Golden House Chinese Restaurant has been around for quite sometime and for good reason. For quite sometime, its been one of my favorite "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants in San Jose. The food is consistently very good and portions are quite generous. Staff is always friendly, pleasant and attentive. The decor screams out a boxy, strip mall, 1970s appearance and the business would benefit greatly by updating the interior to help create a more pleasant ambiance for both customers and employees. I also strongly believe this would help draw more evening business clientele looking for a more serene experience than what is expected during lunchtime. The restaurant seems to be somewhat quiet (empty?) during the evenings for those who want some peace after a long day. During lunchtime hours, tables fill fast, but the wait is short for one to open up for you. Seating is also available near the register for those with "To Go" orders, as your food is being prepared. You can be certain that your food will make it to your home, still piping hot and always as tasty as if you were eating at the restaurant. I recommend it if you are looking for a casual or informal dining experience.

Been here a bunch of times. I dont understand the prior reviews mention of "cafeteria style setup" - its not a buffet, its a sit-down order-and-be-served restaurant. Perhaps it used to be set up like that; I dont know. Food is good and fresh, prices are reasonable. It can get busy at lunchtime - try to get there before 12:00. Soup always arrives within literally seconds of being seated. Portions are, if anything, over-generous, and I have seen people allowed to go "off-menu" if they have the ingredients. All in all a good place for lunch. Never tried dinner there. EDIT: It can feel a little strange if you visit as a single at lunch because they will seat you at a 2-place table that is in VERY close proximity to (almost touching) another 2-place table at which other diners may be seated. Just FYI.

Nice little neighborhood secret! My wife and I like to sneak in for some Chinese Chicken Salad (Excellent). We change the side dishes occasionally. Our favorites are Honey Walnut prawns, Lemon Chicken, Beef Broccoli, Chicken or Shrimp Fried Rice, House Chow Mein, or my most recent favorite find - War Won Ton soup! (EXCELLENT!) The Orange chicken is average, as is the sweet and sour pork. They both have a little too much batter for my taste. The prices are very reasonable and the service is above average.

I love this place. I just had a plate brought to me at work. I used to eat here all the time when I lived on the south of Sj. Im in Palo Alto now and I cant find a place like this out here. I love the Mongolian beef! The pork fried rice. The orange chicken. The won ton soup. Best part about this place is the friendly service and the price! Im not sure if he still works there. The guy in the tuxedo is the man!!!

I love this place, good and very very tasty food, excellent service, friendly environment. Mixed vegetables with Hunan Sauce nothing like this dish, not in the menu but they make as you request. Honey Walnut Shrips, Salt and pepper fish, Hong Kong style noodle are some of the highlights!! Must try and enjoy the food there!! Highly recommend!! Good job Cindy and sisters.

I am very picky about Chinese food. This place has authentic Chinese food. The service was excellent. As soon as they seated us, we had water and menus. The food was brought to our table in a timely manner and it was delicious. We are from Ventura County checking out varies colleges for or daughter. We Google the area for food and we were lucky to find this restaurant.

I go there all the time. Great food, reasonably priced, great value. I wish theyd have crab, roast duck, and more authentic Chinese foods but I till love this local favorite. They have a wonderful fried coconut balls they give with take out only that is tasty. Good simple service from the family siblings. Good "go to" place in Blossom Valley will always deliver!

Quick meal at reasonably priced menu with a good selection of Cantonese cuisine. Try the Generals chicken. The chicken is crispy and the sauce is tasty. Mongolian beef is a hit. So is the Szechuan beef. Would be nice to have chicken corn soup with the lunch special. A very good family-run restaurant.

Golden house chinese resturant serve authentic chineses food at resonable prices. Its a family own resturant and I have been going there for years. The food is much better than places like panda express, as this is a sit down resturant and everything is freshly made!

Ive been going to Golden House Restaurant for the past 17 years. I have never been disappointed with any of my dishes that I get. And its nice to know they know me by name and they know what Im going to order. Anything order from there is absolutely fantastic!

The service is always the best. My favorite dishes are eggplant ToFu, salt pepper fish and Mongolian beef. When I have 40-50 party, I always order 5-6 small trays from them. All of people from the party love the authenticate Chinese food from Golden House.

This was my first time coming to this restaurant and was impressed. Quick and friendly service. They could have waited alittle bit longer to bring me the check. :-) Check came less than 5 minutes after the food. Overall I would definately eat there again.

When you first walk in you are thinking three stars. LOVED the food though. Pork Po stickers were great. The pork fried rice was excellent. Generals chicken was excellent. The decor is not great but the food and value is awesome.

The best! I am very sensitive to Salt... Dont eat it much, so I can really taste it. I do not taste heavy salt or soy sauce at all in their food. Im not saying they dont use it, just not in excess. Love it, love , love it!

Been here 5 times; and all 5 times has been fantastic. The most important aspect of any restaurant, freshness, is always there. Chop-suey, fried rice, corp/hot sour soup are all top notch. Little gem in the South Bay!

Best Chinese in the area and they cook traditionally (e.g., if you arent into fat/gristle, be wary cause thats an essential part of the way meat is prepared in Chinese food). I always push to get the pork chow me in.
