So, Fados, you havent really let me down. I just compare you unfairly to the Gallagher Boxty house in Dublin. My bad. So, the food is about average when it comes to Irish fare, but that doesnt stop me from coming to Fados during a lunch every now and then. The price very well could be a little lower than they have, but again, not a super gouge issue here. They actually redone their menu recently and the new Steak and Black Pudding boxty is way better than the old steak boxty. I enjoyed it much much more this time around. The Shepards pie is average at best, though. They do have good hummus for a starter that comes with potato cake-style chips to dip in. We enjoyed that at one lunch and we forgot about it at the second, but well get it next time. The staff appears to be almost exclusively people from Ireland. They have accents, look like traditional Irish folk (girls really arent red-heads there FYI), and are extremely kind, just like I experienced while on the emerald island. The atmosphere is loaded with junk on the wall and reminds me of plenty traditional small-town pubs I visited. Do yourself a favor and stop by at least once to eat here. If you can make it on a busy night as well, go enjoy some music and mingle with the huge crowd that usually develops. Never a dull time here.

If it was possible to give zero stars then this place definitely deserves a zero rating...I visited this location on Christmas eve with a friend, we live just up the street and wanted to have a drink near by somewhere within walking distances so that neither one had to drink and drive...we walked in and there were 2 females behind the bar conversation amongst themselves, neither of them greeted us so I greeted them only to get no response...so we started of with terrible customer service and it only got worst...we asked for the happy hour menu and one girl proceeded to say "you cant order off that menu yet, its not 12am yet"...it was 11:52pm, so Im sure by time we had a chance to review things and think it over we would have been good on time...we asked for some ice water that we didnt not receive until the ladies finished their conversation, about 10 mins later...my friend decided to order some wings and when she was asked what flavors she wanted on her wings, she was told to read the menu...we canceled our order and left...i will NEVER EVER visit this location again nor will I be referring any friends/associates to this PTs...I really do love PTs and the environment of it but not this location!!!!!

Beer and food were great, if a bit expensive. The main story of this review was the service. Our waiter got our orders just fine, but then forgot to bring two of our dishes. He also didnt do very well with water refills. He never even came back to ask if we wanted any more drinks. After we were done eating we had to wait a while for our checks. Finally, we stopped him and asked if we could have the check, separately (10 college students). He scoffed and lamented that we hadnt told him earlier. He hadnt asked. When he brought the bill back he told us to separate it, including drinks. We asked for a manager, and this is where things got good. After explaining she, Eimear, was sorry for our poor service, she told us she would see what she could do. She came back with a new bill that was $100 dollars off, and brought a round of shots for us. It was pretty awesome. Would definitely go there again.

I love Irish breakfasts, having lived in England and Ireland for a number of years, and Fad Irish pub has one of the best I have had - perhaps the best in the States. Both black and white sausage patties, plus real ham, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato and soda bread. The eggs were overlooked but you sometimes see that in Ireland. The English also serve pork n beans but not the Irish. The great thing is that Faldo serves Irish breakfast all day including at night. It was too early in the day for me to have a Guinness or two or three but the very helpful and friendly waiter said it was good. Ill be sure to go to Faldo during my next D.C. Trip and perhaps try the fish and chips or shepherds pie

One of our favorite places to go before an event downtown or just on a day out. On March 26th I took a friend who was visiting from out of town. We had Leon as our bartender and sat and had some terrific conversation with two other employees, after shift, Kelsey and Randy. It seemed that there was a large party who never showed and this left the staff with no work during that schedule. Seeing as it was a slow Sunday night they still were extremely friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the laughs and the hospitality that all three employees showed us. Leon even assisted me with finding some new whiskey for an upcoming event. Still on my favorite list and cant wait to go back!

Although Fado seems to be a very popular "Irish" bar in Chinatown, Ive never understood the appeal. The restaurant is a magnet for tourists and the "bridge and tunnel" crowd - as well as anyone else willing to pay $7 for a Yuengling. The food is decent but also pricey, and the general atmosphere seems dark, contrived, and totally chaotic - especially if theres a game or event at the Verizon Center. If youre looking for a good pub in DC - skip Fado and try Nanny OBriens, the Queen Vic, the Dubliner, Duffys or even Kellys Irish Times, instead.

I have no idea why this place is so popular. Their Monday night trivia is a pain to sit through, way too many people and the announcer is extremely annoying. Prices arent bad and they have a decent beer selection. On nights other than Monday, usually a relatively idiotic crowd. Two stars because the pub food is good, the location is great and theres nothing terribly offensive about it that I can put my finger on, but I roll my eyes every time someone suggests this place (and yet I end up here about once a month). Maybe Im the idiot...

An acceptable Irish Pub, similar to others found throughout the United States. The food was a mixed bag. I had a lunch of Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato soup that was pretty good. I joined friends after work for appetizers, and they were all pretty heavy, rather greasy and uninspired. Beer selection on tap is fairly limited, but they had a good IPA on tap. I would have no reservations of coming back here, but I would not go out of my way to do so. Certainly an Irishy pub can be a great place to meet people and shoot the breeze...

Ive been here many times since moving to DC, and even though its usually crowded to the brim, its always a good time. Prices are average and the service is nothing special. Before I realized this was a chain establishment I was impressed by the decor -- so basically this is the Irish version of Olive Garden. I came for live music once and that was fun, but my absolute fave is the Monday night Pub Trivia -- its hilarious and Ive never come close to winning, but Ill keep coming back for more.
