Born and raised around New Haven, Ct. I find it so hard to locate a descent pie the further you travel away from New Haven. I’ve had some good Pan Pies (Greek style) but nothing compares to a hand tossed pizza. And when you add coal fired or wood ovens it’s to die for. Recently I had the chance to enjoy a traditional New Haven pizza in Manchester Ct. Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria Napoletana. The service is good although you will have to wait a bit for the pie to cook and the tables have plenty of room for large groups and is also very clean. All though the recipe seems to be the same as their New Haven Pizzeria the one draw back is having to wait for the oven to cure. This could take years. The Frank Pepes in New Haven has a coal fired oven generations old and you can taste the difference. It has the flavors of all the past pies made there and an aroma that hits you when you first walk into the door. As in New Haven the cheese is lightly sprinkled and the toppings are of top quality. Because the oven is still curing I would give the pizza a 9 out of 10 and that’s a great pie. I hope you have a chance to enjoy as I did. (A Test) if you think your eating a good pizza try ordering the same pie plain. No mozzarella or toppings just a little graded cheese if still stratifying it’s a good pie.

This food is delicious, and definitely the best pizza Ive had in Manchester. They cover a super thin, crispy and wonderful-tasting dough with whatever combination of their delicious toppings you can imagine. I usually get a large covered with all sorts of wonderful veggies, which tastes amazing and I cant recommend highly enough. The one time I got a medium pie, it came out as a large and I got it for the same price which was awesome :) The decor is nothing special, but this places excellent food and service make it a must visit! (The only problem I have with this place is that they cut their pizza weirdly, like every connecticut pizza place Ive been to. They either do squares or just slice it willy nilly in whatever irregular fashion they feel like, but its not really a problem... unless youre fighting someone for the biggest slice :D)

Its very easy to eat here, really. You simply pull into the small cut out plaza they are located in, right next to the mall! Walk in, and you get to sit anywhere youd like. In chairs, a booth your choice. Waiters/Waitresses come always very fast to serve you. They serve alcohol for those who like to be a little tipsy. They serve mostly just pizza with some salads to choose from. I actually think this is important to restaurants that they stick with what they do best and not dip into foods they are not very good with. I come here a lot with my partner to eat the delicious mozzarella tomato pies. She says she enjoys the slight crispy "char" to their oven baked pizzas.

OMG. GREAT pizza...so crunchy crispy fresh fabulous! The clam pie is unreal its so good. You cant take it out of the place...it must be eaten on the spot right out of the oven. The blue cheese and spinach pie is amazing. My husband is completely around the bend for their Special All Meat pie. Their base pizza dough is super thin, almost a pita, its crunchy, thin, crusty, and while there are bubbles in the dough, I dont taste much yeast in it. No hot drinks, so no coffee, no tea, bring your own hot drink if thats what you like. The salad is fresh. Weve only had pizza and salad and we love it. This is our go to place for pizza in Manchester.

Love this thin crust New Haven style pizza!!! Not sure if its coal-fire or wood-fire ovens, but something just makes this crust 1 of the best thin-crusts ever. The red sauce is delicious and any toppings Ive gotten (sausage, pepper, onion for the most part) are great. They have a summer special from Jul - Aug which is def worth checking out. Atmosphere is nice... bright and covered with some nice old photos, you can see the kitchen/ovens when you walk in... Ive been told this pizza is not as good as the location in New Haven, but I cant imagine this pizza being much better than it already is... Great pizza spot!!

On my way home, my friend and I decided to stop at Frank Pepe Pizzeria in Manchester. We love pizza especially the way it is prepared by Frank Pepe. We got our pizza and were eating it, when our waiter came over with another pizza. He explained that the first pizza was charred too much. We explained that we would not be able to eat the second pizza. He wanted us to take it home. We were very grateful that this pizzeria cared about their customers experience as well as their reputation. Hats off to Frank Pepe. We will certainly return in the future!!

The best pizza anywhere (except for the original Pepes in New Haven)! Friendly, efficient service in a warm but no-nonsense atmosphere. Interior design and layout that eerily mirrors the New Haven store. I love that they replicated the brick oven on Wooster Street perfectly. The only thing missing is Mama Pepe slowly shuffling around the kitchen in her apron while everyone else is rocketing around her trying to get orders out.

NOT NEW HAVEN! Please dont judge the real Pepes pizza off of this establishment. 2 out of 3 times Manchester has failed to live up to the name while I have ordered there. Way too thick, under cooked and uneven toppings. Now that thats out of the way it is still the best pizza in town. Management, please keep a closer eye on this restaurant because it is tainting your priceless name and embarrassing me when I bring people here.

Pizza is great from other locations but this one is usually soggy and for some reason, it is never cut into normal slices, square or triangles. One time our pizza was under cooked and cold in the center and usually the slices are all messed up, which is very weird. Otherwise, flavors are great and pizza is perfect from other locations.

I live in NY, as you know Most pizza is compared to, but i have to say what i have at least twice a month is Frank pepe pizza. Words cant explain the quality, if you are from NY ask for a NY cut they dont seem to mind. And by the service cant be Beat . I highly recommend Frank Pepe pizzeria absolutely a most have.

After all those great reviews we expected to get much better pizza. Our pizza was kind of dry on one side. Also we found nothing special about the taste besides it was made in a brick oven. It is very average pizza and you can get much better one from some other places such as New England Pizza for instance.
