Meh. I honestly dont know why the buzz surrounds Meadow. They are an incredibly average pan-Asian restaurant. I will say their meals are a good value for lunch. The atmosphere and decor is nice, but the staff and service is abrupt and bordering on rude, though they do refill your glass of water constantly... if thats your thing. Ive been three times (had to give a fair shake) and shared dishes with the others I was with. Each time, I was not impressed. At all. I love love love Thai food. Meadow is a TOTAL let-down in this department. Their Thai dishes lean heavily toward Chinese - theyre syrupy when they should be brothy, sweet when they should be spicy. Rather than the light, spicy, steamed Thai dishes that Im used to, the ones Meadow offers, such as their hot basil or red curry, are heavy or even greasy! Ugh. Skip these if you know good Thai food. Their Chinese is better than fast-food style take out, but nothing to write home about. I mean, in my experience, its hard to mess up lo mein, right? And General Tsos (or Gaus as they call it here) is a staple of any Chinese restaurant. Their version was decent, but Ive had better. The Japanese fare thats not sushi is fairly middle-of-the-road. Feng down the road in Canton (Avon maybe?) does just as well in this department, though costs more. Rehydrated miso soup is not notable. The sushi is good. All the same, its not unique or rare. Id say Meadow is worth a shot if youre looking for nothing-special, totally average, affordable food.

Excellent Food, Poor Service - May 7, 2009 Weve been to Meadow nine or ten times in the past year, in parties of two to six. The food is consistently great, but the service is always unpredictable and usually awful, whether it is a busy Saturday night or a normal easy weeknight. Wait staff is very difficult to understand but that would be fine if the sometimes interminable wait for appetizers and main courses were the exception rather than the rule. Prepared foods from the kitchen that should be served with items from the sushi bar as main courses often come out at wildly different times. It all makes for a less than satisfying experience. Ginza in Bloomfield is by far the better choice. And then theres this: Meadow has a great dessert selection but does not serve coffee, which seem incongruous. My opinion only. Dave in Avon

Im in love with this place! First: the food is fantastic with many vegetarian options for those who eat plant-based. The atmosphere is outstanding: contemporary, but inviting. The servers and management are all professional, attentive (without being excessively so), and able to answer questions about the ingredients in the various dishes. And now for the piece de resistance: The desserts. They are tasty and plated like artwork. Update: The very reasonably priced luncheon menu appears to only have one vegetarian option, but our waitress told us that all but two items on the lunch menu can be made vegetarian by substituting tofu for the meat or fish.

Food service and the setting was great. Right from the beginning, the appetizer great. the appetizer was a special for the day. Had the dragon roll,, good size portions including the fish. Restaurants can be skimpy on the amount of sushi they serve on a roll this was like i was back in asia. Portions large!!! My wife orderd the ginger scallion lobster, very good and rich tasting. I had the Chilean Sea bass great!! We were full after that no desert needed. Can not wait to go again, with some friends.

although tucked away next to the bike shop in simsbury, meadow should be far from kept a secret. this little asian bistro is both affordable and delectable. The service is great and the food is not only original, but also a fantastic assortment spanning across chinese, thai, and japanese cuisines. This is one of those places that will always be on your short list of restaurants once you go.

Sam, Outstanding Customer Service! Even though I lived in another state you still did everything in your power to get ahold of me and made my experience right. You have great food and will definitely eat there again when you travel to CT in the future. Thank you again. 5 star place all the way.

The Meadow is one our most favorite restaurants in the Hartford area. It always serves the finest food with great service. The interior has an elegant ambiance and the prices are very reasonable. If you like Asian food this is a must to try.

I have decided that this night out was the best Asian cruises I have had in a long time. Awesome crab rangoons, summer rolls, and potstickers( but I forgot the name). And a sweet and spicy entree of shrimp and mango veggies.

Average Chinese take out and non authentic Thai food. The sushi was fresh as it should always be, but just average. Another wannabe "does it all" Asian restaurant.
