Entrance area very cramped, with cracked floor tiles, watch your step! Only one door of the 2 even works, making it Very awkward for handicapped users. Decor tired and dingy looking. Menus feel grubby. Some tables turn from square to round, with a little fold up leaf on each side, but many are broken so you will likely sit at a funny-shaped table and if you try to fold down the "leaf", 3 people will rush over and make you stop because "it will snap down & hurt you"!!!! Food quite pricey and portions average...quality & care in prep has gone way down in 2016. Waitstaff rude, uncaring, slow...good luck on getting a refill on water, jelly for your toast until it is dead cold, the bacon you ordered until your eggs are cold, and only order soup if you like it served after your entree. If you attempt to complain, expect them not only to yell at you, and ban you from the place, but the owner will stalk you all over the internet, threatening to post security footage of you & your friends (which i doubt is legal).....doing what, looking for the waitress? Watching her vanish and not bring what you requested until you ask 2, 3, 4 times? Hes apparently got plenty of time to do that, but none to clean, train staff, or do something about the food. IMO there are Plenty of other restaurants nearby where you will be much happier, this place is only rated 17 out of 28 in the Lyme area anyway.

SCAM ALERT! I recently had an experience at the Hideaway where I felt I was "shortchanged" at the bar. I immediately brought this to the attention of the bartender who showed me the ticket that was rung up, and the manager, who assured me the error would be caught at the end of the night when the drawer was counted. I was contacted by the owner the next day. He told me the drawer was counted and there was no overage. When I told him I was not surprised, he revealed they have cameras installed that could resolve my complaint. It has now been two weeks and I have not heard back from the restaurant. This is not a big deal, $10, and I would like it to be resolved... Jim, please contact me.

Food was quite good, about a 4.0 rating. Stuffed flounder was tasty and moist. Filet mignon was a bit dry and not as tender as expected but tasted good. Not enough bernaise sauce on the filet. Service was a 2.8 rating. Drink (soda) for 1 person came quickly, drink (iced tea) for the other person took 15 minutes. Didnt bring bread automatically, in fact server never mentioned that bread was available, we overheard another table asking about bread. Service was generally slow, could hear server complain that she had 5 tables to wait on, which isnt a lot. With so many other restaurants in the area, not sure if we would go back to the Hideaway.

Waitress was unessicarily rude and did not seem to like her job. She turned me off when she first opened her mouth. We asked who she wanted to start with and she pointed next to me and said with her but ill wait until shes done talking. Then my papa asked for a napkin and the waitress said no but played it off as a joke. Then never brought us napkins. She also never came to ask us if we liked our food and never filled our drinks. She definitely needs to be trained again. The food was okay but the fillet migon was tough and did not melt in your mouth like it should. The french onion soup was wonderful though!

My last night visiting family, my aunt was kind enough to take me to this good, albeit expensive restaurant. The decor is tacky at best, but the food was decent. I would not go back unless they brought the price of the food down, and I am surprised how busy it was considering the wait staff was unpolished, the food was mediocre, and there was nothing that really made this place something worth going to.

Never had a bad experience here and Ive been going there for years. The food is always good and the portions are big. There is always a big selection. The fried calamari is some of the best in the state. There is good value in this restaurant, if you can get over the dated decor.

Good food....so sad that there is only 1 bartender to take care of a full bar and serve food....people walked out because the bar service was so slow...not bartender fault....should be 2 bartenders.

Hideaway is good but, not good enough for their crazy prpricing. DONT get the prime rib their is way to much fat and it was undercooked. But if you go their for a drink I would reccomend going there.

Great service,great atmosphere and the Russian Patty melt was out of this world! Cant wait to go back for more,they also make the Best bread pudding with homemade caramel sauce on the planet!

The name suits it well. Outside this place looks tiny but then it opens up to a large dining area inside. Good prices, large portions, and lots of tastey eats to choose from.

Average diner fare. Large menu, not much other food options in the area. Good for a quick bite to eat , but probably not for a more formal outing.

Awesome, love the chicken fingers, french onion soup, nachos. All local favorites. Really good lunch menu (cheap) and Sunday morning menu.

$5 for the garlic bread with cheese is the deal of the century. Add a great meal and this place goes to the top of my list.

Burgers are great! French dip is also pretty good as well. Always stop here on our way back to Boston from any road trip.
