Considering were in a stripmall in Fairfield county in CT and not in NYC the fact that they have xiao long bau aka gods gift to my mouth: Soup dumplings is amazing!! They have pork, and crab. Both are good but the pork are my favorite. As far as mains.. the big noodle soup is phenomenal.. I highly recommend the Thai curry big noodle bowl with pork and egg noodles. Its totally unlike any soups Ive encountered at Chinese restaurant.. its got a thai curry taste to it just more of a soup than a sauce.. they also sear the meat and make it crispy on the outside and nice and moist on the inside. All in all I am hard pressed to find a place for such a consistently good product, and will be coming here for as long as they are open or as long as Im working in Norwalk.

We happened upon this spot when we were craving Chinese and didnt want to go to our usual greasy place. Ren has now become our go-to for Chinese and weve told multiple people about it. The service is quick, you get hot tea right away, the dishes arent greasy (and have lots of fresh veggies!), and the best part is the soup dumplings! Those are hard to do well and they do them very well. Id also recommend the cold sesame noodles, the wonton soup, beef with broccoli, and cashew chicken. We love all of those things so much that we often just get them, but we force ourselves to try something new each time as well because everything there is just so delicious :) They will give you a little sweet treat with your bill as well.

I went into Ren while passing through and hungry. I ordered the peppercorn shrimp. It was supposed to be spicy and hot. It was neither. There were different size shrimp including two jumbos. The jumbos looked spectactular but on closer inspection they were not cleaned and had ugly veins (intestinal tracts) full and in place. Took away my appetite. The vegetable fried rice seemed hardly fried but wasnt too bad. This restaurant could be really nice if they paid attention to detail like cleaning the shrimp and properly spicing the food. You could not taste any szechuan peppercorn at all. Disappointing food.

I had a delicious lunch at Ren yesterday. An interesting, slightly spicy pickle (free) appetizer was placed on my table before I ordered anything, like in an old time New York deli. I had a good sized bowl of hot and sour soup (Chinese), and Drunken Noodles with vegetable (wide Thai rice noodles). Both were part of the lunch special and very tasty. The service was efficient, food arrived promptly, nice atmosphere and good chopsticks. All in all an excellent lunch. Ill be back.

Good food, good (enough) service, and soup dumplings with actual soup in the dumpling! Most places outside NYC dont do good soup dumplings. Pro tip: put the soup dumpling in your spoon, bite a tiny hole in the side, sip out soup carefully, then eat dumpling!
