My family (middle aged adults and 2 teens) have been eating at The Yellow Submarine for many years. We love the people there and their subs are like no others. One night we discovered Submarine Center while searching online (as Yellow sub had closed for the night). After reading the reviews here we were all pumped to try it out. Well - they were closed too, but we went a few days later. What is the big deal here? The bread is great, but the sub is just a sub. Toasted (like at Yellow Sub) but thats all that was different than any other sub shop. Better than the chains to be sure, but nowhere near as original or different as at Yellow Submarine. If you think Sub Center is small, take a ride to 7th and Irving! when you do, and you should - we all have to try what we can - and we have to keep these local joints going, they are the heart of The City - when you order at Yellow Sub, be sure to ask for homemade hot sauce. The mom here makes it fresh every fall when the pepper crop is in, and get some fresh cut fried potatoes while youre at it. Happy subbing!

I walked into this cute little store craving an Italian sandwich. I got what I wanted and a little bit more! The bread here is awesome! It tastes fresh and they toast it but the top was still soft enough to bite through. They are generous with their meat portions and their veggies. They are quick to take your order, but the toasting of the sandwiches slows down the creation of your meal. The toasting is totally worth the wait though! They cut up fresh ingredients right in front of you which is nice and not something you see everyday. They have televisions up so you can be entertained while you wait. Overall, I will be back here to enjoy another one of their tasty subs!

Believe the hype! This tiny sandwich joint is all everyone says it is. Although its hard to screw up a sandwich its even harder to recreate the lunchtime masterpieces that come out of Submarine Center. I think its the bread that makes this hole-in-the-wall so delicious. I always go for the "Gourmet turkey, no mayo and add jalapenos please. Special sauce? Oh yeah!" Every sub gets toasted to perfection and all the fillins are super fresh. Submarine Center also makes a killer pizza on a french roll. Dont forget a bubbly soda with the best crushed ice to wash it all down. Be ready to wait in line though, this place has been discovered. Enjoy!

The sandwiches here are toasted just right. I have tried the hot pastrami, meatball, mixed Italian meat and tuna. I wasnt so crazy for the Italian sausage used in the Italian sandwich and the tuna is not the best Ive had but the sandwiches are filling and decently good. Lines are usually not long but one time I went there during lunch and it was quite packed. I usually order ahead of time using Eat24 and they have always delivered on time. I just walk in, say my name and walk out with a sandwich. Worth a try if youre into sandwiches.

The subs are amazing! The bread is toasted perfectly to have a crisp shell and yet the bread is airy and fluffy, toppings are fresh and well portioned. My girlfriend doesnt eat meat so I was worried her selection was limited but she loved it. Potato salad was awesome as well, good spices and better than my families for sure! I will definitely be back for more, had half at the shop and picnicd the other half a sub, so satisfying. Also they are FAST, slingin subs very well.

I was very surprised. This turned out to be one of the best Hot Pastramis Ive ever had in my life, and dare I say the best in San Francisco... and I eat a lot of Pastrami Sandwiches, since its my "go to" whenever Im at any sub shop. The service was crazy quick and professional! I was actually in a bit of awe watching the guy make my sandwich! You seriously need to try this place!! You can thank me later. Best subs in SF, hands down!

When you first look at your prepared sandwich you will not see an overabundance of meat, but at first bite you will pleasantly discover that the ratios of ingredients are perfectly balanced and the toasting of the bread is the cherry on top. I highly recommend this place to those who like a quality, delicious sandwich, but not to those who are just looking for a filler sandwich.

Ive been going here since I was a kid (25+ years) and the sandwhiches have never changed. Their secret sauce, which is some variation of Italian dressing and some other magic, is what makes the sandwich, along with the bread of course. I have been having their hot pastrami for years and am not sick of them at all.

This place is great! Simple subs, but the ingredients are always fresh, and they put them together fast. Good for large take-out orders if youre on your way to the ballpark to watch the game. Not quite as creative as Ikes place, but just as a good for a cheaper price. One of the better sandwich places in the city.

The most fantastic sandwiches I have ever eaten. Not a resident local, but I frequent the store EVERY SINGLE CHANCE I HAVE. The friendly family owned corner shop has the best sandwich maker up front and center ready to serve you a warm or cold flavor filled fresh submarine all day.

Really awesome subs. You wont find better for the style anywhere in the bay. Dressed really well but its all about that perfectly toasted but soft in the middle Italian bread. The atomic is great but the hot pastrami is classic.

I am like the pastrami sandwich. This has been my sandwich place for about 30 years. But lately I have noticed some new employees and I am not too sure about their skills. Have to visit a few more times.

My favorite sub sandwich spot in SF. The special sauce they use is soo good and the bread is toasted to perfection. Theyve also got tons of cool 49ers memorabilia.

Brilliant sandwiches. Perfectly toasted sub roll and a great variety of tasty meats (pastrami is particularly good). My favourite is the Atomic with added avocado.

Come here for a classic sub. Nothing fancy or special but delicious and consistent. The staff is helpful and friendly. Not a lot of seating in store.

Great sandwiches, great service. Coming here for years and will continue for years to come. That pastrami is great!
