I was born in Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut. Derby is the smallest city in the State of Connecticut. I have loyalty to Derby and I have found two hidden gems in the small city. One is Roseland Apizza and the other is the Dew Drop Inn. My first visit was Saturday April 19, 2014. I was researching different burgers in the New Haven Connecticut area and Dew Drop Inn was listed as ones to check out. The first burger I tried was the Rodeo Burger which is described as "Cheddar Cheese, Onion Rings, Bacon and BBQ Sauce. On my second visit I had the Blue Goat which is described as “Goat Cheese, Cucumbers, Mixed Greens and creamy blueberry dressing”. On both visits my hamburgers were cooked exactly as I specified them to be, well done. I want them as hockey pucks and Dew Drop Inn delivered. Prime 16 in New Haven is still my favorite burger place but Dew Drop Inn deserves an honorable mention in the category. On one of my visits I brought my girlfriend from Ireland with me. We both shared the Fried Mozzarella Sticks and Jalapeno Poppers. Both were good and we both enjoyed them. I told different people about my three visits to the Dew Drop Inn. The one comment I constantly heard from different people was “you haven’t tried their wings yet”. On my fourth visit I ordered the Cajun BBQ Wings. I haven’t had wings in years. I love the taste but they are messy. You do have to use your hands and sometimes lick your fingers. My mom would be horrified. The staff reassured me it was okay to be messy. Since then I have had the JD BBQ, Jim Beam Bourbon BBQ and General Tsao’s wings. The Cajun BBQ Wings are my absolute favorite followed by the JD BBQ. Jim Beam Bourbon and General Tsao’s tie for third. All these wings I have tried are phenomenal. This is most definitely a wing place. I overheard the owner talking about different craft beers they have. Craft beers are growing on me however I still prefer a Guinness with a shot of Jägermeister the best. The staff at Dew Drop Inn are excellent. I like the customers. Some of the customers can be load when they come in but will also say excuse me if they accidently bump into me on the way to the bathroom. One time there was this nice couple who brought in bread and was insistent that I had a piece. I am giving this place 4.2 stars. The only two drawbacks. One is the place is small and gets crowded very quick. The second is parking which seems to be limited which. These are the reasons why I try to arrive about 11:15 on a Saturday for lunch. As I first stated, this place is a gem.

I used to think this was a seedy dive bar. Now, I see why there were always lines of cars and motorcycles outside. I went to dinner with a friend here the other night. It was the first time Id eaten there, and I lived in Derby for a few years. I have no idea why I ever waited!! I wish Id gone there years ago. The wings are Amazing!!! This is not a "one trick pony"! Their varied menu includes dozens of items. From bar favourites like onion rings, sliders, chicken tenders, and other typical bar food to gourmet burgers and salads. The diverse menu is created by and combined with a talented and inventive chef, making a gourmet greasy spoon by day/seedy tavern by night that caters to many palates and diets. Everyone can find something theyll love on the menu. Future date nights will definitely be planned here. Prior to that, I think I may have shared some of their famous wings with a coworker once.

My wife and I went at 2pm on a Thursday. The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive to both tables and customers at the bar. Dew Drop has a great craft beer selection and a large unique assortment of wraps, burgers, and wings. Wings were a good size and flavorful. My wife was very happy with her burger, she allowed me to try it. It was a unique burger that had thin apple slices and was cooked perfectly. We filled up on the delicious appetizer we ordered of sweet potato wedges with caramel dipping sauce so part of our lunch will be dinner tonight. Portions were also generous. We both left already looking forward to our next return and trying something else on the menu. Thanks for the great experience!

This place is definitely one of my top three favorite bars in CT. Why? Beer selection is great and always rotating w/ huge selection. Wings are probably the best Ive ever had (j timothy hype aint anything to write home about) DD has some crazy good, unique flavors of wings. My go to is the lazy man (buffalo, blue cheese, and chopped celery all mixed into the wings) also, cajun dry rub is a must (Always crispy) Waitresses are always great (edgy/cool/funny) and always as helpful as they can be (can get overwhelmingly busy here) Wish the place was a little bigger - can feel cramped at times. But hey, its the Dew Drop. It is what it is and thats what makes this place so damn cool.

Got there at 10:30 and the waitress looked aggravated we were trying to order food. I dont understand why if the place closed at one. We ordered wings and they tried to limit the amount we ordered she even said "omg you guys are killing us".. did they not want our money? She said next time we will serve you.. there will not be a next time. We drove to another location and spent 200 dollars on food and drinks. 200 dollars that could have gone in the owners pocket but since we apparently killed the waitress with our ridiculous order of wings we will not return to spend our money here.

A cozy little Bar in Derby Connecticut that has some of the best burgers Ive ever had. Their burger selection is by far one of the best and their beer selection is also very good. My only complaint and its not a big one is just the size of the overall bar itself. Its certainly tight and most of the seating happens to be right next to the bathrooms which can be unfortunate if somebody happens to use the facilities and makes a bit of a stink. That and parking can be a little tough but with plenty of streets surrounding the Dew Drop Inn you can surely find somewhere to park your car.

Hole in the wall... The bouncer ran right up to the door and asked for IDs with a big attitude, we werent even fully in the door yet. Talk about a first impression! They kept running out of draft beers... on a Friday?? Thats a quick way to lose money. Food is decent but goes through your system quicker than Taco Bell. There is no parking so you have to walk down this poorly lit street with cars flying by. Service is a big hit or miss. We started with one server, then another, then ended up with someone completely different for the bill.

Best wings in the area, if not the state. Blows Porkys and Archie Moores away. Tons of variety. Can get quite loud, so dont expect an easy conversation, but if wings are your thing, you have to stop by. A word to the wise...the suicide wings are no joke. Eat only if you dont want to anything else that night...its not a gimmick! I had 3 friends taken down by them and their evening food consumption quickly went offline. My favorite is Parmesan Bacon Garlic...amazing & their fresh fries (kind of a chip varietal) are excellent!
