Of course we are more than aware that the customer service here is shitttyy to say the least. Today my roommate and I ordered something different Bobas. I had the white chocolate Boba, which was very tasteful. My roommate on the other hand, mistakenly asked the waiter for his favorite flavor. He suggested the Avocado Boba...Yuck right? Well it was disgusting it tasted like drinking AVOCADO LOL Well anyway, we asked to exchange this bitter drink and the same waiter rudely replied "No, thats impossible." Im sorry what exactly is impossible? I sat there thinking maybe he is confused about the question, like all other employees he barely spoke English. I explained to him that we had no problem paying for this Boba but we would like a different flavor, and that we didnt even drink it we only tried it. The cup sat in full as we argued our way in circles, this man was just not getting it. How could it be impossible to make a new drink. Not sure if it was to cut all profit loss completely or if they were just flat out cheap but they were clearly not aware of what customer service is and what it consists of. So we tried to explain to him that at ANY restaurant in America if you do not eat your food, you do not pay for it. Clearly we must not know anything about anything since this server was "20 years in restaurant, Dont lie to me." Yeah one cheap restaurant, this server was now calling us liars. Before the disgusting drink we were going to tip him ten bucks on a thirty dollar tab, but when he started accusing us of lying and making us feel ripped off, i decided to not leave anything. He could just keep those four dollars of Boba we did not drink as his very well deserved tip. To add on top of that this waiter continuously lied to us, first he said he spoke with the manager within 30 seconds then when I demanded to speak to him myself, the manager was conveniently out of the restaurant, again this happened within 1 minute. After years of tolerating the inattentive and slow service, we are finally able to say that we are done coming to this place.

Love the food here. Except I cant stand the service. I wish I could tip the cooks and not the waiters. I went out to lunch here with 2 coworkers. They delivered the tab and we asked if we could split the bill accordingly to whatever the person ordered. The waiter literally made quite a scene that he didnt want to do it be "it was too much work." He spoke English perfectly, and once his fit was done, we agreed that it would be fine if we split it evenly (under the waiters suggestion), he then proceeded to pick up the tab and stare at it (all the while huffing about it being so much work and it looked like he was trying to do the calculations in his head). I started to reach for my phone, which has a calculator on it, to help him out when he abruptly turn around and stalked away. My co-workers and I stared after him dumbfounded. I very rarely dont leave a tip, but he did not get any tip from me. If you go a bit north of this location, youll find another vietnamese restaurant called the Saigon Bowl (or also called the Dahn Kahn). Their food is pretty much on par with New Saigon, and I have always had a pleasant experience with them. And they have a calculator. The only catch is that you have to you usually pay at the counter because they can take a while to deliver your bill or pick it up.

I visited two weeks ago with my brother and mother. It was a "low" volume Sunday for them in terms of customers, meaning we were seated immediately. Sadly that was the best part of the experience. We ordered a "lau" or vietnamese style hot pot which shouldnt take that long to prepare as the soup base is probably already made and the ingredients are raw and you have to wait for the pot to boil at the table before dumping them in. We waited for ONE AND A HALF hours for this to be served to us. We asked a couple of times and they said they were working on it. The restaurant by the time we were served was about 1/3 full. Anyways I had to leave early but after my brother and mother finished, instead of giving them some type of discount or apologizing for the delay they have the audacity to tell them the price is wrong and charged them $45 for the plate instead of the $37. I dont mind paying for good food (hell I gave my bro $60 cash to pay for the meal) but that kind of treatment is just wrong. Long story short I wont be back.

My boyfriend and I have been regulars here for a couple years now. We loved the food so much we didn’t let the unfriendly service bother us. In fact, we would find ourselves laughing about it because it was so awful...we have worked in restaurants so we found it rather humorous how rude they always were. Anyway, it was New Years Day so I called earlier in the evening to make sure they were open - they were until 9:30pm. We got there at 8:30 and they were pretty busy, but still had open tables. We were waiting to be seated when a guy came up to us and said, "Sorry, we are closed!”. He yelled at us saying they were closed and we needed to leave, they were running out of food so they stopped serving. We understand busy nights and we understand how food runs out, however, he had NO interest in even serving us the food that still had. It was rude and insulting and I hate to say it, but we will not be going back. My boyfriend and I were excited for our date night and they ruined it. We were furious!

I am a legit Vietnamese American and I approve of this amazing deli. Literally the best Banh mi Ive had in America. If anyone reads this and wants an intro to Vietnamese tradition, get the Banh mi dac biet here. Then follow it up with a cafe sua da. I saw they had tons of che there as well, 3 colors and che thai but I didnt get a chance this time. Ill be back here multiple times to try everything. Go next door for pho too. These two businesses next to each other is brilliant because it gives every Vietnamese food craving person everything they need.

Its great food here but the server we had didnt make us feel welcome in the place…my boyfriend and I loved the food here, but today when we came to eat, our server ( served us last week) took the order then asked us " WHY U DIDNT LEAVE ANY TIP FOR ME LAST TIME?"... wow, how uncomfortable ??? We left him a tip last time but we didnt know why he didnt get it. We didnt like the way he asked and it was rude I think. Im sorry that they r losing at least two customers from then on... The servers r not that friendly, its sad for the good food though...

Now this is AUTHENTIC so please remember that means there will be some cultural differences! I read the other reviews saying service isnt great or they seem not friendly but really they all are fantastic, just cultural differences make it seem like that. Really if you want a big smile and American hospitality this is the wrong place for you BUT if you want the greatest Vietnamese food of your life!!! Boom! Go no place else, cant say enough amazing things about New Saigon! Been going for years and just incredible, delicious and quality food!!
