This used to be another cafe which wasnt that great (especially since I knew someone who worked there who had nothing good to day). My wife and I stopped by thinking we would have a decent experience. From the moment we walked in, we were pretty much ignored. The food was not that great and they didnt treat us like they wanted us there.

Wonderful Experience!! I went for the first time with my son and two seminarian friends from Nigeria. Askale treated is very well, and served us a platter of delicious food that we ate African style, using the bread to scoop food from the platter. A very enjoyable evening. We will be sure to visit again next year!!

An exceptional treasure. Many people get their Ethiopian food fix in Adams Morgan, but Askale is worth the trip. The owner is absolutely delightful. The doro wat is subtly seasoned, not overpowering like is sometimes the case. The portions are generous and the atmosphere very welcoming. Highly recommended!

The azifa sandwich I ordered was AMAZING. My girlfriend had the kik-alicha and that was absolutely incredible. If you want to try something new and delicious, make sure you stop in. Wonderful staff, atmosphere and food. I really cant say enough good things about it.

Must try the Fava Beans breakfast with a chai tea latte and you will be in Ethiopian Heaven!!! So delicious my all time favorite meal here. My husbad loves lamb tibs and lentils are the bomb.

A true gem in Brookland! Outstanding Ethiopian coffee and great food! Also like the outdoor patio where Ive been known to have a few beers (lol)! The free wifi doesnt hurt ;)
