I have been to the 99 in Stratford before, so when they opened one in Danbury I was so excited! My boyfriend surprised me last night (July 1, 2016) by taking me to 99; our wait just to be seated was about an hour. I understand since the restaurant is somewhat new the wait would be long, but never over an hour long… We ordered Apps and they took about a half hour to come out yes the place was swamped so it’s understandable. We enjoyed the apps, But when our food came out (I ordered the chicken tender and steak tip combo and my boyfriend ordered the all star burger) something didn’t seem right. My boyfriend had one bite of his burger and was full, I had one chicken tender and one bite of a steak tip, within 5 minutes I started to not feel good (headache and dizziness) I thought it was just a headache for I spent the whole day at work in the sun and didn’t drink much water. . We paid and left the restaurant, before we went home my boyfriend ran across the street to Wal-Mart to pick something up, and I stayed in the car, within 20 minutes of leaving the restaurant I had thrown up the food I just ate and I knew it was the food because my throw up had chunks of undigested food. When my boyfriend came out of Wal-Mart and saw my throw up he tried calling 99 to explain to them what happened, but both numbers on the receipt didn’t work- for the numbers seemed to be out of order. So my boyfriend decided to go back to 99 and explain to the manager what just happened… The manager on duty strongly believed that it wasn’t from the food but took an inncident report. You could see it on my face that I couldn’t even stand and that I was so pail but still JOE the manager didn’t want to believe they did anything wrong. NOT ONLY DID THE MANAGER NOT SAY SORRY BUT ALSO THEY DIDN’T EVEN OFFER US A REFUND FOR MY MEAL OR EVEN A VOUCHER TO COME BACK. THAT IS THE THING THAT MADE ME THE MOST UPSET I TELL YOU TO STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM 99 IN DANBURY FOR THEY DON’T CARE IF YOU GET SICK FROM THEIR FOOD... I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK.

This Applebys reject is attached to a Holiday Inn motel, which is good for 99s, as those staying at the motel might be lured in with how convenient it is. (its also helpful because this restaurant DOESNT HAVE A RESTROOM, so diners have to go into the motel lobby to "freshen-up"!!!) The restaurant is about 45% bar, and I assume thats where a lot of their money is made. It leaves 55% room for tables & booths, and sad "decor" consisting for pictures of local Danbury athletic teams and government buildings, presumably hung to show 99s is a "home-town" place, instead of the economy chain it really is. We sat down at a soaking wet table (I assume freshly mopped?), and ordered drinks & our food: Prime Rib with salad (creamy Italian dressing) & "upgraded" loaded baked potato, and barbecue ribs with rice & broccoli. The salad arrived with balsamic dressing (NOT creamy Italian). The baked potato arrived with a pile of sour cream, a few shreds of mystery cheese, and NO bacon. The ribs arrived with the rice & broccoli already COLD. We asked for extra butter, and the lumps of butter sat on top of the cold food, not melting. Also, the ribs are called "Apple Barbecue", because someone had the bright idea of dumping apple sauce on top of it, which was disgusting. The waitress was nice, the place is awful.

1st time at 99, The hadnt been open long so we have it a try. I was very disappointed. My husbands food was cold, veggies not cooked very well, though we did request them cooked soft. Mine were the same but actually Cold! My food was greasy and inedible. We did let the waitress know, but no response. A month or more later we figured they had time to smooth things out and decided to try again. 2nd time, was even worse! I got a burger . It was not what I asked for. Everything I asked NOT to be on it was on it, and it was overcooked. Fries were not bad, but were not hot. The WORST part of our second visit was the seating. We asked to be moved to another table, but the waitress said she couldnt move us where she we wanted " a few min later she seated another couple there. Then- she seated a table of noisy active children behind us! Im talking 6, 5 - 9 yr olds bouncing on the bench, standing up there and plopping down. Which more than one server saw and ours just rolled her eyes. NEVER AGAIN!

We went in for early dinner around 5pm. Plenty of available tables and no waiting. We were promptly seated. Waiter came over, and introduced himself, stating he would be taking care of us. What a joke. I normally love this place for a family meal. Today, was like a zombie apocalypse inside. Waiter never cracked a smile, not an inkling of personality. Not friendly or personable at all. There were 4 of us, I had to ask for additional silverware as there were only 2 settings. A miserable hour plus waiting for food, asking for items we should have already had, and the check handed to me without asking if we would like dessert...which my little one did. As for our original zombie waiter...dont know where he was most of the time..a young lady kept bringing us our food, and helping to bring napkins, etc. Horrible experience! It WAS one of our favorite places. Very disappointing.

Food is average at best. I compared it to food you could get at a hospital cafeteria. They start you with a complementary bowl of popcorn. Popcorn? WTF? Are we at the circus? I had a crock of the soup of the day chicken noodle it definitely wasnt homemade I could tell it came from a bag pre-packaged pre-prepared. I followed that with country fried chicken with gravy. It was served with mashed potatoes, corn and a biscuit. Both the corn and the biscuit were covered with this honey butter sauce with the consistency of syrup it turned me off from eating either item. Now the mashed potatoes and fried chicken were not bad best part of the meal unfortunately the gravy was completely flavorless it might of well been hot water on top of my chicken and mash. My girlfriend had chicken pot pie, she said it was ok. Tonight I think Ill visit the hospital cafeteria rather than here.

Love this place. I have Celiac disease, and eating out can be a stressful experience. The staff here are amazing, and they have never served me gluten contaminated food. It is the ONLY restaurant that has never poisoned me with gluten. I know i am safe when eating here. They go above and beyond to reassure me that the food is safe. The main chef or manager personally prepares my food, to make sure there is no cross contamination. It should be noted that I never asked for the manager or head chef to prepare my good, the offered. This is what I mean by going above and beyond. The staff are friendly, the food is tasty, prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is modern. What more can you ask for in a restaurant! Thanks 99!

Ehhh?? This place is one step up from DENNYS -food and everything....Their not really experienced here either ...you can definitely see it from the door, literally, from the door. I watched a Hostess tell a couple they couldnt sit in a booth, like she was the police, and they took my i.d. like they were the police (because it was from out of state ) and made a big deal about it ...hello?!?! You are attached to a hotel! If you scrutinized every out of state id ....geez wow what a waste of time..... all in all ...this place is a Dennys in a dress...(and that hits the nail on the head right there)... nothin special...the menu is huge itll give ya a head ache and the waitressing is horrible but whatever ...Ill live
