One of the few authentic Italian delis Ive seen in San Francisco. I was SUPER psyched to come here, but at the end of the day, it didnt quite live up to expectation. I had heard awesome things about Molinari and couldnt wait to stop in as I walked by on a Saturday afternoon. The place was packed so I quickly grabbed a number and spent some time perusing the menu. Everything sounded great, but how could you come to a place and not order their namesake special? The Molinari special came with 5 different kinds of Italian cold cuts, provolone cheese, and full lettuce/tomato/etc. I subbed out the provolone in favor of mozzarella and asked for no mayo, but I wish I had gone so far as to get rid of the mustard as well. I found it to overpower the flavors of the meat once I started eating the sandwich, so much so that I really only tasted mustard. The sandwich was also incredibly salty… I found myself chugging water for hours after eating. The meats themselves were pretty good - once I opened the sandwich and just ate the meat and cheese together without the mustard, it was a lot more enjoyable. The sandwich was HUGE, definitely could have lasted for two meals, especially with a bag of chips or something on the side. Overall, Id like to come back and try another sandwich or two if Im in the area and have nowhere new to try, but I probably wont be running back.

Delicioso!! Vários tipos de frios e levemente picante. Não deixem de dar um pulo lá.

Molinari is one amazing sandwich shop. Its a deli and market in one. Yes, the line gets long, but its worth the wait! When you walk inside, grab a number from the counter. Then take some time to peruse the menu while you wait. I had trouble deciding which sandwich to get, but settled on the South Beach that had turkey, provolone, artichoke hearts, sun fried tomatoes with basil garlic spread. Before you order, go to the bread counter in the corner of the store to pick out your sandwich bread. You can watch them make your sandwich within a couple of minutes and you pay at the register. You can take your food away or you can grab a table right outside the shop if theyre not occupied. While you wait, you can also peruse the items that they have from Italy all around the store from wines, olive oil, snacks, candy, and more. They also have some appetizer items that you can purchase to take home to eat. I really want to try some of their fresh pasta!

Molinari was recommended by a close friend and I dropped by one day to find it unfortunately closed. I forgot about it for a while until I took part in a North Beach food tour - Molinari was one of our first stops! Our guide told us about how Molinari makes its sopressata and mozzarella and then we were able to sample a sopressata sandwich. This store has a ton of wonderful Italian gems like fresh-made pasta, Italian wines, cheeses, made-to-order sandwiches, and more. The recipes have clearly been in the family for decades, giving this little deli a warm and comfortable feel. I would recommend picking up a sandwich here and heading over to Washington Square Park for a picnic in the sun on a lazy weekend day.

One of those spots Im glad our good friend Anthony Bourdain introduced me to. While in town, we ordered pick up through Yelp, menu was very clear, check out was simple. Took less than 5 minutes to pick up from the store even though it was a busy holiday weekend; though, honestly, I wouldnt have minded hanging out a bit longer with the handsome staff! We got the regular Italian combo and the Renzo, which comes with prosciutto, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, and you can order it as hot as you can handle. The store also has quite the selection of domestic and imported cheeses, and wine. Basically a one-stop shop for all your picnic needs. Now only if it came with one of those handsome Italian gentlemen...

On a scale of 1-5, Molinari salumi products are a 100, and the deli itself isnt far behind. They have set the standard for salami and other products that they produce - the salami they use is made by them! The deli is a great treat for all who can get to it and their selections are excellent. Their pasta and sauces are wonderful. They make great sandwiches or you can purchase meats and cheeses by weight along with rolls or focaccia to take home. They not only make, but import and sell great food. They are a San Francisco treasure! Ive been eating their products for more than 40 years and coming here to the deli about that long, too! If you can get to North Beach, do check them out.

THEY NEVER WASH THEIR HANDS! They take your money then proceed to make the next persons sandwich with the same hands they just took the money with. I stupidly ate the sandwich anyway and got sick. The first time I went the sandwich was made by a hispanic lady, it was good and i did not get sick, although I doubt she washed her hands. Next time I went it was made by some young italian guys that work there and the sandwich sucked, the ratio of each ingredient was off compared to the first time. It was too sour, my girlfriend and I both had the same experiences. We went there twice, and have not, and will never go back again. I cant believe this place is so hyped.

Came here on a Friday for lunch. Food: Being a vegetarian, sometimes sandwich shops can be difficult, but here they have a great veggie option. I got the veggie special and it had sun dried tomatoes, lettuce, mozzarella, and other tasty stuff inside. This sandwich was full of flavor and very filling. My boyfriend got a meat sandwich, tried mine and said he was getting it next time. Service: You pick a number and get served in order. Sandwiches made on the spot. Ambiance: Love the feel here. Really feels like a great Italian place. About 3 tables outside and it got busy quick. For sure coming back.

Fantastic traditional Italian deli. I havent sampled even a fraction of what they have to offer, but their sandwiches are amazing. Walk in, grimace at the number of people milling about, and grab a number. Wander about and find about 18 things you didnt know you needed, and make a mental note to come back. When they get close to your number, make your way to the bins in the back and choose a loaf of bread for your sandwich. Whatever you decide, definitely add basil garlic spread to it. Youre not eating in this tiny shop, so take it elsewhere and enjoy!

Sandwich was fantastic. For 1st timers, here are the sandwich ordering steps to follow: 1) Take a number tab from dispenser on right just inside door, this puts you in the queue to order 2) Step toward rear of deli, pick out your bread from the wooden bin on the left. 3) Note the "everything" list above by the menuboard, these are the default sandwich toppings. 4) Now youre ready pick out a sandwich from the menu, step to the counter and order! Its worth the rigor. Authentic Italian deli
