I have been a devote patron to Torrance bakery for the last 6 years and recently have experienced to cake catastrophies for 2 separate and important occasions, my wedding day, and just recently my birthday. Last year September on my wedding day, I ordered an "L" cake topper which symbolized my new last name, and to my surprise, on my wedding day the cake topper that I had originally ordered was replaced, without my knowledge, with a mediocre cake topper which i was outraged and very dissapointed about. Secondly, my birthday cake, which consisted of a Louis Vuitton design pattern that I ordered from Torrance bakery looked more less like a knock off from downtown L.A.!!! The design that I signed off on was not depicted correctly and the fact that I was charged extra for a design that a 1st grader with mediocre artist skills could have pulled off was ridiculous. After speaking to Torrance Bakery manager Linda she made it very clear that losing me as a patron was really no big deal and did very little to rectify the situation and instead persistantly made it clear that what I signed off on in regards to the sloppy design was what I wanted. What I was offered as compensation for the horrific design on a cake that cost me $95.00 was a miniscule $20.00 gift certficate, which I wont use, because I will never spend my hard earned money at Torrance Bakery again! Trust me for the amount money you will spend at Torrance Bakery you should never get less than what you expect or pay for!

I was looking forward to having Torrance Bakery do our wedding cake. I had heard good things about them, and I liked that they are a small local business. My fiance and I showed up at our appointment on time. Our consultant was with another party and she stayed with them so long that we had been waiting over 15 minutes past our scheduled time. She barely acknowledged that we were even there. Another consultant finally offered us water, which we appreciated. We met with the consultant and described what we were looking for and that our colors were red, black and silver. Very art deco. She suggested using brown frosting because "it will photograph like black"! Um, brown isnt black! Other places we had been to had described their cakes in great detail - saying they use organic flour, butter etc. This consultant did nothing to sell us on their cakes. All she did was give us the order form as though she had the sale. Then, at the end of our scheduled appointment time, the next customer came in. Since we were late because of the consultant, we figured she would go late with us as well - we had more questions. Plus, she really hadnt helped us with the design yet. Instead, she rushed us out - saying, "My next customer is here, you can call if you have questions." We ended up going with Rossmoor Pastries in Long Beach. They were professional, knowledgeable and took their time designing our cake. We were thrilled!

Torrance Bakery was not our first choice when choosing a wedding cake, but it was certainly the right choice for us. We had tasted cake from 4 other bakeries but none of them was right for us, between delivery issues and cakes or frostings that were not quite right for us. At a friends suggestion, we decided to try Torrance Bakery. It was not convenient for us to go to the showroom, so I went on my own and took samples back to my then fiance. I loved the showroom itself. Comfy seating for couples to sit and taste test cakes, with ipads set up to assist in finding the right design. I loved, the cake, but even more, loved one of the designs in the window. Of course, I couldnt make this decision without my fiances input, but pretty much knew we would be ordering our cake here when I took the samples back to him. I left with samples and a quote that was a couple of hundred dollars less than our second choice, including delivery. Our wedding was this past Sunday and our guests loved the cake. It was beautiful, exactly as we had envisioned, and we had several comments from our guests that it was the best cake theyd ever had. Unfortunately, we were not really able to enjoy our cake because we were busy with our guests, but cant wait to go back at a later date to see just what we missed!

Wonderful cakes, horrible service. I placed an order online just as I normally do ever year for my childrens bday cake. This time I had to come in and change my order. I signed in and took a seat, there were two people ahead of me. After 15 minutes they were serviced and on their way. Within that time I was waiting, a woman walks in inquiring if she needed to sign in to place an order for custom cookies she was told to pull a ticket and would be helped at the counter. 2 minutes later her number was called and she was helped at the custom cake order side, while I waited. No one acknowledged me, the young lady just took phone orders bypassing the fact that I had signed it. These people wouldnt even look me in my eyes as I stood at the counter waiting. I waited there 30 minutes to place my order. Finally I asked to speak to a manager. Tammy comes out and I can see on her face she doesnt care. Torrance Bakery is not a place of business that people of color should patronize, they are not represented in the staff and do not receive the same level of service as other races do. This experience was unfortunate because I will never give them my business again.

Delightful Baked Goods, Greatest Staff Around! In the heart of Old Town Torrance, this full service bakery delivers on all fronts. Consistently delicious bakery offerings from straight forward donuts, cookies and cakes to the gourmet goodies (their Maple Bacon Cupcakes are dangerously delicious); Catering options; Made to order pies and cakes; a full service adjacent Wedding Cake shop that produces creations worthy of their discovery Channel show (ala cake boss and the like); and, also adjacent, a sandwich shop delivering truly tasty sandwiches made with bread you can only find at a bakery along with yummy soups and salad. If that werent enough, and it really is, they have, handsdown, the best staff going! No matter how busy they are (and theyre always busy ! Dont forget to take a number when you get there. ) youre always grated with a big smile, a genuine and happy attitude and no matter how large the order, you never feel youre putting anyone out or theyre just too busy. Wrap it all up in a wonderful small town mainstreet feel and youknow theyve hit upon a formula for success now and going forward and were all fatter and happier for it!

I have been referred to Torrance Bakery by freinds and family to have the cake for my sons baby shower made. I went on line choose the "Playin Mankeys" theme , received back my notice on 8/4/10 at 2:33pm thanking me for the cake order with my order number and all my details including the pick up location of Gardena on 8/7/10 at noon. On 8/7/10 my son went to the Gardena location to pick up our cake we had paid for on line to find out the order was never processed and our cake was not available, considering the whole theme of the shower was MONKEY and we were given a plain cake with decorations that had nothing to do with MONKEYS on it was to say at least DEVASTATING we did not even put the cake our for viewing I will never again order from this bakery the cake that was a major part of our shower decorations was not avialable
