Met some friends here to catch up and grab some lunch. I had been here a couple years ago and remembered it being pretty decent. The decor of the restaurant is nice and the place is kept quite clean which is great. Our waiter was pretty attentive and friendly. However when I placed my order I accidentally said two things combined that they dont have on their menu, it took him a couple minutes to realize it and come back. So maybe not the best knowledge of the menu. Thankfully I had realized it almost immediately and would have tracked him down, but he had disappeared. I had just come from San Diego and had tried the Crack Shack so I decided to follow up and try the Lazy Dogs version of a fried chicken sandwich. When we all received our food the sandwich looked pretty good. The breast was nice and thick and had a good looking breading on it. The bun looked fresh and toasted and the toppings werent spilling all over the place. I always wait a minute to bite into anything fried since you never know if there will still be a pocket of hot oil waiting for you. Thankfully biting into this it was just the right temperature and the breading had a nice crunch to it. The chicken was really good and juicy and the breading was seasoned very nicely. The pimento cheese is an interesting choice, I wouldnt say a bad one, but I wouldnt say a good one either. I feel like the pimento cheese along with the pickled jalapeños make for a somewhat sour taste, not a creamy and spicy deliciousness that I was hoping for. Especially considering the slaw on the burger was called "fiery" I expecting a bit of a spice kick between that and the jalapeños. Oh well. By the time I had taken about 3 bites the breading on the chicken was just falling off and the bun was starting to disintegrate, this was fairly surprising since there isnt really sauce on the bun and the chicken isnt juicy like beef. It became a bit of a mess to finish, but I did it. My friend ordered the grilled cheese and it came out soggy, something a grilled cheese should never be. They had to send it back to get a freshly grilled one. Unfortunately it took awhile for them to get the grilled cheese out so it was a bit awkward since she basically just ended up taking it to go. Its a decent place to grab a bite, easy to find, and the service is okay. Overall the benefit is just that it is easy to get to to meet up with people thanks to plenty of parking.

Yum! The Lazy Dog Cafe outshines its contemporaries in the Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village areas, as it offers delicious food at an affordable price in a hip and clean venue. I came here for lunch with my mother, grandmother, and brother. We all opted for lunch specials, at roughly $8 per person. We all left with full tummies and happy faces. I ordered the Baja Shrimp Tacos. I dont know why I ordered this because Ive been disappointed time and time again by seafood tacos, but I can tell you that I was very pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend this dish, and heres why: -The grilled shrimp were plump and juicy -The taco shells were soft and fresh -The cabbage was tangy, and married well with the sweet, citrus-y salsa...combined with the sweet shrimp, these flavors tasted like a bright summers day -You can substitute the white rice with brown rice -- yes! My family ordered chicken parmesan with spaghetti (looked like a standard chicken parm dish), and pesto chicken salad (consisted of chicken, salad, pita...looked very Mediterranean, very healthy). I dont have much to say about these dishes because frankly, I wasnt paying too much attention to them. I was too busy licking my own plate clean. We also ordered the Brownie Sundae ($7)...so so good and so so big. This dessert can easily feed two people. The brownie (with nuts) comes in a mini skillet, is covered in hot fudge, and topped with two huge scoops of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. The interior of this restaurant is very hip and fun, as the place is embellished with dark wood but evades the curse of DARKNESS that befalls many restaurants that try too hard to establish mood. Sidenote: the bathroom is also extremely clean -- woot!

This was our first time back to Lazy Dog in a couple years. To say this family of four was disappointed was an understatement. The kids menu is broken up into two age groups: 8 and under and 12 and under. The only cheeseburger is on the 12 and under menu, which is more expensive than the 8 and under--around $8 instead of $5 or $6. So we were expecting this to be pretty nice cheeseburger. Instead, it was rock hard with nothing on it but cheese, which didnt look appetizing. Ive had better tasting burgers at take out restaurants. We ordered the side of seasonal fruit for the kids. We figured it would be a fruit bowl. Instead it was a huge chunk of watermelon. Not a slice. But a chunk. With the rind still attached. Asking a 3 and 6 year old to bite into a 4-inch thick slice of watermelon is tough. So we had to slice it up, which would have been fine, but their meals are served in baskets with paper lining them, making all that watermelon juice pool and leak through the paper onto the table. I spilled my water before our food was delivered and even though the staff saw it happen, it took a very long time for them to come over and offer us a towel or napkins to clean it up. By the time they came to help, wed cleaned it all up with what little napkins we had. And until we asked, werent brought replacement napkins. The food we ordered wasnt worth the price. The steak salad was $16 and at any other restaurant would be considered the size of a lunch portion, even though we were there for dinner. Slow service was a theme the entire evening. We werent ever asked for drink refills until we needed our bill. And it took a long time for the bill to come as well. We were very disappointed and wont return.

Came here after going to Hooters, but their was an MMA event. I am very happy that I stopped here. Classy place, w decent prices. We sat in a big booth. They have their own brew. service was great! Our server asked if this was our first time there. We said YES..... The manager came and brought us a garlic flat bread..... Complimentary!!!! Cajun fried were awesome. Their beer flight was good. 6 types around 3.5 Oz. For $6.95. The only reason I dont give this a 5*, is the dish I ordered, which was the chicken here, was OK. I the only rice was a a little undercooked, and the chicken was OK. It said it was spicy the but was mild for my taste. I did really like there Tortilla soup. Also, do their best was a non alcoholic drink that was ordered called the Jamaican lemonade! I dont like sweet drinks, but all this needed was some rum, and I wouldve come back just for that drink! Easily I will come back here! They r opening another one in Oxnard, at the collection soon! Their was a lot on the menu, and Im sure other dishes would be to my liking! More of a 4.5* rating overall!
