Were never disappointed with this well-run, authentic New Mexican joint. There is no better place to go for this type of fare in the Putnam/Westchester/Fairfield area. We went on a Tuesday night on our latest visit, and and the place was packed. This is always a good sign. The food was, as usual, fresh and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the Baja Tuna Tacos cooked rare (which I highly recommend) and my wife had the Flautas. Both dishes were superb. $8 bottom shelf margarita was O.K., but XX on tap never disappoints. My only complaint about this place is that the chairs are small and extremely hard. If you have issues with that kind of thing...bring a cushion? I dunno. Otherwise, the decor is lovely if bordering on tacky southwestern. The service is prompt and friendly. The prices are a touch high for Mexican (most dinner entrees around $20), but par for Ridgefield and well worth it for the quality of the food. The portions are not enormous, so if youre looking to gorge yourself, go to a buffet. They are more than enough for any reasonable appetite, and we always leave with a to-go box. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

New to the area and ordered out from this place for the first time and was very disappointed. Not even close to being worth the high price. The $7.95 guacamole appetizer (which is the largest portion offered) came in one of those small plastic containers you would get from a Chinese restaurant with the red sauce in it for sweet and sour chicken, or in other words, a very small container. The guacamole was also soupy and did not taste fresh. The $7.95 cheese quesadilla was 1 small tortilla (6” size) folded in half. I actually thought this was a mistake because it seems ridiculous to charge that much for half of a quesadilla, and a small quesadilla at that. I also had the chicken fajitas, and found that the chicken was overcooked and dry. I was, however, given a large bag of tortilla chips, but I ended up throwing them out because was only given about a tablespoon of salsa (not an exaggeration), and the guacamole was gone after about 5 chips. I understand Ridgefield can be pricey but this is ridiculous. High prices and below average food, I’m not sure why people would eat here.

I have been a customer and loyal fan of Southwest Cafe for many years (20 +) and selfishly never reviewed it. The food is unique, Mexican, South Western with fresh ingredients and lower fat/ carb versions of "typical" American Mexican cuisine. I am a vegetarian and there are many great options, I love the salads, grilled veggie burrito, guacamole and fresh made salsa and chips. Specials are unique and varied with seasonal ingredients. The staff are really great and Barb the owner is usually there to greet and treat each customer like a friend. Try it!

If youre looking for typical Mexican food then go elsewhere. However the dishes they have are made with top shelf ingredients. The salsa is made fresh every day. I even buy some to take home. The service is always great and the marrgarritas are terrific! :)

Fresh Southwest flavors in a fun location. Great for lunch and dinner. Fajitas are great...they will put them together if you like. Fish specials...yum. Dont forget monthly rib night. Nice selection of wines and of course, margaritas

I used to hate the food - I was a big time Mexican food snob; however I went their recently (after a few years) and the food was outstanding. Perhaps they changed chefs..I also was impressed by the selection of dishes..
