Where to begin...in an attempt to be as informative/honest/critical, so that this review is actually helpful, I will try not to gush over EVERYTHING Masterpiece is that no other sandwich shop in Denver wants to be. First off, intrinsically Im alligned with Masterpieces belief in using fresh ingredients. They really do only use the best/freshest and that comes across in every one of their sandwiches. With that said, one of the huge annoyances I have with MP is the wait time it takes to get a sandwich. Because of the space restrictions its incredibly hard for MP to do anything quickly. And inherently a sandwich shop should be quick, right? Well, they arent, and Im impatient. But despite this, I still find myself eating here 3 times a week as the sandwiches are just that good. Living in the neighborhood Ive been a staunch Carbones fan for years. But Im sorry Rose, the Italian at MP is not only the best Ive ever had, its the best sandwich Ive ever had. And I eat a LOT of sandwiches. Another favorite is the Tuna. Its sushi grade tuna seared, sliced and rubbed with a kickin spice. Its amazing, and for health reasons, might be the one I order most. The Cubano is the best Ive ever had. The Rueben is the best Ive ever had. The Pastrami is the best Ive ever had. The Turkey is unbelievable, and probably the best Ive ever had. On top of all that they have daily specials and Ive never had a bad one. So if you can get past waiting 20-30 minutes for a sandwich, during peak hours, and you can get over possibly not having a place to sit, and you can get over spending $10+ a sandwich, then go to Masterpiece and try every one of these. And do yourself a favor...call ahead and take it to go.

Ive now tried this place twice. Each time, I left feeling unsatisfied & kind of ripped off. 1st time, I tried the tuna sandwich. It was sushi (which I hate) in between bread. Raw, pink tuna with wasabi for >$10 is ridiculous. Today, we had a sandwich special & arugula salad. It was $21 & again I didnt care for the sandwich. It was OKAY. But all it had was turkey, arugula, & pork belly (which I didnt expect to be so lardy). From what I had, the salad is decent but they arent cheap. Both times, its been a bit too loud in there for me & certain servers seemed to have a bit of an attitude. Some are quite nice though. I get why some people like it here. Its trendy & the people who work/eat here are very Boulder-ish characters. I dont plan on going back though.

Sandwiches are good, salads are good and service is decent. Ordering over the phone is like dealing with a high school cheerleader at a bake sale. The person handling the phone clearly gets overwhelmed and seems to struggle with hold button under stress. I was hung-up on twice and the phone went to voicemail the previous two times the day before. When I finally got through and was asked to be put on hold, I didnt even get a word in before the phone went blank. Good customer service is what makes or breaks a company and handling the phones is not rocket science, no matter how busy a place it is. Other than those few experiences, I do recommend the food. Its a bit pricey but Ive enjoyed everything Ive had.

I pinned it in my Google maps before I came here simply because they were on Thrillist’s list of best sandwich shops in the US. They didn’t disappoint either. I ended up getting the brisket sandwich. Their brisket was incredibly tender following a twelve hour long braise. Then the sandwich has this lovely red wine gastric and along with a Taleggio fondue, which I could have honestly had a bit more of. All criticisms aside, when you combine the tender beef with the sweetness of the caramelized onions and the little spicy bite of arugula all on a crispy toasted baguette, you have a really great sandwich. I don’t know if this shop ever gets really busy, I’d imagine it would though since it is really small.

This place USED TO HAVE great sandwiches for a high price. I would only go once a month or so (due to price) for lunch to get the cubano or the brisket. Both were excellent but expensive. Id also go get the pork roll for breakfast. Amazing but expensive. UNFORTUNATELY, They recently changed the menu and put lots of salads and cold sandwiches on it for "the downtown crowd". A co-worker had warned me that the menu had changed but I wanted to see if it was a change for the better. Now, the sandwiches arent even in the realm of close to being as good as they were but the high prices still remain. I wont be back.

Stands out as one of my favorite sandwich shops in the area. The Cubano is fantastic! Its almost traditional except the pork is a thick, juicy cutlet. The brisket sandwich features rich cheese and a gastrique combination to sauce it, and is served on a crunchy baguette. Its another favorite for sure. The Ruben is delicious but not the stand out Id hoped. I like the less common offerings and this place has those in spades. Its also got a nice view of downtown, and its convenient to park here, grab lunch, then head downtown via the footbridge that crosses the highway and avoid downtown parking.

Well, I eat here from time to time as I work near by. The food is amazing and even though the sandwich with side comes to about $10 its worth every penny. These guys are great at making a delicious sandwich. Also, dont bother going at noon to one if you dont have a long lunch break. Its so packed youll be standing out side and theres not enough room. Youll wait 15 to 20 to get your sandwich, so dont go if youre in a huge hurry. However, good things come to those who wait, so if youre looking for a sandwich worth $10, this is the place. Do yourself a favor and call ahead with your order.

If waiting in line for 10 minutes to order and then waiting another 20 min for a sandwich is your forte then youll love this place. Also, they havent figured out a good expediting process so they just yell out numbers until they find you. Its super loud and abrasive. Its not a place to enjoy a nice lunch. My recommendation would be to order pick up. That way you wont have to wait in line either. They have a separate cashier just for pick up orders. Their regular sandwiches are over priced but the breakfast are cheap and served all day. Good luck trying this place... youll need it.

I really do enjoy their food here. I think it is the best lunch spot in the Uptown area and their breakfast sandwiches are delicious. My biggest gripe though, is in my office when a group of us want to order something for pick up they cant get it right. We are 0/3 on getting the right order and it becomes frustrating. When we are all putting in $8.50 for a breakfast sandwich your expectations are a little higher than normal. I think Ill stick to burritos for my team. BUT, if youre looking for an individual call in or just on your own this is the spot for a great sandwich!
