We were passing through and was told this was the best place in town. We were in a party of 6 and everyone got their food and thought is was delicious, except my husband and I. We waited 35 minutes before going inside and asking why our food wasnt ready yet, and were told it was in the oven. After another 10 to 15 minutes our friends were finished eating and ready to leave. We went inside to get a refund and was told by a young blond girl with glasses, who claimed to be the manager, that we could not have a refund. That the food we ordered was on the counter and she was not going to credit my card. I told her we had no time and we were not going to make our friends wait on us. She bagged the food and told us to take it to go. She was rude and there was no apology for this meal taking 45 to 50 minutes. I told her we were on a motorcycle and had nowhere to put it and needed a refund. She finally agreed to credit my card only after arguing with first my husband, then myself for at least 10 minutes each. It is a shame that someone with this type of horrible personality is the person dealing with the public and ruining our opinion of the town of leadville. We traveled 200 miles a day for 7 days across this beautiul state and she is the only person we ran across with a frown and a bad attitude.

Just a pizza store. OK Just eat when you are hungry, that simple. I dont know if it is a week too early for the season, but it is just run of the mill, supreme, pepperoni etc. Good to stuff yourself after the mountain (and sure not before big hike) or long drive. And, for Leadville, it is good to have a reliable meal which will not give you runners. Unlike other "pros" (be it medical, dental, eye, repairs, construction) in town, these ones will not make you risk your life or health. Good place to in the yard with your crew, unless you get some geniuses nearby who think that the frisbee golf course is meant for pizza pies (in order to explain pizza slices in the alley behind the fence). Unlike usual suspicion which you should always have in high country when something is pitched under label "mountain" for naive tourists and yuppies, these are OK. And, remember, after the mountain, pretty much any food is gooood.

I just got back from Leadville, CO and I had been looking forward to trying High Mountain Pies after all of the reviews. I was disappointed. The pizza was ok, I was thrown off by service. We ordered a pizza to go since we were staying close by. Well we waited 45 minutes (they had told us the wait would be 20 minutes) until we asked if they knew how long it would be. It turns out our pizza had been sitting there for 25 minutes and no one had called out are names (the place is so small they didnt even need to yell). So by the time we got home our pizza was cold, and tasted like any regular cold pizza. They gave us our brownie for free, so at least they knew they had messed up. Instead of going here, I would rather visit Amicas in Salida. A little farther drive but delicious and HOT!

This is my most favorite place in the entire world to eat. They make EVERYTHING fresh and homemade. I dont even like most pizza places now because no one is nearly as good as they are. Every time I am in town, this is a must have. I will go out of my way to eat here. I always get a spinach calzone with meatballs. But EVERYTHING I have eaten here is phenomenal. The wait is sometimes long because they are busy and making your food from scratch, almost everything is made to order, or made that morning. Nothing is frozen! I have never eaten anything from here that I did not like. The owners are amazing people and I highly, highly, highly recommend this place. If you visit Leadville, this needs to be one of your stops!

Amazing place to go in Leadville!! The pizza and breadsticks are so yummy and crispy. I havent had such a good pizza in a long time!! They make everything from scratch in the kitchen, (not using frozen doughs or materials) you can even see they are make. We had the Big Island pizza with pineapple. Beautiful backyard outdoor dining area is great for family gathering or party. They also have disk golf and some toys for kids. Tue servers are very enthusiastic, friendly and quick. Its not on the main Street though, have to look closely since they have a very humbly small name sign. Absolutely will visit again, and highly recommend to our friends and family.

For a delivery pizza joint, this was serious pie! Great, great crust. I was a little disappointed in the specialty pizza we got, but only because it wasnt as phenomenal as it looked on the menu. It was very good, though. The wings, being baked and not fried, still had a lot of fat from the skin and werent really crispy, but they were delicious. The staff was very kind to our kids. They gave them dough to play with while we waited and chatted with them when they checked on us. Im not sure if there are any other pizza places in Leadville, but I wouldnt bother with them. I wish we had a place like this in the Springs.

Yummy!! I split a medium deluxe with the hubby, it was delicious! Possibly the best pizza crust Ive ever had, crisp on the outside and soft inside. Had a satisfying cracking sound when breaking it apart but not hard to chew. The sauce is a tad on the plain side, not at all bad but not memorable. The toppings were very fresh tasting. I got a small arugula salad with ranch dressing to start and it was dang good as well! Ranch tasted freshly made and the toppings were unusual but totally worked. The balsamic onions were so sweet I thought they were grapes at first. I would absolutely go back next time Im in town.

Easily the best pizza Ive had in recent memory! My family and I have been wandering around the mountains of Colorado for a couple of weeks when fate brought us to High Mountain Pies, and Im glad it did! Business was hopping on a Saturday afternoon so finding a table on its charming patio took a few minutes but it was definitely worth the wait! Our meal started off with some of the best garlic bread Ive had in my life and the pizza was phenomenal! I will definitely be stopping in on future visits to Leadville!

Best pizza for hundreds of miles :) I love this place, it can get pretty busy, so dont expect instantaneous service. Not to say its not efficient (it is), but if youve ever worked in a restaurant, you know when youre slammed, its gonna take some time. And pies arent something you can just nuke and toss on the table :) They definitely have some odd combos, but they are pretty dang great :) I look forward to my boys playing against Leadville teams, I get to eat some great pizza :)

6 stars! This is a great spot! I had a lovely pizza and the crust was cooked to perfection. I think it might be the best ever! The ingredients are high quality and very fresh. The staff is friendly and gracious. The outdoor dining is spacious and sunny. The indoor area seems sufficient when you cannot be outdoors. They have a huge pick up and delivery clientele. I will be there the next time I drive Hwy 82 to or from Aspen and Denver. Tell your friends.
