This may be the single worst place in Bridgeport to go for lunch. Nothing at all wrong with the food. The system they have for lunch orders is absent of any logic at all. Here are two examples; First, we call in an order 1.5 hours ahead of when we need it for our meeting. When I get there to pick up the order the staff says I have to wait in line that is filled with people placing orders for lunch. No separate place to pick up completed phone orders. This took over 20 mins. On another occasion I call in an order. They ask for my name and tell me the order will be ready in 10 mins. I show up 15 mins later. I give me name for the order and they have no clue as to what was on the order. Why exactly do they ask for my name when taking a multi- sandwich order? I waited for 20 mins before hey could get me the order! The sad part about it all is that other people waiting for orders were actually joking on how long and how unorganized the entire lunch order process is. A woman came in and ordered a buttered roll and actually said it is the only thing she can get from there for lunch without spending her entire lunch break waiting! I will never again place any kind of order for my company from Chaves Bakery on State St. They really should not advertise or encourage local businesses to use them for lunch orders until they can come up with some kind of system to handle the orders.

All the sandwiches are reasonably priced and REALLY big. A great deal. Make sure you call before ordering lunch, and wait a good 20 minutes before going. I prefer to get the #10 on a grinder. If you show up there you might get unlucky and have to wait in a long line. The muffins are all good and the donuts are very good. Also very reasonable. Great place if you are willing to risk spending some time there to get fresh bread and good food at low prices.

Used to get their products for commercial account for an old business. Tried to contact them recently to set up new business account for new business. No one seemed interested in getting back to me. Called several times and visited as well. Promised to call back but never did. Finally gave up. I shouldnt have to bust my ass to convince them to sell me their products. Went with another bakery who wanted my business. Horrible customer service.

Was having a bad week !!!car broke down , dad in hospital trying to refinance house , just to many things going on. My girlfriend brought home Chaves Portuguese bread and it was the best thing that happened !!!they just do a dam good job at getting it right. I never did this before. Making a comment on things , but they have dam good bread

Althought the bakery in Shelton is new the service is terrible, I waited 20 minutes and will never come back, alot of customers walked out. Royal Bakery in Huntington is much quicker and better. They need to hire people that care and are quicker to survive this economy, I dont care how many bakeries they own!!!!

This is the WORST cake I have ever buy. It is not a cake when it has ONLY ONE INCH high of bread and 9 Inches high on top of bread of Frosting, surround by one inch thick of the same disgusting frosting. I will Never buy them again one

Great place. Service is good once you know them. At first they may seem a little rude but they are in fact actually pretty nice. The sandwiches/wraps are a good price for the size. They really load it up. Great desserts too.

Watch out of this bakery. Im an associate of a hotel they deliver to. Are last delivery from them gave us 2 loaves of expired bread. Delivered on 12/1 and it had already expired on 11/30.

I purchased a cheese cake from them and I must say it was the worst cheesecake I have ever had. The cake was stale and the flavor was almost spoiled. Never again.

It wont let me erase the one star but the service sucks, they hung up on you and dont call back and there service is slow and employees are very rude

If you want a FRESH, FULL and tasty sub, go to Chaves. The value is outstanding. You may have to wait a minute, but it is well woth the wait!
