes a big difference so we left. I love indian food and i am sad to see this restaurant in this shape. I hope the owner moves to a better location and cleans up the restaurant.
