I recently went to Taegukgi for lunch and it was by far the best KBBQ experience Ive ever had. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good KBBQ place in San Diego. I felt compelled to write a detailed review below: SERVICE: We went to Taegukgi around noon on a Wednesday, they were not very busy so we were seated immediately. Every single member of the staff we interacted with was polite and friendly. Perhaps even more importantly, our server was very attentive and consistently made sure that we had everything we needed (drink refills, more meat, etc.). Even other members of the staff beside our own server would ask us how we were doing. One of the servers saw me drop my chopsticks, and without me even having to ask for it, he walked up and gave me a replacement set of chopsticks. Overall the staff just really went above and beyond by providing us fast and outstanding service when we were there. Keep in mind this was at a relatively non-busy time for the restaurant, however they seemed to be short on staff at the time, so Im very impressed with the level of service considering that. FOOD: We ordered one of the all-you-can eat barbecue lunch options. The price was cheap relative to other KBBQ places I know of in the area (I forget what the price was exactly but its one of the lowest Ive seen for all-you-can-eat). The meal came with appetizers that were ALREADY AT THE TABLE before we even sat down! There was a wide variety of these appetizers (around 8-9 different plates) and each one was delicious. The meat tasted good (especially the beef bulgogi) and the quality seemed good to me. They also provided one of the best sesame oils Ive ever had. ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant was very spacious inside with a lot of floor space and high ceilings, making the room seem very open. The decor wasnt really traditional like some other KBBQ places in the sense that it lacked an authentic Asian/Korean theme. However, everything was very clean and modern looking which I liked. They even had huge multi-screen displays on the wall which they used to stream soccer games when we were there. Overall, the restaurant had a very fresh and inviting atmosphere. I wish I could also provide some points of criticism in this review, but I honestly dont have a single complaint about my first experience at Taegukgi. However, I plan to update my review based on my future experiences eating there. Based on my experience, this was significantly better than any other KBBQ place Ive been to before, and from now on, this will be my go-to restaurant for KBBQ in San Diego.

This isnt your usual Asian-BBQ restaurant. Theres no all you can eat option, everything is portioned. But this place has a great variety of proteins to try. One thing to know is that this place isnt cheap if youre trying to feast for a meal. This place offers affordable portions of both proteins and sides that can easily add up to maybe $15-$20 meal per person, depending on what you get. From my experience, the most popular proteins, Ramen, and the Bimbimbap are items that I go to whenever I visit. But what differentiates this place from a 3 star to a 4 star rating is its late night happy hour. During happy hour, some of the most popular items such as brisket & steak, as well as the Bimbimbap are cut in price, which make this place a great late night food fix. The main take-away from this is that, this restaurant is nice to visit once in a while, and it makes it more worth the visit of you were to dine in during happy hour so that you can take advantage of the deals.

Whoever our server was seemed so incompetent. He constantly forgot what we had asked for but would return to see if we needed anything -- yes! We needed the soda we asked for 3 times already, and the rice that we asked for twice, and a refill on the salad if that wouldnt be too much of a bother.. Not only that, but it took them forever to seat us when the restaurant was basically empty. We originally thought that they werent open yet but when we looked inside there were already at least 4 groups seated and eating. The price was about 27 bucks per person for the basic menu which was actually okay for the meat choices they offered. I gave them two stars because they had more beef options than some other places.

- My favorite KBBQ place in the Convoy area. The meat is really tasty and the grill cooks very fast unlike some other places. - This KBBQ in particular is large--great for groups. - The overhead vent is adjustable and can go quite low and close to the stove, so smoke is never an issue here. - Service is fast but young servers are sometimes hit/miss. - Wait can be quite long on high hours. - AYCE $23 for regular menu as of May 2016. Although it is more pricy than other KBBQs nearby, this one always has a unique experience. - Later night hours is nightclub-esque with loud music.

Meat quality aint even that great. You order with your waiter on an iPad but everything still takes forever including steamed rice. Very under staffed and workers are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Horrible management. Grills arent greased so they burn and need replacement after every round. Unreasonable 4 plate limit and they hardly give you any slices on each plate. They serve craft beer, play loud hip hop jams in the background and have large tables. Caters to a younger crowd. Vibe and atmosphere really not worth it with the horrible service.

This place is horrible I went with my family last Sunday, the place was a little bussy and I asked the hostess how long did I need to wait and she told me 30 min... when I had spent an hour, I ask her I what happened and she rudely told me you need to wait 10 min more and I asked "why did you tell me 30 min?" and she said "I never said that we were bussy," obviously I get upset and the manager tells us that all he can do is give us a15% discount but it was only 4 dlls. The place is NOT CLEAN, NOT COMFORTABLE, and THE FOOD IS NOTi GOOD I never come back

This is an okay BBQ but their meats are pretty tough overall. Even their softest selection of meat is not the best, and you would have better luck going elsewhere where the meats are on occasion soft. It isnt worth it even with their massive screens and side bar. Also their tables are pretty close to one another so if you are okay with sharing leg space with the person to your side form a completely different party then youll have no issue, but if you do then there are other spaces that have dividers or at the very least a good chunk of room.

My family and I went in for dinner and it was our first time. Our server was friendly and quick to suggest types of meats to try out. The meats were served quickly, and they did not seemed to be frozen. They tasted really great. Music wasnt my exact taste, and I didnt like the large screen TV showing Fox News here and there, but the atmosphere was pretty decent and lively for the evening. The only downside is how pricey it is per person for dinner. I suggest only coming here if youre going to eat a WHOLE lot for dinner.
