We chose to try out this higher priced buffet on Chinese New Year 2013. They charge $16.99 versus the usual $13 for other Asian buffets in the greater Hartford area. Misaka features sushi so we were looking forward to an above average experience. The interior itself is pleasent and large with many booths. This location has been used by many buffets over the years and is in the Big Y shopping center in Manchester on Tolland trpk. The sushi is featured here and takes up a large area of the food center. If you go there for something other than sushi your selection will be a bit less than other buffets in the area. There were many types of sushi rolls and about 6 types of traditional sushi. The main problem was that many were dried and must have been sitting there for a while. It was just ok in terms of flavor and in some cases, the shrimp sushi was completely inedible. There was a sushi chef there and I guess you could have tipped him for something fresh although I didnt ask him. The worst thing was the wasabi. They had a huge container of it, about a half gallon, and it was so dry and crumbling that when I tried to put some on my sushi it would just roll off onto my plate. Weird! The rest of the food was just ok and nothing special. The battered chicken "misaka chicken" was soggy. The funniest thing was the silverware. I think they got their forks from the same company that supplies prisons. Extremely thin and all bent out of shape. Fortunately we use chopsticks but couldnt help notice the cheap silverware. We have been to most of the buffets for many miles around and this is one of the worst. The one down on the Berlin Trpk, Imperial is much better deal and so is the one in New Britain or Newington, cant remember, called hibachi. Also they had lobster but there was only three skinny little arm parts and no attempt to refill during our visit. They also had an hibachi grill but no-one working on it. I would have liked some raw oysters but none were shucked. I dont think they will be there for long unless they drop the price or raise the standards. As we left I told my family they should change the name to Misucki. It would make more sense.

Im rating this restaurant 5 stars based on asian buffets in general, not with respect to all restaurants. My wife, our 2 small children and myself stopped in here last night, about 5:15 on a Saturday night, for dinner. My kids really liked the large fish tanks and huge ornamental goldfish and carp. The restaurant was not crowded or loud. The inside seemed clean and fundamentally laid out like a buffet type restaurant. There was about 16 different types of sushi available, in various rolls or on rice. There were many different types of asian dishes also available from Gyozo dumplings to chicken and broccoli to Miso soup, coconut shrimp, etc. There were many asian salads such as Kimchi, seaweed salad, spicy cucumber, etc. There was a raw bar with clams, oysters, crabs. There was a small hibachi bar where you can pick your ingredients and they cook it up. There were also plenty of deserts. I thought the food was excellent, the service was good, they came by several times to pick up plates and check drinks. The dumplings were especially good. My wife, who is not into asian food actually had 3 plates of various dishes and said shed come back. I had about 4 plates of various sushi as well as salads, miso soup, dumplings etc. Also there were plenty of condiments for the sushi, wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, about 4 other types of sauces, etc. The only knock I would give the place would be that the bathrooms could have used a cleaning but they werent bad. So, based on other asian buffets and buffets in general, I give this place 5 stars, if you like sushi and dont like paying thru the nose for it you should like this place.

Hit or miss quality but fantastic staff. Sometimes everything is fresh and delicious, others items get a bit stale, but thats rather expected from a buffet, and the staff does a really good job upkeeping the food to avoid such downsides. The sushi preparations typically have good quality fish, but the rice isnt as authentic as a proper Japanese restaurant. The diversity in role choices is fantastic, and the chefs seem to get creative with the daily output of sushi roles; I thoroughly enjoy seeing what the craft and tasting the results. The cooked food has thus far been impressive, both in breadth of options and taste (if coming near the beginning of meal-times). Although some moderately healthy options exist in the salad-bar area the cooked dishes tend towards decadent in terms of oil, butter, spices, and salt. This makes most of the food more akin to Chinese or Korean cooking rather than Japanese, and nothing Ive tried has been spicy enough to properly mimic spicy Asian cuisine. The desert options are good, as there is always mochi, an array of cakes, and several ice cream flavours. The green tea ice cream is a particular treat as it isnt of the overly sweet variety, though some may find that a downside. Overall a decent buffet of Asian food, and well priced.

I have been going to Misaki for several years, and up until recently, the food was always fresh and the restaurant itself was very clean. But they made a decision to cater to the interstate bus crowd, and their place has suffered for it. The result is that the bathrooms are a disaster. Toilets dont work, there is filth everywhere, the soap dispensers are broken, the towel dispenser is broken...I thought these things would be addressed but its been many weeks like this, and nothing changes. Its like they have given up. And when the buses show up...the passengers sweep through like locusts and clean out all the fresh food, leaving little for the guests who are actually seated. There are other times (when buses are not running) when the food seems to have been sitting around for a while...and this is rather concerting since we are talking about sushi. The freshness is just not there. I hope they can turn this around soon. Edit: I guess they really did give up. Out of business as of 8/1/17.

I dont normally write reviews, but this restaurant is a disappointing glorified bus-stop. Google rated 8pm to 9pm being one of the busier hours at the establishment - so my partner and I decided to hold off and head for a late dinner when he got out of work. The hibachi had already been closed down, what variety of sushi they had remaining was browning with crunchy rice, the Asian dishes were lukewarm and needed to be stirred frequently to somewhat resemble what the faded tags claimed they were, and the lack of choices mentioned on the website gives Misaki 2 thumbs way down... The wait staff was inattentive and on their cell phones the entire duration of our visit, our beverages were not refilled once until through check had been brought over, and there was zero communication. We wont be dining here again. If youre looking for excellent all-you-can-eat sushi and Asian cuisine, save your $15, hop in the car, and travel to Sushi House in Rocky Hill well worth the $19.99 price tag and made-to-order.
