I was pleasantly surprised by Oyama Enfield. This was my first visit and only my third hibachi experience (have been to Ginza and Sakura in the past two years) and we arrived for a 6pm reservation. We were the first and only customers when we arrived, and that made us a bit skeptical. Our party of 6 was seated at our hibachi table and our drink order was taken. Beers were ice cold and cocktails were good. We ordered appetizers (gyoza beef dumplings and crispy orange sesame chicken) to share and both were very good. Miso was good, salad was cold and crisp. (Two of the six salads came without dressing, but that was fixed right away by our server.) Our hibachi chef arrived and was very good...not as personable as our last chef at another restaurant, but very proficient. Steaks looked beautiful and fresh. Chicken and shrimp were both excellent as well. Portions were bigger than both of our past hibachi meals and everything was as good if not better. All six of us felt we got a delicious meal at a fair price, and would all return in the future. Glad we stayed close to home and gave Oyama a try. Well be back! (*It would be nice to have a cloth napkin for hibachi instead of paper...especially if you like the sake...just a recommendation.)

I have come here a little more than a handful of times, once for hibachi, very fun! They had us catch Saki in our mouths! I would recommend getting a reservation for large parties. I am a big sushi lover, and their special "kiss of fire" was amazing! I want to say it was spicy yellow tail, rice, jalapeno peppers, and mango on the inside and salmon, shrimp, avacodo, and spicy glaze sauce over the top. DELICIOUS roll special! Their scorpion bowl is a bit pricey, but you must consider all the liquor that goes into it...and they light the middle on fire like traditional scorpion bowls! They had an amazing coffee with Kahlua, vodka, and whipped cream on top... a great dessert drink after a lovely meal! Wonderful atmosphere and staff, good music, and comfortable vibe. Even if you arent a fan of sushi or alcoholic beverages, they have tea and different juices, and a wonderful variety of food. Duck, chicken, beef, seafood..vegetarian, tofu...etc. If you havent already, come enjoy a meal. I think Ive persuaded myself in coming in tomorrow for some chow (lol) Give it a try sometime! Its right next to Home Depot and TGI Fridays in Enfield, CT. You gotta check it out!

I took my husband out to dinner for his birthday. I asked for a 6:45 reservation. We were asked to come at 7 but were not asked to come earlier. When we arrived at 6:55 there was a party of 4 at our habachi that had all their food on the habachi already. At the opposite habachi there was a party of 7 for a birthday party that already had appetizers soup and salad served they were waiting to order because 3 guests were late. We felt like uninvited guests to someone elses birthday dinner. The sushi appetizer I ordered special for my husband was forgot about, the chefs back was facing us the entire night, we were last to be served and received the smallest portion. The chef did not have much for habachi skills either. Not impressed with the habachi food however the sushi was very good. If I return it would only be for the sushi.

The food is great. The chefs are wonderful. The wait-staff is excellent, but the management sucks. What else could explain the fact that our entire hibachi table (made up of 2 different parties with separate reservations) each had 7pm reservations and didnt sit down to eat until nearly 8:30. We didnt get out of there till close to 10pm. They obviously over-booked and/or need to hire more chefs to accomodate the number of people they have eating there at peek times. They never did anything to try to make amends, except for apologize. We even asked to speak to the manager and he was too afraid to come over. The same thing happened to us just the week before with 8pm reservations. So if you do go, highly suggest you go before 7 or after 9. You wont have to worry about bumping into us, were not going back.

The staff and owner was very warm and welcoming upon our arrival. My girlfriend and I couldnt have been more pleased with the attentive service and kind staff. Although unfortunately our food did not match the service. The soup that came standard with the meal (vegetables and tofu soup) was subpar and tasteless in comparison to other japanese restaurants we frequent. I had the oyama roll which was not edible and tasted like the fish they used was old. I could say the same about the tuna roll that I had. I sent both back with a full refund(the owner was happy and quick to deduct it from the bill) Luckily the Chicken udon noodle plate that my girlfriend had was tasty. Overall great service but poor food and weak scorpion bowls with barely any alcohol. Hope this review helps your choice to visit or not.

Very disappointed.... took my little sister out to eat my shrimp was rancid tasting. The chicken was not cooked improperly. Too much garlic in the rice. Watered down drinks. Overall worst meal Ive had at Oyama. Definitely will not be coming back I assume the guy up front is the owner and when he came to check on our table and I tried to let him know our concerns and it was brushed off ended up paying for the meal because I did eat the rice and noodles that will be my last time visiting this establishment not worth the money paid for. Worst example of Japanese Hibachi

The people are nice there, but our food was disgusting. We ordered hibachi. The scallops were very overcooked and my daughter took her chicken home to cook it more the next day because she couldnt eat it the way it was - it was pink. The vegetables were undercooked as well. For the amount of money they charge, the food should be cooked properly. We wont be back.

The sushi here is amazing. Definitely some of the freshest sushi around. My fiancé and I often go at lunch time and we have great service and Are always seated right away. As a tip you can order hibachi meals even if you are sitting down on the restaurant side. It is often much quicker and the food tastes just as good!

I had ordered a sushi lunch box. The rice was tasteless, dry and barely held its shape for nigiri sushi. The miso soup was from a packet. The dumplings were slimy and overcooked. The shrimp was still frozen on the inside, the salmon was all fat and the tuna was dry. Overall, was not a great experience.

We visited with a party of 15 with a reservation. After waiting for an hour and a half and a few members of our party leaving, we were treated VERY rudely by our server and ended up walking out. My family and I will never go to Oyama again. Ever.

Sushi was terrible. The rice tasted dry and stale and the wasabi was so dry it crumbled when I touched it with chopsticks. Portions were small, as well. Definitely never going back.

Sushi was ordered and ready within a half hour for pickup. However, you didnt get much for the price and it was warm.
