They changed the menu and maybe ownership it was a disappointment. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We called made a reservation, ask if they had the sword fish, it was our favorite menu item. The person on the phone didnt know, said to check the website. We didnt check, because they had other great menu items that we always enjoyed... We get there, they didnt have our name done for reservation : /, they sat us at a random table, for the walk ins I guess. Our waiter greeted us, we order a cocktail, and said wed both like the sword fish... He informs us the menu changed. OK well have the filet mignon, Oh thats off the menu too! OK well have the scallops, Oh, we are out of scallops tonight! So we decided to look at the menu, and what used to be a fine dining restaurant menu, turned into a menu items that were not fine dining. We ordered a pear cranberry salad, one that the waiter said was a customer favorite, the dressing was like paste. Awful.. I had the special that was lamb chops, awful, I asked med/well I received them Rare. Oh there were 2 of them. My boyfriend ordered the chicken panko dinner... Another disappointment. We could of went to a diner and had a better meal. I guess our mistake for not checking the website for the new menu....

The food is clean and decent. The service is the worse I have ever had. This is the 4th time I have been there in 4 months and tonight was the last time. The restaurant is an institution in Farmington and clearly does not feel the need to worry about good or even fair customer service. The wait staff disappears and does not check back. Tonight after waiting for 40 min for a simple steak and grilled tuna we went looking for the waiter we had not seen since we ordered. He explained the kitchen was backed up and they would get to it. could have cared less. we asked for another glass of wine while we waited...again he disappeared (we were sitting in the bar area) and we then had to get the manager involved. They adjusted the bill. This is the same thing that has happened the previous 3 times I have been there. All done!

Tried this place after heard nothing but good things about it. I was a little shocked at the pricing of each item on the menu. However I dont mind paying if the food is exceptional. The appetizer and entrees were good, but not good enough for the price. If the prices were maybe 20% less I would have a better word or two for them. When your bill comes after the meal you are in shock at the price for what you have just eaten. Food is good and ambiance is good (its on the river) but the price is just hard to swallow. Ive eaten in places in downtown Boston that were cheaper and better. If you are going on a first date and trying to impress the girl, I would say to bring her here. The setting is a good one....

Apricots has become like our local-area go-to diner for lunch and early dinner --> fairly-priced, too. I think the lunch and bar/tavern menu prices are surprisingly affordable, good prices, to match good food. Its not as gourmet as it was touted but its delicious as down-home comfort food. Ive loved the Sea Scallops appetizer and the Pork Chop. Burgers are good, semi-gourmet, much better than a fast-food place: the beef is high-quality so they will prepare it rare to my liking. Happy Hour is fun, very pleasant, features a buffet snack area placed atop the piano. My teenage son and I eat there several times a week.

went for a 30th wedding anniversary. perfect experience, waiter Tom very professional , helpful, but not over friendly, perfect timing, perfect manners A+. Outstanding food experience. We have an escargot for an appetizer, then apricots salad, both were great. Than, as an entrée, my wife was very happy with the salmon and I loved my rack of lamb. Fair size portions, not overwhelming. For the desert, "lust", is really hard to beat. Great choice of wine, for any taste. Even coffee was really good. Absolutely positive experience.

I have been to Apricots many times and its simply overrated...I go now for cocktails on the river and that is it. The food is honestly sub par for the price and continues to survive due to old money patronage. The last time I went for brunch (never again...awful) there was an older woman sitting alone dressed up in her shimmering Sunday best blitzed out of her mind eating a muffin in the entranceway...crumbs all over herself. Felt so sorry for her....but it pretty much sums up the place.

Total Disappointment - I actually used to work for Ann Howard the founder of this restaurant and remember her amazing food and service. On a recent return trip to Farmington we ate at Apricots. I was expecting a wonderful Sunday brunch but was so disappointed. The bread on the table was cold and at least a day old, the salad bar so sparse it was a shock and the food completely underwhelming. So sad, Ann Howard would be shocked.

Ann Howard’s Apricots was such a disappointment. For years I had heard the hype about this Farmington restaurant, so when we stumbled upon it I was delighted to suggest to my daughter that we stop. The food was inedible. I ordered the lobster roll, which was so watery and tasteless I sent it back immediately, along with the joke of a caesar salad they sent on the side. Close up shop if this is the best you can do.

Weve been going to this place for years its always been one of our favorites for food and the views. Just a great place...unfortunately this has all changed. We went there for a special occasion dinner tonight and the service was awful. We sat for an hour with only the drinks that we ordered, no rolls no food, we didnt even see our waitress for 15 to 20 minutes!!! Very, very disappointing. Stay away...

Four of us had the pleasure of dining in the pub section of Apricots. We all ordered different entrees from the pub menu and were all delighted with our meals. The ingredients were of good quality, made to perfection with an elegant presentation and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Extra treats were good service, and a talented piano player/singer. We all agreed that we will be going back soon.

A Smart, kind, considerate, and friendly waiter, a comfortable decor, and a nice view of the river set the mood for the relaxed yet flavorful evening. Time between placing orders and arrival of food was not to long, yet not to short. Although its an elegant restaurant, it wasnt to much so. Food was simple in a good way. Desert kept the same standards.

This is one of my favorite dining places! My boyfriend and I love to visit for drinks and dinner or just a salad. The atmosphere is fantastic and the view from upstairs is beautiful with the Farmington river flowing by. Definitely a great place to go and relax at the bar or in the more formal dining area. Highly recommend!

After years of wanting to go to Apricots I finally went there for dinner with my husband. It was such a disappointment. The food was mediocre, our waiter was positively rude and it was over priced. This area has so many great restaurants. Do yourself a favor and choose another place for a delicious dining experience.
