just had dinner here tonight with my husband.... HORRIBLE- WHERE SHOULD I START FIRST THEY BROUGHT US IN THE ROOM WITH NO LIGHT, I COULD HARDLY READ THE MENU. THEN AFTER WE SAT IN BOOTH, I KEPT SLIDING LIKE SOMEONE WAS KICK OFF THE SEAT. YEP THING JUST GOT WORSE-I TRIED TO GET THEIR ATTENTION SO THEY COULD MOVE US TO ANOTHER BOOTH. TALK ABOUT BEING IGNORED.. FINALLY GOT MOVED TO ANOTHER BOOTH, AND I GUESS OUR PUNISHMENT WAS TO BE TOTALLY FORGOTTEN ABOUT .. I ORDERED A PINEAPPLE DRINK WITH MY MEAL, AND MY MEAL FINALLY ARRIVED. MY HUSBAND HAD TO REMIND THE WAITER TO BRING THE DRINK..OK SO THEN IT GETS WORSE THE DRINK TASTED HORRIBLE.. THE FOOD JUST SOME BACKGROUND IVE EATEN IN RESTAURANTS ALL OVER THE WORLD, AND MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF CUISINE-THIS BY FAR WAS THE WORST FOOD i HAVE EVER HAD. IT WAS INEDIBLE..WHEN WE FINALLY GOT MY DRINK IT WAS UNDRINKABLE .. AT THAT POINT WE JUST WANTED TO LEAVE. WE TOLD THE WAITER NOT TO WRAP UP OUR LEFTOVERS. WE TOLD THE WAITER ABOUT THE DRINK AND THAT WE DID NOT LIKE IT AND TO HAVE IT REMOVED FROM THE BILL= HE REFUSED TO REMOVE THE DRINK THAT WAS LEFT ON THE TABLE THAT WE DID NOT DRINK. HIS RESPONSE WAS WE TOOK A SIP ALREADY??? HOW WAS i SUPPOSE TO KNOW IF i LIKED IT OR NOT?? I TOLD THE OWNER AND SHE WAS EVEN RUDE IF NOT MORE THEN THE WAITER IS POSSIBLE.. REALLY SAD EXPERIENCE.PLEASE BE WARE OF THIS PLACE.... YOU DECIDE.. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.. YOU GET NO STARS, BUT I HAD TO SELECT ONE TO POST..

Coming from larger metro areas like New York, Berlin, London and Miami the bar is set kind of high for me when it comes to Chinese food. I really appreciate dining at a Chinese restaurant that aspires and succeeds at providing interesting and delicious twists on classic Chinese menu items. The Crownery does this well. Dont let the immense menu intimidate you. Large menus sometimes overwhelm patrons and leave them wondering what the restaurant does well. this is not the case at the Crownery. Everything my party and I ordered at the Crownery was prepared fresh and thoughtfully. Our party ordered seven different entree items and four apps and everything was delicious. Textures, flavors, colors all blended well. I got the sense that they have a very experienced and talented chef. Id highly recommend the standard Chinese menu items as well as the seafood entrees. Lastly, the staff was wonderful. Even though the restaurant was crowded we had two or three people tending to our needs. The owner visited us twice. In fact, the owner seemed to visit everyone. Lots of patrons seemed to know her as well. I got the sense this was a special place that has many regulars. enjoy~ A

Having been to many chinese restaurants, I have to say this was one of the worst experiences yet. We were seated at a table that was sticky, and handed sticky menus, after our drink order taken we watched as the soda was poured from a can into a glass that was filled with ice from an igloo cooler sitting near the kitchen door. Unless you know chinese food descriptions you are out of luck, the menu has very little descriptions, our order was Generals Chicken and Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. Generals Chicken was cooked proper and had a bland flavor, the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce was a horrible disgusting mess that had no flavor to it at all, come to find out that lobster sauce contains NO lobster, again, a proper description would have helped. As we took this in stride and tried to make the best of the dinner, we asked for refills only to be denied, we did however had the option of paying $1.75 for another soda from a can. As you can tell, I will never return to this restaurant for a meal.

Ive been enjoying the Crownery Chinese Restaurant since 1993 when I moved to delaware and whether you eat in or take out you will enjoy their offerings of traditional American-Chinese cuisine. You can always pop in for a quick lunch special where you can get a full complete meal, virtually all of them under $10 and you wont leave hungry, or you can venture deeper into their menu and enjoy things like fresh seafood, beef, chicken, pork and veggie based meals and always leave full and never feel like your wallet has been raped. The friendly staff has always been wonderful to me and even carried my order out to my car when I was injured and unable to walk. Couldnt ask for nicer staff.

Ive been to many good Chinese restaurants in New York and visiting family in Delaware for Thanksgiving holiday. Family suggested to go to Crownery Chinese restaurant Saturday night, I was hesitant since New York has some of the best Chinese food. To my surprise, this restaurant was phenomenal! We had Peking Duck, Shrimp/Scallop/Squid salt & pepper style (most of my Chinese friends order this in NY, sometimes squid only), Lobster with Ginger & Scallion, Orange Beef and General Chicken. They were all very tasty! I cant wait to come back for another family gathering and try other dishes.

Such a disappointment! The fried rice was bland, the order was wrong, and the sweet and sour chicken was soggy. When we called about the order being wrong the lady insisted I ordered wonton soup (which I hate) instead of crab wantons (which I love). I also ordered boneless spareribs only to find out that they do not offer boneless ribs, only bone-in. This would have been nice to know before getting home so I could change the order. We will not be ordering there again and would welcome a good Chinese recommendation near Hockessin because this place sure isnt it.

My biggest issue with the Crownery has always been deciding what to order since everything they serve has been delicious! Problem solved with their Chinese new year celebratory all you can eat buffet! Reservations recommended and wear your stretchy pants! Check their website for details.

We havent had dinner from the Crownery in a long time and figured we would try something different . BAD CHOICE. The food was horrible. We ordered sesame chicken and beef with broccoli, the worst ever. Will not be going back!!!

The salted seafood (shrimp, squid, etc) was excellent. Chicken w scallions and ginger, spring rolls, egg rolls, and seafood combo with black bean sauce were all very very good. The veggie mei fun was ok but not too exciting.

Food is great, inside dining area needs a facelift feels like your going back into 1977. Prices are okay could be a little cheaper, use coupon for 10 or 15% off it helps.

Really good Chinese food - they do have a real Chinese menu as well and can help you with selecting courses. Interior is pretty dated but service is up to par.

Food: It used to be better but never truly bad. Average Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu. Atmosphere: Warm Service: Prompt and friendly

Great food... horrible service for takeout. Chances of the owner making eye contact with you during your take out order is about 1 in 10.

The food is OK, but it seems like its toned down. The buffets they do for the holidays are a treat though.
